Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Is there a plugin to easily add a song to an existing playlist?
The playlist manager seems to be working in conjunction with Squeezecommander app now, however, I can't add a song to an existing playlist. If I add a song I'm listening to into an existing playlist, it just makes another playlist with the same name with only that one song in it. So, I appear to only have the option mentioned above, loading the entire playlist on the web interface and adding a song, and saving the list again. Not very useful. eellerto's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104343 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Andy I uninstalled your original plugin, removed your old repo and old files from album folders, and deleted the old library views. Just set up my raspberry Pi2 with LMS and connecting to my Synology Server using nfs. Works great sofar. Scanning speed (cable) is the same as with my LMS instance on the Synology nas, may be a bit faster. Great job. Two questions: 1. I have some problems lately with LmsUpdate and UTF-8. I see that UTF-8 isn't supported on PicorePlayer: Operating system: piCore - EN - iso-8859-1. Is there a reason for not supporting UTF-8? 2. In LMS there is update function, should we use that one or only the one in Picoreplayer? [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: Simple Library Views plugin
Hi all, I'm happy to announce the availability of the first version of the Simple Library Views plugin. This plugin allows you to easily define library views, simply by entering a list of views to create, and then creating appropriate files in album directories to add albums to a view. Full details of the plugin are available here: http://adhawkins.github.io/SimpleLibraryViews/ Thanks to mherger and kidstypike for their assistance in the development of this plugin. This is my first ever LMS plugin, so I'd appreciate any feedback you can give. Please use this thread for any questions or comments. I have fallen foul of port limitations in my firewall with multiple upnp servers around (not that squeezelite itself is a upnp server, but LMS itself can be). Ok, SimpleLibraryView it is then. I'll do the renaming now, and post up an updated repo at some point. Will release the next version as 0.99.0, with a view to this eventually becoming 1.0. Once this is done I'll create an announcement post to see if there's a wider interest. Are we allowed descriptors like alpha, beta etc. in the version number in the repo and install.xml? Hmmm, it appears that the new libraries aren't being registered by the scan process, based on what kidstypike has just said. Should my initPlugin get run from within the scanner? It doesn't seem to be. If it isn't, how can I ensure that the registerLibrary call is made by the scanner? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin, where to start?
Just an observation .. ATM adding an "easy-virtual-library-test" file to an album folder doesn't actually do anything, a new and changed scan doesn't do anything either. The only way to get the album into a virtual library is to make a change on the Easy Virtual Library settings page, and click apply (I simply added a semi-colon). Nothing happens if you don't make any change. @mherger: Point taken, but I have to register the libraries sometime, and I figured the best way to do this was after the settings had changed. If I don't do that, then the scanner won't know about the new libraries will it? Yes, that's fine. But you shouldn't need to run the library creation from there. Trigger a scan instead. Or add this line in your loop: main::idle() unless main::SCANNER; This would at least allow the server to continue streaming to the players. Feel free to only do this once every 50 tracks or the like. Just don't stall execution of the server for more than a fraction of a second (yes, LMS is not multi-threaded). The main::SCANNER condition makes sure this isn't run when called within the scanner, because the scanner doesn't have an event loop. And one other (more complicated) option would be to use Slim::Utils::Scheduler to process the whole thing in smaller, manageable chunks. But I'd rather just trigger a scan... -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Another question, any comments on the name of the plugin? I was wondering whether 'Easy Library Views' might be more descriptive (the option in the web interface and player for selecting between them is called 'Library Views'. If I were to rename the plugin, but keep the same ID in the install.xml, would the server handle the name change? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin, where to start?
Hi, @kidstypike: I think the creation of the first library might have an issue. There are a couple of warnings in the log that refer to using an uninitialised value. I'll do some digging into it this evening to see if I can track it down. @mherger: Point taken, but I have to register the libraries sometime, and I figured the best way to do this was after the settings had changed. If I don't do that, then the scanner won't know about the new libraries will it? I was using LazySearch as an example of how to do this, but that plugin actually sets a timer to fire off the changes a short time after the settings have been edited. I should probably duplicate this behaviour so that the settings page can return immediately, and then trigger the registering of the new libraries sometime later. I agree that the documentation on the Plugin's settings page isn't enough, but before I do too much on that page, I'd like to know if the GitHub README is considered sufficient, or if it needs further detail. IMHO it's not clear that the user defined part of the filename needs to be entered in the settings page. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin, where to start?
Ok, just changed all my URLs to HTTPS and managed to install everything correctly. It still didn't prompt me to restart the server after the installation so, so what appears to happen is that all reference to the plugin disappears from the plugins page... Regarding the settings page, does the description in the GitHub README.md provide enough detail? If so, I'll update the settings page to provide a bit more info based on that. https://github.com/adhawkins/EasyVirtualLibrary Thanks Andy adhawkins's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=650 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105551 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin, where to start?
No problem, and glad it's been fixed. Does it also allow the repository URL to work over https:// ? Yes, it should in general. But there have been reports of installations which lacked some Perl modules required to do SSL. In those cases we fail. Is that the build I'll have downloaded this morning? logitechmediaserver_7.9.0~1463124735 Yes, that should be good. Ok, once I'm happy it's all installing correctly and seems to be working, I'll make an 'Announce' post. Is this forum the best place to do that? Or is one of the other topics more appropriate? No, that's the correct forum. What we're discussing here would have been better suited for the Developers group though :-). BTW: the settings page didn't make much sense to me. As a user I wouldn't know what I'd need to do there. You might want to work a bit on the description. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The reason it works now is that I've moved everything to my own web hosting for now. I'll put everything back onto GitHub with https URLs and run another installation check later. I always wondered why that can happen - may two different Version#? May you can take a look at this - when you change the plugin repo. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin, where to start?
I was hosting the binaries on github, and the URL in the repo was https:// Wow... I'm surprised we didn't hit this before. That's a bug in the plugin manager. It would not accept anything but http://. That's fixed in the next build. Thanks for the heads up! I tried changing it to http, and started getting 403 errors downloading from github. 403 is "no permissions". Are you sure you're using a public address? FWIW: I just installed 0.3.1 successfully. So this seems to be resolved? I think the plugin is largely in a working state now, would be interested in anyone else giving it a go to see how they get on. Perhaps the best way to do that would be a new post announcing its availability? Definitely, yes. This thread's subject ends in a question mark. Users tend to ignore this ;-). I usually prepend the subject with a "Announce" or something to make it clear this is not a question. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Band's Campout not updating
I have Multi Library, Dynamic Library, Custom Clock,Trackstat,Custom Browse, Walk With Me, iHeart,MusicArtistInfo,RadioParadise,SwitchPlayer,TimeSpeller,Youtube,HideMenus, PowerSave I think we're facing a bug in the plugin manager which is hitting us now as many plugin repositories have disappeared: Google finally turned off their google code services. Many plugins were hosted there, among others Triode's SwitchPlayer (and all of his other plugins). I'm wondering whether them disappearing from the repository file is causing the issue you're seeing... I just installed Ubuntu 16.04 and pulled my plugin library and preferences from the old install There's a server specific UUID in the server.prefs file. Make sure you remove this from the copy and let the new installation re-generate a new UUID. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
