I suspect my initial issue was the quickly hitting next track button and not giving the plugin time to add new tracks to the end. Michael I can't really put my finger on the exact circumstances yet, but I'm now seeing this sort of behaviour too. When I start, for instance, a Classic Rock mix, I get 5 or 6 tracks in the playlist. I have the impression that if I skip to the next track at any point during playback of this playlist then the list doesn't get added to. I think I've also seen one or two cases where this happens even without me skipping tracks, but it's hard to be sure of this as lately I've been skipping more tracks - 'Classic Rock' mixes based on my own library plus Spotify seem to contain more 'metal' tracks than they used to, although my sample size is probably too small to be meaningful. I'm also now seeing a problem that someone else reported earlier - the playlist seems to start playback at the second track. Skipping and deleting tracks in general seems a bit hit and miss, so rather than skipping a track I've tended to start a new mix, and this is when I've noticed the problem of starting on the second track. On a separate point concerning usability, I find the operation of the plugin differs slightly from the conventions of the rest of the LMS experience. When browsing my own library I'm used to having to specifically click on the 'play' or 'add' button to get the tracks into the playlist. As far as I'm aware, the Smartmix plugin is the only case where a LINK in the left window actually starts playback. In all other cases I can think of, clicking an underlined link either drills down further or shows more information. I wonder whether it's feasible to implement the 'play', 'play next', 'add' etc buttons in the left hand panel alongside the mix links, and perhaps remove the direct playback from those mix links, and change the functionality so that clicking a mix link creates a preview of the playlist in the left panel. This is obviously just a personal opinion - maybe it's on your to-do list already, or maybe it's not feasible - just thought I'd raise it. I should probably have waited till I can access my server to check version numbers etc. I'm running a version of the plugin that I updated last night, and it's on a Mac mini (Snow Leopard) running LMS 7.8.0 chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97668 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Soundicity - SB Controller App for Windows Phone 7.5/8
Thanks for this. Here's my review I tried to post on the app store but not sure it's registered it for some reason. Any response? I really wish devs didn't restrict the trial app to one player (or one server as is the case with Squeezebox Control). It really hampers assessment of these apps. Squeezebox owners aren't cheapskates! They'll pay if the product works. Anyway, this is graphically the most attractive of the three 'proper' Squeezebox apps I've found (Squeezeremote, Squeezebox Control being the others). I only found this one through the devs note on the SB forums though). However, it lacks one incredibly important feature to me - the ability to switch your SB players to different servers (I require mysb.com connection to use Spotify) but the LMS (running on my ReadyNas) for locally stored music. Plus it would be great to be able to add shortcuts to apps to the home page (eg. by long pressing them). Squeezebox Commander (Android) was so perfect in both these respects. Having paid for the other two apps above and found them lacking the same feature, I'm afraid I can't pay for this one. On the Hierarchical view though you can be more specific - if By Artist is in your hierarchy then you can select Various Artists in the tree (not necessarily the last admittedly, so there is a slight inconsistency there) you then have the Albums Sorted By option on the right, so you can sort by whatever you want. jezbo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9888 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91575 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

You have a sort choice named Size (?) - I'd like to sacrifice Size (as I do not understand what is means) and instead have a choice between Artist and Album Artist. It is confusing agreed, and internally very fiddly to manage. Muso has the concept of one or more Titled Artists for each album and these are the artists that are common to all tracks - either in the Album Artist attribute or if this is not defined, from the Artist attribute. So if all tracks have Album Artist set to X then the titled artist is X even if the tracks have different values for Artist. If the Album Artist is not defined then all tracks have to have some common value for Artist in order for it to be considered a titled artist. The situation is more confusing in that either attribute can define multiple artist values separated by a ; or some other separator character (configurable) - so there can be more than one titled artist. A compilation is assumed when no Artist or Album Artist attribute is filled in at all, where Various Artists is defined in all Artist or all Album Artist attributes, or where all tracks have the Compilation flag set. Compilations are put at the end of the gallery view (under index entry *), and are put under Various Artists in the hierarchy view by Artist - this is one inconsistency I acknowledged in my last post, I think I will have to at least take the same approach to each, I'll look at this soon. The other difference is that the gallery view ordered by artist only lists each album once, under their titled artist (the FIRST titled artist when it has multiple), but the Hierarchical view by Artists lists all the Titled Artists so can show the same album under more than one entry if it has more than one titled artist. The Artist page can list other albums that the artist has only contributed to (i.e. is not the titled artist, but appears on one or more tracks). jezbo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9888 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91575 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Smart Mix plugin
I've written a small tool to check if the unrecognized songs are really not available at TEN, or if it's a tagging issue. It uses the echoprint audio fingerprint and queries TEN if it's recognized. That's interesting. Might inspire me for some more work to do... How to use - get the echoprint utility from http://echoprint.me/ (You need the 'echoprint-codegen' (https://github.com/echonest/echoprint-codegen) binary to create the fingerprint from your local tracks). I didn't find any binaries, but source code only. Where did you find binaries? -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Local Player plugin and Squeezelite for Linux/Windows/OSX
Updated version using a bug fixed version of squeezelite I hope this fixes the following bugs: - windows version should play mp3s with any debug option set - linux version will support mp3 using libmpg123 on arm processors (if mpg is selected in preference to mad) Please post feedback - especially if there are problems with the usual plugin install - I would like to confirm what is causing problems. I've just installed the 0.6 version from the repo on a windows machine. chill wrote: I'm also now seeing a problem that someone else reported earlier - the playlist seems to start playback at the second track. Skipping and deleting tracks in general seems a bit hit and miss, so rather than skipping a track I've tended to start a new mix, and this is when I've noticed the problem of starting on the second track. Forgive me quoting my own post, but I wonder if it's possible there's still a problem with Triode's Spotify plugin and the Spotify tracks that Smartmix queues up. I've been experimenting this evening, trying to get to the bottom of the 'second track' issue. In addition to this issue I've noticed playback stopping and starting, and various track skipping issues. By a process of elimination it seems to be that some Spotify tracks seem to cause problems, but I can't tell what it is about those tracks that's different. - When I use Triode's plugin to play a Spotify 'radio', ie not using the Smartmix plugin, playback is perfect - no skipping, playlist starts at first track etc. - When I use the Smartmix plugin to generate a 'Classic Rock' mix from just my own local library, then playback is perfect in this case too. - But if I add 'Spotify' to the music sources for Smartmix, then I get playback problems. Could it be that Triode's Spotify plugin can't play some of these Spotify tracks, due to region problems, or is it feasible that they're being streamed from a server too far from my own region (in the UK), so that internet latency is causing a problem? chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97668 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Second track, issue ? Is that the seed song does not actually play when you start a mix ? I think I've seen that behaviour , I'll try more when I get home . I want to hear the seed song , here is why , I'm listening to a song and think it would be cool with a mix from that . What I would like is to seamlessly continue to hear that song while I choose smartmix of it and the continuation of the playlist gets filled by smart list and preceding tracks gets wiped . Or as a add to play next kind of functionality where smartmix slot in new tracks to play next , ie there is no new current playlist smartmix just slots in new tracks to play next Or I could grudgingly accept that the seed song restart if it is really really technically impossible :) Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97668 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I want to hear the seed song , here is why , I'm listening to a song and think it would be cool with a mix from that . No, that's not what I was calling the 'second song issue'. I'm not suggesting it is widespread at all, but in my case Smartmix often seems to generate a playlist of five or six tracks of which the first (and some others) seems unplayable. Typically though I can't reproduce this this morning. The best I can suggest at the moment is that maybe some of the Spotify tracks the plugin queues up don't play properly through Triode's Spotify plugin, either because of region restrictions (but I think he already fixed that) or maybe because the track is being served up from a server that has network latency issues when streaming to me in the UK - maybe it's not coming from the same server it would if I used the Spotify plugin directly. I have no idea whether that theory is plausible or not. And this 'second song' issue seems to disappear if I remove 'Spotify' from the list of music sources that Smartmix can use. However, I agree with your use case. I'd like my Smartmixes to start with the song I first thought of, ie the seed song. I believe this could be achieved using the functionality I suggested earlier. If, instead of clearing the current playlist and loading a Smartmix, the Smartmix links had the usual 'play', 'play next', 'add' buttons, then you could start your seed song playing, click on it to get to the 'this song Smartmix' link, then 'add' that link to the current playlist. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97668 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
