Your customized styles are stored in a "styles" property in the
customclockhelper.prefs file, since it doesn't exist in your setup you
don't seem to have any customized styles in your setup or the
customclockhelper.prefs file have been deleted during the upgrade
process for some reason. It's not deleted automatically by LMS, at least
that did not happen in my setup.

The styles on the device is stored in
/etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/CustomClock.lua, so if the style on
the device is correct I suggest that you ASAP login via ssh and take a
backup of this file. As I mentioned earlier it's based on a different
format so it can't easily be imported in Custom Clock Helper but you can
at least open it in a text editor and take the values from it when you
configure a new style. If you format it with a JSON formatter its a bit
easier to read.

The predefined styles aren't bundled in the plugin/applet, they are
downloaded from the following file online:

You select style for each configuration in
Settings/Screen/Screensavers/Custom Clock Settings

If you want customize a style or create your own you do this through

Currently running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.1 - 1494667952 on
windows 10  and noted that remote playback on iPeng does not show my
phone as a player outside my local network. I am forwarding ports 9000
TCP and 3483 TCP/UDP. This has worked well for several years. I can also
see and control all my squeezebox players outside my local network. Have
the port forward requirements changed or could this be an issue with the
latest iPeng release? Any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot?

I have also from yesterday started to use squeezer from my touch, but
now I cannot see Spotty on it indeed
only I can play my music from the SD card and the radio if I connect the
SD card from the touch.
Is there a way to have a remote control on Spotty??

right the first thing was done
but indeed I had to select my computer name via the my music menu for it
to install the 7.8...something version

and here it is in my application a nice SPOTTY working like a charm..

"high quality" (320kbps) streams.

Hi

Has something changed with the format of the cover-art?  I get all the
title data, but cover-art does not appear.  I can change the
>performance>resize on mysqueezebox and the cover-art appears again, on
radios and webinterface (not PiCore- but that is probably a different
issue).  I know this has worked with re-size on LMS.

LMS runs on a Pi.  I can see the cover-art comes from https - I have
support for that enabled and using a recent version of LMS.

Any ideas?? and isn't it a great station!!

What a bummer that NPR leaves the thin... website in a broken state

I still cross my fingers that their API will be usable and that you will
find time and interest to look into it someday

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can run Spotty on the CPU you
have in your NAS.
There seems to be massive confusion about which Synology NASs that are
capable of running Spotty though, it would probably help if someone who
knows their way around the Synology products could compile a table over
which models that should work and which won't.

Well, it does if you are running the Synology Supported LMS.. So you
need to run LmsRepack to get on 7.9 version Which a lot folks are
not doing.

Don't think so but it's been awhile since I looked at NPR API  .  The
plugin used the thin.npr.org interface which was aimed at vision
impaired but it broke when NPR stopped using WMA and NPR have not fixed
it even after asking about it. At the time the other NPR API wasn't fit
to use for a plugin.  I had started looking at what APIs NPR's Apps used
but hadn't had the time to follow through.

But there are others - like weekendedition - where this seems not

I would like to play playlists from Spotify such as "discover weekly"
(7i9dQZEVXcXyaZdwuIqq2) from my LMS clients. But I get no response using
CLI commands. Albums and tracks work fine.

Some other question or problem.

After updating CustomClockHelper my custom themes are gone. :(

They are on my radios and touches but not on the server. Any chance to
restore them from the devices by ssh?

Thanks for reporting, I think this has been broken since sometime last
year when I changed my server infrastructure.
Will try to fix it but it's likely going take some time, looks like it's
related to my server infrastructure not working properly.

For now I would advice people to NOT use the download buttons in SQL
Playlist, Custom Browse and Multi Library plugins as they will likely
hang the server.

Apologies for posting a problem as my first message, but I am unable to
run Spotty on Windows 10.

Windows 10 with all updates
Latest version of LMS
32 -bit version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015

This is the screen I get every time on opening the Spotty app.  I have
seen this problem reported in previous pages. but there is no definitive
solution that seems to work in my case.   Does anyone have a solution?

I have a DS213 with LMS, and I'm really fond of having Spotify on my
Squeezebox. Now that this dream has shattered, I've tried Spotty, but it
doesn't run under LMS. After reading some of this thread, I've stopped
LMS, installed the RePack, and tried to install Spotty in there.
However, I get this error message:

Spotty only works on/via LMS.
Nothing wrong in general with running it on a NAS, but depends on
processor/architecture. There are some NAS models (processors) it
doesn't work on. It works fine on my Synologi NAS, but which model do

OK bpa ... I think I've got that.

So, I carry on with 1.5.4.* and its repo, but keep an eye open for when
the beta repo delivers the stable 1.5.4 (how will i know this?), and
then switch to that?

I executed the script myself before your post so that probably caused
the confusion, the central repository file seems to contain the correct
versions now.

The reason I've decided to release them for free is because I feel I no

license fee.
I also feel it's important that the plugins continue to work even if my
license server would break, so I felt it was a better to completely
remove the license checks instead of just offering everyone a free
license.

I doubt anyone is interested to take over the maintenance but please let
me know if you are, I'm happy to spend some time to answer questions
regarding the code if someone is interested to take over the
maintenance.

The Custom Browse, SQL Playlist and Custom Scan plugins has also been
updated to be compatible with LMS 7.9, so hopefully this means that all
my plugins should now be compatible with the latest LMS release.

Finally I'd like to take the chance to send a big "Thank You" to
everyone who have donated money or purchased licenses to my plugins. The
plugins wouldn't have been what they are today without your contribution
and the received money have encourgaged me to continue the maintenance
as long as I have. I'll try to continue to fix issues caused by new LMS
versions, so all this doesn't mean that I'll stop maintainig the plugins
completely, but any issues might not be fixed until I've upgraded my own
setup to a new LMS version.

I think it's great to see that this community is still active and new
plugins have been released every time I visit the forum.

Perhaps that's also a place for a donation link. I think everyone that'
s still uses lms know that it would not exists without the effort of a
few people and if one uses a product of such a volunteer then a donation

If it works at the moment - leave it.  Going back can sometimes has
problems with preferences. If you are not using Flac then any updates to
V1.5..4.* are unlilkely to affect you.

1.5.4.* is the version which has Flac implemented.  An update (soon) to
1.5.4.5 will also support the BBC live Binaural( another experiment).
User of 1.5.4.* know that each version has not been tested by others and
could have problems which may break the plugin and require another
update.  

The "beta" repo ( a bit of a misnomer as the beta refers to BBCs beta
HTML5 trial not the plugin version) will deliver the latest version
which is "stable" which means any update will be to a version which has
already been tested by other users and there is unlikely to be another
update for months. So far beta repo has been 1.5.2 in November 2016 and
1.5.3 in June 2017(although 1.5.3 started testing in Feb) .  The "beta"
repo also inlcude the latest version of Extra.

V1.5.4.0 started testing in April 2017. V1.5.4.4 was "released" in June
2017.  As there are a few small bugs to be fixed and some performance
tweaks I expect that 1.5.4.* will be revved soon and if there are no
problems with it then by end of August  - 1.5.4.6  will be put into the
"beta" repo.  At which point the V154 repo becomes redundant as V1.5.4.*
branch development will be finished.

I started to develop my first Squeezebox plugin in beginning of 2006 and
now more than 11 years later I've decided to release all my commercial
plugins for free. 

This means that neither License Manager plugin nor a license is required
to run the latest version of my commercial plugins. The free versions
contains the same functionality as the latest commercial versions but
with the license checks removed.

This means that the following plugins/applets are now available for
free:
- Album Flow
- Custom Browse
- Custom Clock/Custom Clock Helper
- Custom Libraries
- Custom Scan
- Custom Skip
- Dynamic Playlist
- Multi Library
- SQL Playlist
- Screen Switcher
- Title Switcher
- TrackStat

The new versions of my plugins is available in my repository:

They will also appear in the central repository as soon as the central
repository has been updated.

Please let me know through this thread if I've accidentally broken any
of the plugins when I removed the license checks.

The reason I've decided to release them for free is because I feel I no
longer have the time to maintain them as much as needed to justify a
license fee.
I also feel it's important that the plugins continue to work even if my
license server would break, so I felt it was a better to completely
remove the license checks instead of just offering everyone a free
license.

I doubt anyone is interested to take over the maintenance but please let
me know if you are, I'm happy to spend some time to answer questions
regarding the code if someone is interested to take over the
maintenance. 

The Custom Browse, SQL Playlist and Custom Scan plugins has also been
updated to be compatible with LMS 7.9, so hopefully this means that all
my plugins should now be compatible with the latest LMS release. 

Finally I'd like to take the chance to send a big "Thank You" to
everyone who have donated money or purchased licenses to my plugins. The
plugins wouldn't have been what they are today without your contribution
and the received money have encourgaged me to continue the maintenance
as long as I have. I'll try to continue to fix issues caused by new LMS
versions, so all this doesn't mean that I'll stop maintainig the plugins
completely, but any issues might not be fixed until I've upgraded my own
setup to a new LMS version.

I think it's great to see that this community is still active and new
plugins have been released every time I visit the forum.

Hi there. Updating to spotty worked like a charm (except got the same
nagging popup as mberger  i just ignored it, put in my credentials
in the settings and now the popup doesn´t seem to appear again).

... but stepped into one problem: when i want to add one of my spotify
playlists to lms favorites they are shown under favorites, but selecting
them shows an error like

Beim Laden des Remote-Feed von ist ein Fehler aufgetreten: (Cannot
request non-HTTP URL
spotify:user:xx:playlist:3oJdD4FOy4hAiozJwut7eo)

Songs work the same way (add them to favorites and play them) without
this error.

any suggestions?

Thanks Michael. I learned about the forthcoming problem yesterday and
made the switch from Triode's plug-in today. Despite having to download
the Microsoft environment in only took ten minutes and is working
smoothly.

One thing - I used to get a persistent Windows popup saying
'spotifyd.exe has stopped working' although everything was fine. If I
shut it down it would pop up again immediately. After a while it stayed
closed. Now I have the same thing with 'spotty.exe!' Does anyone have an
idea how I can get rid of it?

All done and now OK. I had MS VC 2015 redist installed, but I also had
about 8 previous versions back to 2005. Tried to install the very latest
versions, but it wouldn't let me until I uninstalled all other versions.
I'm expecting a bunch of stuff that won't run, but Spotty is!

I understood that Spotty does not support the processor in my NAS at
this moment.  Are the limitations of the processor such that ARM LE will
never be supported or are there any plans to support it in the future?


I'd be happy to provide support for ARMLE. Unfortunately there seems to 
be an issue in one of the dependencies. It might actually be a 
cross-compilation issue only. But I don't have an ARMLE environment to 
play with...

My question, though small, is there a timezone or clock setting that
Spotty uses to identify users timezone and propose playlists.


Spotty would use your server's time. Check the time on your NAS if you 
get incorrect data.

Quick note on this part:  if you're on 64-bit Windows, you might think
you need to install the 64-bit version of the VC 2015 runtime.   If
you're still getting the missing vcruntime140.dll error, go back and
download the 32-bit (x86) version of the installer from Microsoft.

The Spotty v1.1.1 helper app won't run and I can't run the x64 version
of MS VC 2015 runtime either. I get an error with both the Spotty helper
app and the MS VC 2015 runtime that they are not supported win32 apps.

Did you choose the 32-bit version of the MSVC library?

just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of thanks.  install was easy,
and it works perfectly.  like many others, i'm seeing 705k OGG converted
to FLAC, and to my ears at least, it sounds better than the old plugin @
320k.  maybe upsampling, or has Michael somehow managed to tap in to the
rumored lossless Spotify stream?


No magic involved (and therefore most likely no improvement in sound 
quality). The number is due to the fact that librespot (the library used 
to do the heavy lifting) would only output PCM, but not raw OGG.

Lame is now installed and operating. So a bit of an update. If I connect
to LMS remotely via 4G using iPeng & VPN with bitrate limiting on I now
get better results but there are still unacceptable pauses. If I switch
to the old VB2.3 there isn't any problem. I think I may have hit a
limitation of a Pi3 as LMS server. I shall continue to tweak and if I
can get acceptable results I shall post back.


Did you ever check your Pi's load using top? Imho it should have enough 
oomph to handle transcoding. After all it has four cores. Enough to 
assign each to LMS, Spotty, and lame.

My storage is an usb HDD 2.5
Browse my local library is a bit slow but acceptable for my daily
usage.


What hardware is your LMS running on? I might have lost that piece of 
information somewhere...


If it was a Pi (which model?), then I was more wondering about the kind 
of SD card. Because the cache most likely is stored on that card, and 
not your external storage.
