I think you need to uncheck it for both players
and check it on both players when you want DOP where it's supported
(thus no sound where not supported)
for the moment I experienced in my system I couldn't mix these settings

Synology packages it, I ran into the same response with them in late
2014 (I found the email to confirm)

I had replied:
"Logitech has never made a Synology package. Synology has always taken
the appropriate ARM release tar balls from the Logitech website &
created the package."

They wrote back:
"My apologies, you are correct. I was looking into it with my support
team, and we do not have a release date scheduled for the next logitech
release date in our documentation. I have submitted an inquiry about it
to our developers, and will let you know if we hear back about it."

Yes, with the Perl update Synology reverted the Audio::Scan version back
to 0.93. This means no DSD support.

I already made a request to update CPAN/auto/Audio/Scan/Scan.so.
(->Synology Ticket: #305910)

Let's hope the will update the packages before the final release of
DSM6.1.

Clearing the browser's cache explicitly did it! (I thought that pressing
shift + reload would also reload the webpage from scratch, not from the
cache - obviously this was not the case.)

Well, I didn't make any changes to the webui that would cause the skin
not to load. You could try to stop/start Logitech Media Server from the
Package Center. Other than that I would still think it has something to
do with your browser (cache).

Oh, I didn't realize you meant the actual system logs. You are
completely right, the Log Center is a real PITA. Debugging system

their logs in /var/log/synolog, but it would be nice to see some kind of

Looks like you found the bug already. Here's the relevant output from
Settings/Information:

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1453293926 @ Thu Jan 21 04:09:26

...
Betriebssystem: Synology DiskStation - DE - utf8

Perl-Version: 5.24.0 - armle-linux

Do you need any additional information?

(This is the Synology-LMS with just the one file updated to the current
GitHub version. BTW: DSM packages do log errors printed to
stderr/stdout, that's available right at the bottom of the sidebar in
the Package Center.)

At some point you'll have to update me on how this build process works.
What you are doing, what Synology is doing etc. But this probably isn't

your LmsUpdate package to '1130'.

If you can send me a package for DSM6 on ARM, I can have a look at this
from the command line.

Synology doesn't come with a nice logging tool. It just registers start
stop actions of packages, not even their processes, so sorry, no info
there.
During start up I see sometimes Slimserver.pl pop up for a few seconds,
but thats it.

As said, if I can help in any way to clear this thing ... any time. For
now I will build the packages first to get Lms up and running again.

Somehow that isn't working. I added the commit to my package and LMS
fails to start. Removing the commit and re-installing the package solves
the problem.
For now I will create new packages because of the latest Synology Perl
update.
But please contact me if you need some further testing.

What would it report running:

perl -MConfig -e'print $Config{myarchname}'

Because the Synology systems seem not to give any indication about what
architecture they're using (see Settings/Information/Architecture).

Converting ALAC to FLAC is a Lossless process, and probably requires
less CPU. So, there is no 'need' to convert your ALAC files to PCM.
I use the following settings for ALAC files:

Martin,

Thanks. It is just strange that this is happening. I actually converted
problematic ALAC to FLAC and back to ALAC with no success (FLACS were
fine) (I am using dBpoweramp Music Converter for all my conversions). I
am curious to find out more about LMS and ALAC. Is Squeesebox Touch
hardware compatible with native ALAC playback?

I am currently converting ALAC to PCM, assuming that one conversion is
better than two, needed for FLAC. What do you think?

Hi VSMI,

I can't tell. Nothing has changed in libs or binaries. All test files,
including ALAC, work on my system, but I don't have a lot of them. Also
I let my NAS convert the ALAC to FLAC, to prevent compatibility issues
on some squeezebox player. This has no effect on the sound quality, and
almost no effect on the NAS performance.
Looking at your signature, there is a newer version available,
7.9.0-161.1115. But AFAIK there are no changes in this build what could
have a positive effect on the issue.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Test] Repo for LMS 7.9.0 on Synology DSM 5.*

2016-12-15 Thread Linvincible

Hi Martin,

My question on the DSD thread hasn't been answered, and even with the
latest update the "enable DSD over PCM" option in the players settings
(DSDPlayer tab) still shows the same behaviour.
I have 2 players but only one supports DSD, so I want to have one
"Enable DSD over PCM" option checked for that player and leave it
unchecked for the other player, as the interface allows.
But I still need to have both unchecked if I want the conversion to PCM
to happen for the second player. Then of course I don't get DOP on the
first player.

Is the stream meant to be individual to each player, or is there
something that prevents the "enable DSD over PCM" option to take effect
on each player differently?

Regards,

Charles

Hi Charles,

File structure seems OK, but I'm at work so can't do a proper check on
the file. But please check if

- In Package Center: go to ->settings -> set trust level to 'all

That update could be the reason. After a security update Synology might
have changed these settings.

Let me know if this is the case, if not I will look at the file this
evening, thanks,

So, 'Moode' (http://moodeaudio.org/) has a nice Crossfeed DSP which I
use for Headphones, the build-in Squeezelite for normal audio listening.

I like the iSabre V3. I switched from picoreplayer to Moose, which has

Yes I know, you asked me before ;)
But first I want to complete most of the theme before thinking about a
plugin.
Currently the theme is available on 'github'

After creating this theme, and probably a dark version too. Second, I
would like to seee if it's possible to add an third pane to the UI.
1 left menu (as current menu)
2 center menu output.
3 right playlist, controls (as it is now)

With larger screen these days, we could use a menu open at all time,
and have a better screen layout.

But I haven't looked into it yet and don't even know if this is
possible.

Greetings,

Martin

Thanks Will, thats usefull info. The bottom buttons need more attention,
that's certainly one of the things on the list.

After that I will see if I can create a dark theme, but first I want all
buttons to be correctt. Some pop-ups need attention too.

Looking good and working fine on my 212+.

Looks very Window's 10 modern now!! ;-) Thanks!

Only small thing is that I couldn't quite see the close and apply
buttons at the bottom of the settings screens. i.e. In the plugins
settings screen etc. Think because they don't seem to have much of a
surround. I'm not complaining though, it's all excellent, and I'm very

Normally I'll wait till i think the amount of bug fixes, new features or
tweaks justify an update for Synology users. But it might be a good idea
to do an update in the next week or so. So stay tuned ;-)

Hope so, thats why I'm making adjustments. The current buttons seem to
float over the ui, instead of being part of it. That' s why I make it
more flat. But we might end up with a boring UI :-)

Yup, :) I like to stay up te date. The only thing I add to the package

It's not selected by default. also for some architectures Lame is added

Oops, DS712+

I always remember that the number of bays was first, and this is 2 bay,
however you can expand to 7...

Yes, I have tried the 7.9 package on the 409+, and can see a few new
things in the settings, nothing groundbreaking, but nice to stay up to
date where possible.

It sounds like the community is developing slimserver, and you're
repackaging for all DSM / DS version combination? Is that what's
happening?

Hi Dave,

DS217+, is it out already?
I normally just point to the Logitech/slimserver git, a lot of changes
are bug fixes and not additional features.
All the changes/new features are listed here:
http://htmlpreview.github.io/?https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/blob/public/7.9/Changelog7.html
Please take a look at the change log and see if there is any reason for
you to upgrade. I've also a 7.9 package available for the DS409+. You
could install the 7.9 version on that machine first and see what its all
about.

Greetings,

Martin

Quick Question - I Hope!

I have 7.7.3-044 running on 217+ with DSM 5
I have also got an old 409+ which is DSM4 - can't go any higher.

I want to update my 217+ to DSM6, however was rather worried that it did
not support the Logitech Media Server.
It looks like your work, and it seems like a lot of it!, means that one
can still use LMS on later versions of DSM, and in fact use the latest
version of LMS on older versions of DSM (I see the latest supported LMS
for DSM4 was 7.7.3-023)

Is that right?

Apart from keeping it all working on various devices with various
versions of DSM, are there actually any functional changes?

When I look at the changelog, it mostly says "applying github changes",
and it's not clear if there's any end user change?

I ask because I use some booms, some players, some touches, and some
jogglers, and would like to know what might be different / possible.

Many thanks in advance

Dave

Makes me wonder: will the License Manager plugin still work when
Logitech closes MySqueezebox.com? Will Trackstat and Sugacube still work
in that case?

I have been running version "LogitechMediaServer-i686-7.9.0-161.1091" on
my DS415play effortless for some months, just great to have this
available.
The time will come that Logi is going to pull the plug on
MySqueezebox.com, I hope we will all be able to survive that moment ;-)
Great job!
