[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC and multiple copies of mplayer
This has been raised before, but I thought it was time to bring it up again. I'm still using AlienBBC 0.98, so maybe it has been solved. Using Mac OS X Tiger. I mostly use Listen Again, not Listen Live. If I listen to a programme through to its end then the two copies of mplayer used will quit. But if I choose to stop the stream, or if it stops of its own accord due to dropouts (which I had in the past, but seem to have cured by changing the channel) then the copies of mplayer remain running. My record, at a time when the stream kept dropping, was eighteen copies of mplayer. If it isn't really hard to deal with, it would be useful to ensure that mplayer quits, at least if the stream stops because I have stopped it - I realise that dealing with spontaneous stops may be harder. -- danco ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

1) with progressbar selected for top right, and icons set for top right, show always, the bar and icons overlap Yeah, and if the part left of the icon is too long, it will do so, too. :-( 2) with a side vis, the progressbar ends the column before the icons. It might be nice to have even one pixel separation if possible. What's the vis?!? I don't understand (and my dictionary does not offer any help). actually, turning the icons off then back on seems to avoid problem 1, Thanks might help, thanks! [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Last.FM plugin
OK, here we go again! Tried new version 1.0.0. Works nicely for about 22 minutes, then stops (probably my network glitching again). Some slightly odd behaviour before it restarted: log file, with some annotation, attached here. I guess the main problem is that with streaming stopped, the plugin carries on regardless. I think you've said this is tricky to spot as the failure notifcation never gets to the plugin, but I noticed two things - one, there is a failed detetction, and two, there is the giveaway that the track progress keeps going up till it goes beyond track duration, at which point you might fairly deduce there is a problem. Anyway, I kicked it a few times with play and it did restart (playing nicely now) so we're not doing too badly here! Many thanks again... I guess I'm not really bothered about automatically restarting, as long as I can easily restart by pressing play (or something). I was trying to restart using the remote (actually softsqueeze) interface, but as you say if the plugin thinks its working it will ignore me. How about a behaviour such that when the plugin thinks that the stream has stopped (eg progress duration) it displays a message along the lines of Contact lost - press play to restart ? Then at least it can be expecting the command to restart and not just ignoring me!! To be honest, I'm not quite sure what I did that eventually got it going, I just pushed buttons. As it happens, while typing this in, its just stopped again (90 mins playing this time), and again theres nothing in the log to show theres anything wrong. On the remote menu, going back to LastFM - and pressing play took me into the now playing mode ((showed last track name), pressing play again caused an attempted reconnection (which failed), pressing play the third time caused another attempted reconnection (which worked). I think this may be exactly the same as last time, as captured in the log file I posted, so I won't post another one. Hope this helps... [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin called WeatherSaver
I just wrote a new plugin called WeatherSaver. Here is a description: This screensaver expands upon the basic time and date screensaver and adds the current weather observations. It uses the XML current observation data from www.weather.gov. Just login to the website and find your state and nearest observation point code. Enter this code into the plugin settings of the server. On the 1st line, the plugin displays the time (HH:MM) and date (in logn format). On the 2nd line the observation (clear, rain, fog, partly cloudy), temperature in F, and either windchill or heatindex are displayed. The plugin will fetch weather data according to the fetch interval defined by the weather station you choose to monitor. Most stations seem to be set for 60 minute polling interval. To download the plugin, visit : http://yzf600.dns2go.com/slimplugs.html Let me know if you have any problems with it. If you have any suggestions for improvements, let me know. I'm thinking of these new features in the next release: 1) option to display F or C (currently only F is supported) 2) allow user to specify something besides windchill or heatindex. In my week of testing, it seems that only 3 fields can be displayed without scrolling. I'd prefer to keep it that way. There are many items available for display. Check out the XML page for your weather station for a list of all observations. -- yzf600 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Last.FM plugin
FWIW, my experience with 1.0.0: I still have to press Play twice to get the stream to start. The first time, I just get the Song Title LastFM with the VU meters all at the bottom. Pressing Play again then starts the stream and artist/title display as expected... It appears this only happens when first starting a stream, as I had to restart slimserver in order to reproduce the problem. I've attached the debugging output in case it's at all useful... +---+ |Filename: lastfmdebug.txt | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=457| +---+ -- Xhorder ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

On Tue, 1 Nov 2005, Scott wrote: when i type which make it says: usr/bin/make Good. It would be hard(er) to dig that one up. when i enter the shell and type 'o conf'... there is nothing listed next to 'make' This sounds like the problem. Not sure *why* your setup is like that, but I think we can fix it. Try this... Enter the CPAN shell again, then: o conf make /usr/bin/make after that, you should see /usr/bin/make on the make line when you type 'o conf' alone. Try the install command again. Hopefully now it works. Let me know... Allan ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
