Hi Frank,

Please send me a PM through the app and I can assist you. This seems to
be a Windows 10 bug where license information on the device is out of
step. If you can't send a message through the app because the trial
period of the app has ended, just reinstall it.

Well streaming is not the root of the problem. The problem is that when
an app goes into the background it's current state is saved and then all
processing for that app stops (with the exception of the aforementioned
location apps).

A music app only seems to work in the background because it just hands
off the duty of playing music to the system. After which the app doesn't
need to be running because it's the system's internal player that's
actually playing music.

Yes an app doesn't need to be running to play a stream since it's not
really playing it. The app basically just hands off the duty of playing
music to the system.

A Squeezebox player requires a constant network connection with the
server to receive control signals and send back status information.

Ah, I sort of understand - so the real limitation is the network
connection or communication.
Streaming of a radio station seems OK, but I suppose once the connection
is made there is no work for the app to do.

Music playing doesn't really count as an app working in the background
because it's not really the music app that's playing the music. The
system provides a background music player that an app can pass a file
name or a url to. The background music player only provides basic
playback controls and I think the app can also provide a callback object
for when the song ends. The callback though has to be something called
a background agent and has severe limitations on what it can do and how
long it can run.

There is one exception to the background running rule and that is
location apps.

Doesn't appear to be a limitation, audio will play in the background
including the lock screen.
There are even player controls available with the phone still locked.

I quite often listen to music through headphones with my phone locked in
my pocket.

It is also possible to browse the internet etc. with music playing in
the background.

A full fledged Squeezebox Player app on Windows Phone is impossible, or
at least somewhat useless, because apps cannot run in the background on
Windows Phone.

Hi, here just to inform you that in Logitech Media Server vesion 7.9 we
now have Additional Browse Menu (is a standard plugin form logitech)
that allows you to define menu items based on Artist Roles (composer is
one). Any menu item could then be enabled or disabled for each and every
player.

Then you have the capability to define 'libraries' (called also sub
libraries or virtual libraries), each library being a partial view of
your music collection.

Easiest way to define a library is using Advanced searches and save them
as ... libraries using the standard option. This way you could define
i.e. 'classical' library based on genres.

Library could be difined in more sofisticated ways by plugins, an
example is provided with the server (sub-library demo plugin) and you
could just modify and save it as a user plugin.

No matter how Library are defined, you could then select one of them by
the "library view' menu item, and from this moment on, all the user
interface will work as if your collection was limited to te selected
library contents, until you revert the library selection.

In a more sophisticated way, using Additional Browse as explained before
to define the composer browse, you could limit the browse to a specific
Library, that way you coud have, i.e. 'Classical by composer',
'Classical by conductor', 'Pop by Artist' and 'Jazz by Artist' browses
each working on a subset of Artists defined both by the library (genre)
and role played.

More, everithing here is 'standard' by logitech in 7.9, no additonal
fees or licences required. and is the infrastructures plugin developers
are going to use from now one.

Custom browse, togheter with the others great Earland's plugins, are
still needed to define browses based on 'custom' attributes, but not
reuired anymore when using 'standard LMS attributes.

Thanks to Michael for this.

Please have a look to this functionalities and provide them support in
your great app.

Marco.

Hi Marc,
I love using Soundicity on my Windows Phone to control my Duet.
There is one scenario though which doesn't seem to work for me: when I
add new albums and rescan my Library, the "New music" list (Nouveautés)
doesn't seem to update.
Yesterday I added 2 albums and rescanned the Library. Though the New
Music was correct on the Duet Controler, it was still not updated on
Soundicity and I couldn't manage to get this list correct.

Any idea?

Thanks

Just found these which might be helpful:
http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/wpapps/Live-Streaming-App-on-59052596
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsphone/develop/system.windows.controls.mediaelement(v=vs.105).aspx

and the section on buffer management here looks useful too:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh180779(v=vs.95).aspx

Hope this helps!

I have successfully used Stream IT (not Stream IT Pro) on my Lumia to
connect to the SlimServer mp3 stream using
http://servername:9000/stream.mp3, and it plays in the background
allowing me to switch back to Soundicity to control it (the stream
appears as a new player in Soundicity). The only problem is that the
streaming buffer is too large (nearly two minutes) which means that
skipping a track in Soundicity doesn't take effect until all the music
in the Stream IT buffer has played. I don't know if there is an mp3
stream SDK for WP8 but if there is then this would be a simple way to
incorporate playback (from local servers at least) in Soundicity. The
skip/buffer issue could be solved by either reducing the buffer size (if
the SDK allows this) or by having Soundicity restart the streaming on
any skip action.

Thanks for a brilliant app. I had no hesitation in purchasing!

I'm only here to post a feature request, since I don't have a SB server

Please, implement also playback (like iPeng / Squeezeplay for

Looks like there are no apps allowing to do that...

Hi Thomas,

Just had another look at my code and realised that I have taken out
updating of the main tile in favour of updating player specific tiles:
If you select Settings from the Home Menu of your player and then Pin
Player to Start, then you will get a player specific tile in your start
menu. I update this tile every time you start Soundicity, but no more
often than 2mins and also from a periodic background task. I ran,
however, into issues to do with the availability of a wireless
connection when the phone is locked and not connected to a power outlet.
You might find that the player tiles will not get updated regurlarly
without a power connection.

The actual Update Live Tile setting refers to the player specific tiles.
As indicated above, this used to be different in the past.

Let me know if that answers your question.

Best wishes,

Marc.

Hi Marc,

Thanks for your answer. The main application tile's background does not
appear on my start screen. I pinned the tile to the start screen by
long-tapping on the application in the app list. It only shows the
Soundicity-"S" and won't flip while remote controlling the Squeezebox.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your feedback!

The Live Tile Support is a legacy settings that I put in before there
were individual player tiles. It controls whether the main application
tile's background should be updated or not. The player tiles will always
update, which means that any change to the live tile settings will have
no effect on them. I will probably make that a bit clearer in the
settings or rethink it.

I totally agree about the playlist. Reordering tracks is one thing that
could be easier. I will have a look at that one, too.

Again, thanks,

2013-09-22 Thread th80

Hi Marc,

first: thanks for this great app. I just bought a WP 8 phone after using
the WP 7 Lumia 800 for 1,5 years. In the past i was not happy with the
existing remote apps. Now i stumbled upon your app and i am really happy
with it.

I have two comments (questions/feature request).

1) What is the setting "Live Tile Support" for? When the setting is
enabled there is no live tile function on the app tile. When i pin the
player tile, it shows the album cover of current played track even if
this setting is disabled. So what does the setting change?

2) Re-ordering the songs in the playlist is a little slow. If i want to
change the order of some tracks i can't drag the desired track to a
desired position but have to long-tap a song and can choose to move it
one position or to bottom or end. I would like to move a song for
several positions at once (like dragging a song).

But anyway, this app rocks!

Thanks again,
Thomas

2013-07-19 Thread Marc Bartsch

Hi,

Happy to announce version 1.14 of Soundicity, your Squeezebox controller
app for Windows Phone. The new features are:

1. Optional Prompt on Exit: You can enable to be prompted when exiting
Soundicity in the menu settings.

2. Setting Alarm Time: Setting the alarm time has been replaced with a
Windows Phone time picker control.

3. Bugfix: Global search did not always return correct search results.

As always, let me know if you have any suggestions.

Best wishes,

Marc.

Thanks for testing. Yes, that's what I found out over the weekend. Only
the first search will go through. This is fixed now and I am currently
testing the new release before I send it off for certification to
Microsoft. This release will also contain the time picker for setting
the alarm.

Marc. I tested a little farther and I think I found the issue. It does
have to do with Soundicity sending the wrong string. I searched for
"Dave" and went on to search Artists. It worked as it should. I then
backed out and searched again. This time I searched for "Before". I
went on to select Albums. No results. I then searched for "Before"
again and selected Artists and it showed me the results of the search
for "Dave". It seems like the string isn't being updated all the time
for some reason which is why I had the issue earlier as well. Hope that
helps.

Absolutely. I guess neither Soundicity nor the server were helpful in
checking the input passed to them. I am currently investigating a time
picker. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

One more thing to follow up with the alarm. I tried to set the alarm
time yesterday and I typed 0440 instead of 04:40 like I should have. I
hit enter and it messed up the alarm on my Boom. No matter what I did
with trying to set and reset the alarm, I could not get the alarm icon
to show up on the Boom screen and the alarm function wouldn't work.
Restarting the server didn't fix it. I had to delete all the server
settings in the advanced tab to fix it.

I'll know to never do that again, but I think there's a bug with the
server with how it handles an invalid string being passed to to. So,
the app at least probably needs a way to verify a valid string is being
passed to the server.

Thanks for that. I will have a look at the alarm and the performance
issues. As far as the search is concerned, all that runs on the server
and I merely display and respond to what the server sends back. If it
does not send back any artists, then the server thinks there aren't any
artist - unless, of course, Soundicity sends the correct search string
in the first place. When I tried it this morning, it seemed to work fine
and I was able to search for artists. Could you let me know which player
and which server you are using? Then I can test it again. I will also
test again whether Soundicity gets confused with the search term.

Best wishes,

Thanks Marc for the updates. I think those make the app really nice.
Certainly the best one are the windows phone market. It's awesome to
have a developer who is so responsive.

A few more requests/suggestions now that I have played around with it a
little more.
1. It would be nice to use the windows phone time interface to set the
alarm clock rather than manually type a time in. Just like setting an
alarm on the actual phone.
2. I don't know if I don't understand the search on the app or if it has
bugs, but it doesn't work like I would think it would. It seems to only
work for song titles for me for songs in my music library, but to use it
I have to specify after I type my search that I want to look in my music
library and specifically for songs. If I search for an artist, nothing
is returned.
3. You've probably already worked on this, so I'm not sure how much more
can be done. It's probably better with a faster phone...but if you
could speed up time it takes to open the app to be able to start using
it, that will always improve the user experience. It currently takes
about 4-5 seconds on my Nokia Lumia 710 running windows 7.8.

Thanks again for the great work so far.

Hi,

I just released version 1.13 of Soundicity - your Squeezebox controller
for Windows Phone 7/8. You will find it in the Windows Phone Store ready
to download.

The new feature is:

1. Create your own home menu: Go the menu settings to show/hide existing
home menu items or to promote lower level menu items to the home menu
and choose only those menu items that you really want!

Anything you like to improve? Please, leave a suggestion in this forum.
Just like with other releases, most of the above features/fixes were
suggested/reported by users.

Best wishes,

Marc.

Marc, thanks for the response. I wasn't thinking of using the icons
from the server. I was thinking of using icons kinda like the ones at
the bottom for favorites etc. Ones in line with the metro feel. I
don't think the server ones fit very well. Kinda like the apps have
icons next to them in the apps page.

At any rate, that was the least important part of the ideas I had. I'm
excited to see you implement some of the other changes. Really nice app
overall.

I am pretty much only passing the IP address on to the underlying .NET
network classes and I am not sure how a local hostname would be
resolved, but I will have a look and see what I can find out.

What Soundicity does at the moment is, first, takes any lyrics contained
in your music file and then tries to contact the plug-ins. I will give
other sources another try, but these sources come and go since they are
mostly not legal. If you have a good suggestion for one, let me know.

Good idea to be able to remove entries from the home menu. I will have a
look at a remove option as well as an option to promote submenu items to
the main menu (like Alarms or Playlists).

That is a really good suggestion which I should have done from the
beginning. If Soundicity had a home menu customization, then that could
be supressed there (see above).

Absolutely right. Again see item above.

I am personally not a huge fan of those Logitech icons and I quite like
Soundicity without it.This is more in line with Microsoft's Metro Design
language which postulates a rather simple design without any chrome, but
this is of course personal taste. iOS is quite different in that
respect. The second reason is that I cannot retrieve all icons from the
server and would need to provide them with the app. This could
potentially lead to copyright issues since I don't own these icons.

Yes, I will have a look at that and see what kind of customization
settings would makes sense.

Anyway, thanks again. Highly appreciated.

Have a nice weekend,

Marc.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Soundicity - SB Controller App for Windows Phone 7.5/8

2013-06-30 Thread philly4

I have a few comments for the app. Overall, I'd say a really good
start:

1. It would be nice if you could type in the host name instead of the
raw IP address in hostname setup. I'm not sure how difficult this is or
if it's impossible.
2. It would be nice if the app was able to retrieve lyrics without
additional 3rd party plugins required on the server. I know other apps
do this pretty well.
3. The home menu is a little cluttered to me. It just has too much
small text. Since the app opens to the home menu, it should have the
most used options as the most prominent. It would be nice if it had
icons and/or it could either be customized better somehow (like remove
“radio” as I never use it).

Things I would recomend:
a. Remove the app gallery from the home menu. It can be put in the “my
apps” submenu like it is in the web interface. This isn't something
that most people use on a daily basis. It doesn't need to take up space
on the home screen.
b. Remove favorites. There’s already an icon for favorites at the
bottom on the screen. There isn’t text for “albums” or “artists”, so
why have it for favorites.
c. Add icons to all the text.
d. Possibly add a home menu customize section in the settings to display
or hide any of the home menu entries.

2013-06-28 Thread BroozerX

I just got the update yesterday, the checkbox thing is really a great
addition.

I've tried using it without connection to the internet (just pull the
cable of my modem), it seems to 'hang' once in a while on newly added
music to my library. I gues that has to do with the lack of
internetconnection?

By now its by far the best squeezeremote i've seen around, you got any
idea if you gonna release it on Windows 8 (tablet or PC) also?
If so, minor suggestion for that already, to support media-control
buttons (majority of music-players in Windows 8 do not support it).

Thank you. Yes, the checkbox selection is my favourite new feature.

I will have a look at the 'hang' issue. I reckon there is a very long
timeout, because nothing is coming back.

I have started on a Win 8 app version but this will take some more
time.

Best wishes,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Soundicity - SB Controller App for Windows Phone 7.5/8

2013-06-24 Thread Marc Bartsch

Hi,

I just released version 1.11 of Soundicity your Squeezebox controller
for Windows Phone 7/8. You will find it in the Windows Phone Store ready
to download.

The new features are:

1. Multiple album/song selection: So far it was difficult to add two or
more albums/songs/etc to the playlist. You had to hold an album and then
choose the add option. In this release, just tap the gap before an album
and checkboxes appear just like in WP's mail app. Then select the albums
you want to listen to and either play those, play them next or add them
to the playlist. Quick and easy to build up a playlist. To cancel
selection mode, tap a song or hit the back button.

2. Editing playlist: If you want to edit a playlist, please also tap the
gap before a song.

3. Artist bio: LastFm's artist bio's were a bit short and I switched to
Wikipedia to retrieve infos. Now, I know this is not yet perfect, since
sometimes it finds just a general extract instead of the band info, but
I hope to refine that over time.

4. Artist images in the background: I also show artist images that are
used on Wikipedia in the background and cycle through them. If you want
to just see the images, tap the three dots at the top and then on the
button with the eye for a kisk mode. Hit the back button to go back.
Artist images can be turned off in the menu settings.

5. One user reported heat problems with his Lumia 920 when using
Soundicity which will be no doubt be caused by polling the server over
wifi. I added an option to set the polling frequency which anyone with
the same problem can use to decrease the amount of wifi activity.

6. Turn of Now Playing slider: If you find yourself dragging the slider
on the Now Playing view instead of switching to a different view, you
can now turn off manual dragging of the slider in the menu settings.

7. Smoother visual transitions: Overall I added smoother transitions
when switching covers for example.

8. And of cause several bugfixes.

Anything you like to improve? Please, leave a suggestion in this forum.
Just like with other releases, most of the above features/fixes were
suggested/reported by users.

Best wishes,

Marc.

Yes, I have been looking into this and I think it should be doable. Will
probably give it a go next week.

Yes, an accidental fast-forward/reverse can be locked easily. I will add
a new settings entry for this.

Thanks for your suggestions and best wishes,

Definitely like the app and only have 2 suggestions.
(1) As I had mentioned via email, I would like to see a quicker method
to add multiple or individual songs to a playlist (possibly similar to
your playlist editing feature using checked boxes). I usually add many
songs quickly and find that holding a finger over a song for a few
seconds is too slow. This is a very important feature to me.
(2) I find that when scrolling through tabs, I often fast-forward or
reverse the actual playing of a song when swiping the "Now Playing" tab.
Is there any way to lock this feature? If not I will avoid the center
of the screen when swiping. This is a very minor issue.

Hi,

Thanks for testing Soundicity. Those messages indicate that something is
not configured correctly.

If Soundicity says 'waiting for players', then it did connect fine to
either mysb.com or your local server, but the server did not return any
players. If Soundicity says "Waiting for server' then the server did not
respond. Could you check your IP address and port for your local server
in Soundicity's settings and make sure that Squeezeplay is connected to
the right server? Could you also check you mysb.com credentials in the
settings?

To answer you question :-): Soundicity does support SB players. I am
currently controlling a SqueezeLite player with Soundicity.

Let me know if that helps.

Best wishes,

Marc.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Soundicity - SB Controller App for Windows Phone 7.5/8

2013-04-25 Thread Marc Bartsch

Hi,

These are instructions of how to create a single Composers menu entry in
My Music using the CustomBrowse Plugin. Such a menu item will be cached
by the latest version of Soundicity and allows for a quick access to
composers.

1. Open the server web front end and install the CustomBrowse and
LicenseManager Plugin from the Plugin tab on the settings page of your
server.
2. From the Advanced tab choose LicenseManger and make sure you have a
valid license for CustomBrowse. There is a 30-day test license
available.
3. From the Advanced tab choose Custom Browse.
4. Set a valid Browse Configuration Directory.
5. Set Menu Position to Extra. This will hide the Custom Browse menu in
the Extra menu and won’t show up in My Music.
6. Choose Manage Menus from the Settings Section drop down.
7. Choose Create New Menu and then Composers => Next => Save.
8. Choose Enabled menus.
9. Uncheck all.
10. Check Composers in both columns.
11. Click Apply and restart your server.

Let me know whether this works for you.

All the best,

Marc.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Soundicity - SB Controller App for Windows Phone 7.5/8

2013-04-25 Thread Marc Bartsch

Hi,

I am happy to announce the release of version 1.10 of Soundicity. You
will find it in the Windows Phone Store ready to download.

The new features are:

* Individual Player Tiles: Soundicity no longer updates the main
application tile. Instead, go to the player settings and pin each player
individually to your phone's start menu.

* Song Info: Tap the now playing album cover for song info. This will
display the available tags the Squeezebox server extracted from your
music files.

* Composer Menu Item Support: If you have configured a top-level
composers menu item using the CustomBrowse plugin, Soundicity will cache
the composers locally and give you quick access. See my next post for a
description of how to setup this composer menu entry.

* Wake-On-Lan: Machines won't wake up in all circumstances. Magic
packets will now be sent via the broadcast address of your subnet
several times. I hope that fixes the issue. Please let me know.

* Local Cache of albums etc.: The local cache will now automatically be
cleared whenever a rescan on the server can be detected.

* Bugfixes

* Trial version limited to 30 days.

Anything you like to improve? Please, leave a suggestion in this forum.
In fact, most of the above features/fixes were suggested/reported by
users.

Best wishes,

Marc.

2013-04-12 Thread Gilles2

Hi Marc,
Thanks again for quick answer as usual.
I will try to kill and re-install the app over the weekend to see if it
solves the progress bar issue. For information, I have only tested with
local music files, no radio, so it should work (my files are WMA
lossless format for the vast majority)
Regarding the track detail, I was thinking of something similar to what
I am getting when I press and hold the central button on my Duet
Controller, which displays most of the existing information available
about the track, including track name, album, albm artist, track artist,
composer, genre(s), file format, bitrate, etc. If I recall properly, the
list is pretty long and can be scrolled down to display most of the
available tags attached to the file.

Thanks again,

Gilles

2013-04-11 Thread Marc Bartsch

Hi Gilles,

Thanks again. Just to give you more detail: The progress bar will only
be shown for music files for which I can determine a length. Radio
programmes, e.g., won't show this progress bar, since they simply stream
without any length indication. Try a reinstall and I will do a bit more
testing whether I can find any oddities on my end.

I am thinking about the track detail view that you mentioned and that
you would expect to come up when tapping the cover. What kind of track
information are you interested in? Something like the web frot end shows
if you click on a title, such as File Format, Bitrate etc. ?

Thanks and best wishes,

Marc.

Hi Gilles,

Thanks for your reply and your testing!

I am almost sure that it will be rather difficult to incorporate a
Composers menu item without any server changes or a plug-in. In my
current test version, I have pretty much an additional Composer menu
entry in My Music which gets cached and behaves just like the Artists
menu. This is based on CustomBrowse and I have written a manual that
explains how to set it up. It is not that difficult, but will give you
exactly what you are after.

As far as the time progress is concerned, that was implemented from day
1. :-) I wonder whether it is due to an older server version. Let me
know which server version you use and I will see what is going on.
Certainly the server I use (7.7.2) seems to work fine.

Holding the cover is an good idea. I will see how I can integrate this.

I am currently testing the next release (1.10) which will hopefully be
out shortly and that will come with caching support for composers. It
might be worth trying this anyway. You can get a test license for
CustomBrowse and with that short manual, you should be up and running
quickly.

Keep the suggestions coming.

Best wishes,

Marc.

Hi Mark,
Would be great if you find a way to add the "Composer" piece native.
I've looked at the custom browse appdin in the past but looked complex
to implement for a small change I needed.

A couple of other observations / asks since I've been testing
Soundicity:

- when playing a song, there is no indication on the "Now Playing"
screen of the progress. A time progress bar, below the picture, would be
great (ideally with time remaining to the end). This is usulally
helpful. Could also be added below the track being played in the
playlist screen
- using Soundicity, I found myself trying to know more about the track
being played by long pressing on the track image... but no luck. This
would also be a great add, which would allow to seen additional info
about the track being played (lots of data is stored in the tags and
never made visible)

Thanks for considering this.

That's good. I will look into caching composer in Soundicity anyway. It
takes quite a while to build up that list in my setup. A cache should
speed that up considerably.

Best wishes,

2013-03-28 Thread Marc Bartsch

Hi,

I had a another look at the composer request and I was wondering whether
you know about the Custom Browse plugin. This plugin let's you define
some custom menus, one of which is a Composer menu. So, when I had a try
today I was actually able to browser just Composer. However, there are a
few things to note:

1. CustomBrowse is a commercial plugin with a multi-tier price
structure:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?90410-Announce-License-Manager-plugins-applets-going-commercial
2. Soundicity does not yet cache any custom menus so that it does take
some time build up the composer menu. This needs to change of course.

Have a look at that plugin. Could that work for you?

Best wishes,

Marc.

Otherwise it's great to see this Windows app out on the market. I really

The 6 buttons actually refer to the preset buttons you find on the
Squeezebox Radio for example, but now that you mention it, this could be
made more obvious and also player specific.

I will think about this one. One of my goals was to keep the UI as
clutter-free as possible, but I will see how a volume indicator can be
integrated.

I will do a bit more research to find out what else is possible there.

Thanks again for testing and let me know any other suggestions that you
might have.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Soundicity - SB Controller App for Windows Phone 7.5/8

2013-03-25 Thread Gilles2

Hi Marc,
I gave a try to your app this weekend as promised. I must admit I am
pleased by the first results. Compared with some other available app for
WP8, I would say that the main 2 benefits are the following:
- very fast to build database and smooth navigation
- all album arts and data is accurate and coherent with the SqueezeBox
interface (seems natural, but not the case with some other app, where
album art doesn't appear in the app while they are present on the Duet
Controller for instance).

A few suggestions from my personal use:
- the 1 2 3 4 5 6 on the top menu seem a bit strange. Are they related
to different players ? In that case, I am sure we can find a better way
as one would need to remember numbers matches to devices. Besides, how
many users have 6 devices ? Then takes a lot of space...
- would love to see a scale bar together with the volume buttons (looks
like there is room for it): easy way to see immediately where volume is
vs. 100%

Regarding the composer question, I am aware of the possibility to miw
composers and artists, but this doesn't meet the requirements: this
makes very long artist lists, while the may browsing input into
Classical music is Composers, so ideally these should be 2 different
entry points (basically Artists make sense for Pop while Composers make
more sense for Classical).

Thanks again... will keep testing for a while and eventually purchase
the app if I feel it keeps improving :-)

I just had a look at the composer request and there is one thing you
could try. If you open the Squeezebox Server webseite
(http://yourSBIP:9000) and go to Settings => My Music. Tick the Composer
check box at the top and then Apply at the bottom. This will include
composer information in Artists. Upside is you get composer names -
downside is you seem to be getting artists mixed with composers.

If you then switch to Soundicity you have to clear the menu cache so
that the artist cache can be rebuilt the next time you open artists. So,
in Soundicity open the application bar menu at the bottom and select
Settings. Then open the Caching menu item and tap on Clear Cache. Tap
the back button twice to get back. The next time you browse to Artists,
they will also contain Composers.

Let me know if that works for you.

Best wishes,

Marc.

Hi,

Thanks for showing an interest in Soundicity. Yes, I would like to
extend it to Win 8 at some point.

The point about the composer is quite interesting, but I have to
investigate whether I can get that information from the server and build
a custom sorted list. Not quite sure right now...

But, thanks anyway and I hope you like Soundicity. Let me know if you
have any other suggestions. A lot of the last few features I implemented
were indeed suggestions by users. :-)

Seems an interesting app and will give it a try on my phone in the
coming days. I am using SqueezeRemote for the time being.
Do you have plans to extend it to Windows8 ? Would love to have it
running on my Surface.

One feature which would make me switch would be the possibility to have
a view of albums by Composer in addition to the traditional "Artist"
view. Listening primarily to Classical Music, Composer is a critical
element and not easily available within traditional SqueezeBox devices
menus.

2013-02-01 Thread Marc Bartsch

Hi,

I am happy to announce version 1.6 of Soundicity - your Squeezebox
controller app for Windows Phone - with several new features. Here is a
video link to show Soundicity's main features:

http://youtu.be/e60IN7hqnCE

What's new:

* Easily switch your player between mysqueezebox.com and your local
server: Hold the current player name at the top of the screen until a
context menu appears from the top. Select any of the two connection
options.

* Pin your apps to Soundicity's home menu and set their menu position in
the settings: Go to your installed apps in Soundicity and hold any of
them until a further menu appears. Select the option to pin the app to
the home menu. By default all apps will be added to the bottom of the
home menu. You can change this position in the settings. Open the menu
from the application bar at the bottom and select settings => menu.
Enter any position number you like.

* Menu shortcuts for albums, artists and favorites.

* Wake-On-LAN support [beta]: Go to the settings to configure your MAC
address and port number and to turn on wake-on-LAN. Whenever Soundicity
starts up, it will try to wake up your machine.

Get in touch and let me know what you think: soundicity...@gmail.com

All the best,

Marc.

Hi hander,

Thanks so much for the time you took to review Soundicity. This is
really appreciated and gives me some valuable input for my next features

Switching players is certainly something I will be looking into as well
as app shortcuts on the home menu.

Let me know if you (or anyone else) has any other features they would
like to see to make Soundicity more the way they like to use it.

All the best,

2013-01-08 Thread hander

Thanks for this. Here's my review I tried to post on the app store but
not sure it's registered it for some reason. Any response?

"I really wish devs didn't restrict the trial app to one player (or one
server as is the case with Squeezebox Control). It really hampers
assessment of these apps. Squeezebox owners aren't cheapskates! They'll
pay if the product works.

Anyway, this is graphically the most attractive of the three 'proper'
Squeezebox apps I've found (Squeezeremote, Squeezebox Control being the
others). I only found this one through the devs note on the SB forums
though). However, it lacks one incredibly important feature to me - the
ability to switch your SB players to different servers (I require
mysb.com connection to use Spotify) but the LMS (running on my ReadyNas)
for locally stored music.

Plus it would be great to be able to add shortcuts to apps to the home
page (eg. by long pressing them). Squeezebox Commander (Android) was so
perfect in both these respects.

Having paid for the other two apps above and found them lacking the same
feature, I'm afraid I can't pay for this one. The search continues..."
