 Thanks for asking!

A simple request would be to show the origin of the lyrics displayed
for the Now Playing track. In iPeng I can see if there are no lyrics
embedded in the music file but iPeng found lyrics on the internet, and
then I can try to find the lyrics and embed them (since that is the way
 I like to have it).

A more complicated request would be to have muso automatically detect
changes to the SBS database and doing a resync.

More links to the artist, album and track (Wikipedia, AMG, MusicBrainz
and Discogs) could also be useful (maybe even a browser window/tab
 within muso).

And - although muso is excellent as a SBS front end on a Windows PC
already as is - I have many more ideas so just keep asking if you have
too much spare time. :) (How about an Artists cover wall, like with
Albums but with artist images from LastFM? That non SBS related idea I
got from from JRiver Media Center.)

I like the artist cover wall idea. The main content area in muso is web
based, I'm just getting into the jquery javascript library - there are
many jquery plugins I could use (example:
http://www.professorcloud.com/mainsite/carousel.htm) to make new
displays in muso.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iPlayer

2011-12-03 Thread gian

what's up with BBC?

I do not understand why we need to update the player so frequently, and
why it does not work most of the times...

It's extremely annoying, and makes me choose another channel not

Why so grumpy - all work on iPlayer plugin is done by Triode in his own
time for no reward.

Recent updates to plugin have been at other users' request to make
playing stream more reliable.

If you don't like updates - turn off auto update and only update when
playing breaks.

IIRC there have been no updates in the last 3 weeks.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Disappearing custom browse menu

2011-12-03 Thread MDE

Been scratching my head for a while about this... I have set up a
dynamic tags custom browse menu for classical music as described in
Erland's wiki and it worked fine. Now, suddenly and for no apparent
reason, the menu has disappeared. It is not visible in the web
interface, squeezeplay, or on the iPod squeezebox and iPeng controllers
(for any player). However, it IS still visible on the squeezbox touch
and works fine there! Also, custom browse settings shows it as an
enabled menu and it is editable. I've tried rescanning and restarting
etc, but no effect. Any ideas?

This looks to be only impacting ppc based Macs. Could one of the
people with the problem try the following:

1) Open a shell and change directory to the location of spotifyd and
spotifyd.conf.
2) prove spotfyd stops with this above error message by running it:
./spotifyd
3) edit the spotifyd.conf file to change the loglevel to TRACE
4) try running spotifyd again - do you see any different error
messages?

(the trace feature should be switched off by default - I am not sure
what is happening here yet, but the above should create a tracefile)

It doesn't seem to actually install using the above method. For
instance there are no .conf files in Spotify\Bin\arm-linux for

IF you manually install the plugin you will need to unzip the contents
of the zip folder into the plugin location and make sure the plugin
folder is at the top level of the Plugins's folder:

you should see a file:
../Plugins/Spotify/install.xml

Where .. depends on which plugin path you used.

spotifyd does NOT crash with that error when run from the command line,

Web interface won't show it as running unless it started the deamon.
However you should be able to use it - probably needing to set the
password first from the web interface.

I don't understand this yet - I initialise the tracefile value to NULL
which should mean it is turned off, wonder if PPC does this in a
different way. Could you PM me an email address so I can send you a
couple of alternative binaries to test?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify often stops

2011-12-03 Thread Zier

Hello,

Since a few months I am a member of spotify premium on my Touch and SB
radio, I'm not using a NAS, just the Touch and the radio.
The problem is that the playing often stops at the start of a new song.
It is often the same song. But sometimes the next day it will play, but
then it stops at the start of another song. I play playlists as well as
the most popular songs. It occurs on both the Touch and the radio.
Has this something to do with copyrights?
I'm from Holland btw, I'm not using the triode plugin.

Thanks for your advice,

greetings,

Zier

You probably want to run as user squeezeboxserver:

The plug-in provides a lot more functionality than a simple list of
stations (which you can elsewhere in the Squeezebox interface).
It has the full On Demand list (listen again) for all BBC stations -
sorted by when played and programme name - and gives you access to the
BBC Radio 3 HD stream.

You probably want to run as user squeezeboxserver:

Ok - so any reason I don't get the files after manually installing the

with spotifyd not running on my system?

Sorry I'm at a loss here - any chance for a 2.2.0 version that works on

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MUSO - Support Thread

Thanks for listening! The display view in the referenced link - or some
other solution - could be useful in a full screen display where
different images (back, inside, inlay, booklet, cd/lp/single) for one
album are displayed really large and can be altered/moved by the arrow
keys.

I forgot to request the ability to display embedded cover art for the
Now Playing song. (For compilation or VA albums I embed different
singles cover art for each track, and I have a folder.jpg in the album
folder to represent the compilation/VA album as an entity.) SBS and
iPeng can display individual cover art for the currently playing song.

On your computer, in your home directory there is a (usually hidden)
directory called .ssh
In there is a file known_hosts. You need to edit it and remove the line
starting with the ip address of your server. Use a text editor (NOT
Word, for example).

This is a security measure meant to stop someone from impersonating
your host.

anyone using 7.6 or 7.7 really need to upgrade to the latest version,

purchase a license. You can apply for a free 30 day evaluation license

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezeslave on Softsqueeze download page

2011-12-03 Thread Richard Boyce

I attempted to download Softsqueeze from SourceForge and was surprised
that I got a download called Squeezeslave instead.

Upon checking the download page, I see that Softsqueeze is available,
but the page says Looking for the latest version? and offers
Squeezeslave instead, though that had been mentioned elsewhere as
separate software.

Does Squeezeslave now supercede Softsqueeze? If not, what's going on?
For security, I don't want to execute either piece of software until I
know.

Thanks I already did that though. I managed to fix it. It seemed that
it's not ok to extract the files to the squeezeplug over a samba share
and change the owner/group afterwards. Instead I download the files
directly on the plug using wget and extracted them with unzip. After
changing the owner/group it works again. Great.

Thanks a lot for your input along the way.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezeslave on Softsqueeze download page

2011-12-03 Thread bpa

Squeezeslave and softsqueeze are two different software players.

Softsqueeze is Java based and emulates older SB players (e.g. SB3,
Boom, Transporter) is minimnally maintained just enought to keep it
running with latest version of SBS/LMS.

Squeezeslave has active development and is intended to be used without
a user interface.

The two software players are hosted on the same sourceforge site for
convenience.

I ran ./spotifyd directly, as requested. The same error message
appeared in the log file (nothing at all in my terminal window). I
then modified the .conf file to log level TRACE and tried again. This
then produced the message shown below in the terminal:

[21:44:56.570623] main:361 ./spotifyd 2.2.1 started

[21:44:56.573761] main:407 error on bind listenfd: Address already in
use

Spotifyd appeared to be running at this point and capable of streaming
music (the status page on the web interface still reports helper app
not running, however). I then reverted to log level INFO in the .conf
file and re-ran .'spotifyd' manually - it continued to work. I then did
a system restart and noticed that Spotify was again not working (ps -ax
confirmed that the helper app wasn't running). The error messages
originally reported appeared again in the log file. Manually starting
./Spotifyd got it working again (no message in the log file in response
to this). The .conf file was set to log level INFO at this point.

Kyle;674420 Wrote:

Ah, OK.
Short answer: Yes.

(As long as you always use the same iTunes account).

There is one limitation: Playback in iPeng for iPhone and iPeng for
iPad is not the same, you always have to remember that to not
accidentally purchase it again in the other App.

If you purchased the iPhone version, you can use it (playback) in both
apps without re-purchase (if you enable it in either App on the iPad,
it will work in both and of them and you can always install the iPhone
App on the iPad for free), so you can also use it on iPad for free.

The other way around doesn't work (because you can't install the iPad
App on the iPhone). You can purchase the discounted version for iPhone
then, though (for $1).

Sometimes App Store _can_ actually be complicated. When we first did
the playback there was no way to share an In-App-Purchase between Apps
(now it's possible using your own registration server) and now we are
pretty much tied into the current model.
