Why are you still on this list while you don't want to use pro tools for update 
reasons?
As a computer teacher for blind people i always give my clients the advise to 
wait with updating until all works finhe.

I myself lost respect with avid, years ago. Part of it beeing this very thing, 
updates. Its beyond ridiculous, and for other reasons. Ive switched to reaper 
as my first daw  and have never looked back. For those who like and use pro 
tools, more power to you, but I just couldn't deal with the, we cant update os 
just because one program possible messing up, and the price gouging, not a 
company I can support.

I was amazed to read that their are such problems with pt 2024.3
I understood that there are visual impaired testers.
So I hope someone will react on this topic.

OK, look. My message very well may have been overheated, that's a fair 
assessment, and I respect your thoughts. that however said, let me clarify 
something.

I didn't mean to imply that the next major OS would be released in 3 months. 
What I meant was, it would be announced then. WWDC is usually when they 
announce new major OS's now with a pattern of once a year every June when the 
conference is held.

I didn't mean that it was necessarily released then in the actual month of 
June. You're correct that normally officially it would be around October.

Anyway, fair enough about your opinion. I happen still to disagree with it on 
some small level, but you're right, I could have been more civil in how I 
presented my message earlier. I'll give you that. I apologize.

strange voiceover behaviour

Hi All,

I'm using the latest pro tools and flo tools and running ventura 13.6.4 on a
mac studio.

When i open a project and if not active switch to the mix window and Select
a track and with star, nummer keys, enter, insert a startpoint the voiceover
cursor jumps into th edit window. I have to tap command plus = two times to
go back to the mix windows.

I found out that when i stop voiceover with command F5 and start voiceover
again all works fine. No jumping when inserting a startpoint.

A friend with the same configuration has the same problem.

Anny one here has this behaviour to or has a better solution?

I've tried all kind of thins also scroll in to view with no results.
I am using pt 2023.6 with Monterey.
Just downgrade my mac studio from Ventura back to monterey.
I had some problems when using komplete kontrol.
I hope to hear from other users what they experience.

problem with pre-hear

Hi All,

First i am a mac user.

For some reasons i have to downgrade my mac studio Monterey and then have to
install every thing.

Starting with Native instrument stuff.

I don't did a install all but choose what i want to install.

I am now half way.

To find out if all worked fine i started komplete kontrol en scanned.

When i start browsing some libraries i can hear the presets but for other i
can't.

E.g. all the abbey road stuff has no pre-hear.

When i take a look in the maps i indeed find no dot.preview maps. For other
libraries e.g. Amadi Vila i find a dot preview map.

Any idea what the problem can be?

I only installed kontakt 7 and ignore kontakt 5 and 6.

Is that the problem?

I had to reinstall my system.

There was a document in the dropbox map with instructions for change the
settings to work with pro tools.

e.g. settings for voiceover, keyboard shurtcutsd pro tools etc.

But i can't find this document.

I hope someone can help.

Yesterday there was another updatd to kontakt now 7.4.2.

The sessiont guitars now run perfect.

The only thing i stille have the quit unexpectedly eroor when closing the
stanalone version of komplete kontrol.

I am considering your problems and information provided. For me, I am running
macOS Ventura 13.4, with Pro Tools 23.6 and Native Instruments 14 ultimate
collectors edition completely updated with no known major problems. I am not
receiving these kinds of errors or issues. My computer system is a Apple M1 Mac
Studio and Apple M1 MacBook Pro. I have not been extensively using Native
Instruments software as of late, but everything seems to be in working order.
If I experience problems and find solutions, I will make sure to announce to
the group.

problems with Ventura and komplete kontrol

Hello All,

I sent this message to the KK list with no result.

So i try here:

Running Ventura 13.4.1 and all update done with Native Access.

All runs under Rosetta.

When closing Komplete kontrol I still get the message that KK quit
unexpectedly.

Also problems with libraries e.g. when i choose a preset in session
guitarist picked nylon KK crashes with the same error message.

I updated to kk 14 ultimate.

Has annyone else this problem or is anny one running ventura without a
problem?

Help would be verey, verey apreciated.

Also using KK in pro tools give the same results.

upgrade to macos Ventura

All the softwae that i use in my homestudio is now compatible with Ventura.

But should I upgrade?

Are ther advantages or still problems when using apps as Pro Tools, NI
stuff?

rosetta and komplete kontrl

Hi All,

 

I post this in both groups: kk and pt.

Now that pt and kk and a lot of virtual instruments are apple silicon ready,
i decided to stop running rosetta.

I'm still running monterey 12.6.5 on a mac studio.

Everything seems to wor.

But when i load an instrumetn from swam audio using kk standalone or using
pt i can choose a preset and i can load it but i can't change the
parameters. The knobs dont't work.

Same with modartt pianoteq.

Both instruments are m1/m2 compatible.

Annyone here that has the same issue?

Or an idea what to do?

playcell problem solved

Hi All,

I don't know if this the solution, but i yesterday had downloaded pro tools
an playcell on mij windows machine.

Now i downloaded on my mac and installed first the playcell things and then
pro tools.

And everythings works fine/1

I also looked in my ilok account, but can’ty find it there.

Search for playcell in spotlight bun can.t find an .aax file.

I installed playcell and playcell palette again with no resutl.

move the track list table in a project. Often I find it seems to be in
different places in the mix window, and I’ve got to go through all the tracks
to find it. Easy enough to do, but I wonder if there is a way to get to it
easier, or be able to place it where ever you want to be.

When i am working on a session with let's say 30 tracks and navigate with vo
plus arrow to track 3 and e.g. typ star 20 to go to measure twenty the
voiceover cursor jumps to track 30. I also has this jumping around in other
cursomstances in pro tools.

Any idea what i can do to resolve this?\

how to clean your session

I'm busy to transfer my sessions to my new mac studio and before I do this

problem with voiceover speaking less

I just installed latest pro tools and flo tools and every thing works.

But there is one thing I don't understand.

Before opdating vo gave me mor inf o.

E.g. when I press control z I  get some feedback and when I type in measures
I also don't hear anything.

How can I solve this?

Even after the newest update of PT to 2022.4, it’s not possible to run both the 
Komplete Kontrol implementation at the same time as FaderPort 16. If they are 
running at the same time, they will both have limited or no functionality at 
all.

Does anyone have a solution to this, and have you experienced the same thing 
with these or other combinations of equipment?

Here everything is working.
You can try to change the doubled tap timeout:
Press command + control + , to open flo tools prefferences. Navigate to double
taptimeout and change de value to e.g. 300, 400 or 500 and navigate to the ok
button.

Ok guys. so flotools told me there is an update this morning. Since i’ve got
that message, I can no longer double tap keys to enable or disable functions.
for example hitting L will read the level metre, but double tapping it will no
longer engage watching level metre, I can’t unselect any tracks, and I also
can’t engage shuffle mode with f 1. I wonder if there is some notification that
is active, it’s telling me no notifications avail. Is there something I need to
do here. Maybe i’ll just have to upgrade flotools. I can do this, but my system
is a couple of o s behind. So a bit out of date I guess.

mode, not sure. Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to acquire them. Two

It’s really a beautiful album.

I just can listen to the preview because that I haven’t subscribed to apple
music.

As you perhaps remember I’m fron Holland and not anative english speaker. So
the words may be not realy what I mean, but I can hear and feel that you have
create it with care and you have payed much attedntion to make it as it is.

Can I find or buy the album somewhere?

Hello All,

We have been connected via Native Instruments to a University student who for
their final year project is seeking assistance from the Blind & Visually
Impaired music community.

Details of the project and requirements are outlined below, so if you feel you
can contribute or wish to pass this on to others who may be interested please
do so.

It sounds like this could be a good opportunity to have some of our views and
requirements heard by industry developers, as well as perhaps shaping some of
the design ideas of a future generation.

"Accessible Interaction: Investigating Software Instruments for the Visually
Impaired"

Overview of the project

An investigation has been proposed into the current state of music software
accessibility for the visually impaired (VI). Through, surveys completed by
music technology companies and interviews with members of the VI community.

Primary research data will be gathered to provide insight into the current
limitations that VI users face with music software, and if accessibility
features implemented are as useful as intended.

This will then be collated with secondary sources in the field of ADMI to
purpose a specification and develop a proto-typed software instrument; tailored
to highlight the needs of the VI community.

Through product testing with members of the VI community; limitations with the
product will be highlighted to outline the accessibility needed within Music
Software.

Involvement from visually impaired participants will be in two forms, in
interviews and as a product tester. The instrument will be synthesis based and
programmed in MAX MSP, then converted to c++ and used within a Juce project. It
will be made available as a VST3 file for testing, and I'm open to working for
both MAC and PC.

Requirements are to be partial or severely visually impaired, and use music
software to any extent.

pro tools and reaper

I want to make some tracks for a frend who is using reaper on windows.

Is it possible to install reaper on e mac beside pro tools?

I my self use pro tools and I don't want to disturb something when
installing and using reaper.

I have the same problem: when starting pro tools sometimes Flo tools dosn’t
work at all.

When i take a look in Keyboard maestro i see that all flo tools macros are
disabled. When i do a reinstalll of flo tools every thing works fine again.

Hi!

I'm having trouble with what maybe is a conflict in settings somewhere between
accessibility & Flo Tools but I can't be entirely sure.

Macros in Flo Tools appear to turn themselves off in some instances or appear
to have no functionality at all. I've emailed Keyboard maestro who have sent me
back to Flo Tools.

Additionally, when Flo Tools is engaged some of the usual keyboard functions
appear to no longer work eg space bar no longer operates as start/stop & I have
to use the transport controls on the control surface.

Any tips on correct settings would be greatly appreciated.

I am running latest Pro Tools on a Mac with Mojave 10.14.6

Hi Tom,

The MIDI Event List includes a pop-up menu to insert events at insertion.
Unfortunately, the line where the new event is composed is not visible to
VoiceOver. It's currently a registered bug with Avid but hasn't been fixed yet.
Fortunately, you can still enter the information but you'll be flying in the
dark for a bunch of keystrokes. Further, however, the MIDI Event List is
currently broken so you won't really be able to delete events, etc. for what
it's worth, after you've chosen to insert a CC event, the insertion time is
automatically listed in the compose row with the first field highlighted. Let's
say it's bars and beats. The bar field is highlighted. Pressing Tab will
highlight the beats field. Pressing Tab again highlights the ticks field. The
next Tab press will put you in the CC number field. Let's say it's expression.
You can type 11 then press Tab to get to the CC value field. Enter the value
and press Enter. That's when the event you created will appear in the readable
portion of the table. If you're doing pedal values, you can either type 0 and
127 or On and Off alternatively.

What I did was first copy the file to the documents folder and edit the text
there.

Then copied it back to the Lounge Agents folder.

That worked for me.

· Now drag the updated file back into Mac HD/Library/LaunchAgents where
it came from, it will ask if you want to replace or keep both, say replace then
you will be prompted for your password.

· Enter you password to complete the copy process,

That's it - now Avid Application Manager will not launch on you Mac unless you
want it to. You'll find it in the Applications folder and if you wish you can
make another shortcut to the dock.

Hi Steven,
Go to the avid website and login to you r avid account with your emailadress 
and password and don't forget to check the chekbox: Link my download centre 
account.
Go to the link: access your account.
Next go to the link: My products and Subscriptions.
Find your product and look for the link: show.
Click on it and it will change to Hide.
Now you see all the files you can download. Also the firtst air instruments and 
first air effedtws bundles.
I hope i don't forget something.

fb360 spatial workstation

Hi All,

 

I just installed pro tools 2020-3 and as i aspected fb360 was there again.

As you probably know this fb360 gives problems with Native instruments (no
speech)

So i opened the application/fb360 spacial workstation map but could not find
the uninstaller.

I deleted the plugins by hand going to:

/library/application support/avid/audio/plug-ins and deleted all the fb360
p[lug-ins.

Now all seems to work again. That means that the speech of Komplete Kontrol
works again.

I hope that this was all i have to do.

Ok Slau,

I’ll change my workflow in 2019.10.

I think the raison why the marcros still worked in 2019.6 was that the macros
for the event list are still there in flotools 2019.5.1.

Sorry for bothering you but i’m a computer programmer and worked with them
since 1972 . I’m retired now but still wanna know why things work or (often)
don’t work.

Again, don't use the MIDI Event List. All the things you're talking about you
can do right in the Mix or Edit window. There are no macros for the MIDI Event
List. There used to be at one time but, because of changes in Pro Tools itself,
the Flo Tools commands have changed.

Hi Tom, everything works in 2019.10 as well. You might not have had the track
view set to Notes rather than Clips. Actually, unless you're editing controller
data or other non-MIDI note events, you don't have to open the MIDI Event List.
You can just arrow to the notes and edit them. Some of that is just baked into
Pro Tools itself. Of course, Flo Tools turbo charges it but everything does
work in 2019.10.

Hi Slau,

I think that it might be a system problem. The problem occurs the most when i
load a project from the recent list within pro tools.

When i load a project using a finder a takes a more time

And mostly every thing works fine. There is no difference with the age of the
project. When loading a project from the recent list it seems to load at once
and allso when i wati to play it there are no instruments or other plugins such
as reverb.

I pro tools using a kind of caching when loading from the recent list?

I thin that the only way to solve this problem is to install every thing from
scratch.

I don't know what's going on with your instrument tracks not playing. Depending
on what type of instruments they are, it sometimes can take a minute to load
the instruments themselves. There are also tons of variables of which I'm not
aware. Are these older sessions? Were the instrument tracks created within the
session itself and the tracks played back correctly the last time? Further,
there could be any number of issues with the session file itself. Of course,
nobody here is in a position to offer technical support to troubleshoot such
issues. Can you create a new session, create an instrument track, record
something and hear it back with your pedal working properly? Eliminating
variables is, of course, the key to figuring out what the root of the problem
might be. Did you remove your FB 360 plug-ins?

audio tracks etc.

What i do then is loading the project using the .ptx file.

Often then I have that pedal issue.

The first thing that occurs to me is that you need to make sure that your pedal
is connected before powering up the NI keyboard. Once that is the case, only
then you should boot-up your system. At least as a starting point, I'd make
sure to follow those steps to eliminate variables.

Tom, also regarding your pedal issue, I found the following article that is 
supposed to correct the issue on the MKII devices. Perhaps it will work for you 
as well. I have not had a chance to try it out for my self yet, but am just

Ok, when i start pro tools and choose a project from the recent table the
project loads innediate and the faders of the fadeport 8 reacts.

But when i start to play the project I only hear ;my audio tracks. No
instruments tracks are playing and also no effects are heard: no reverbs on
audio tracks etc.

What i do then is loading the project using the .ptx file.

Often then I have that pedal issue.

I’Ll post this message also in ptaccess.

Thank you very much for your answer. I wrote to Henrik and he solved the
problem.

All seems to work but I encountered a accessibility issue.

In the older version of autotune efx (v3) i could change all paramters but in
this new version Autotune efx plus (v9) i can’t change the retune parameter. I
had help from a person with working eyes necessary for working with Antares
software center and she had a look at the parameters of the autotune efx plus
plugin. The Humanize paramters was accessable and she saw that on screen the
retune and the humanize paramter look the same. Before i write tis problem to
Henrik i wanna know if someone here on list is using the new autotune efx plus
and have the same problem.

problem with autotune efx+

A few days ago I wanted to use the autotune efx+ plugin. This version of
autotune uses codemeter in stead of the ilok. When i bought it a few months
ago all worked fine but now it don't.

Thank you so much! It worked!

What i did was selecting the whole project, in the event menu went to tempo
operations menu and constant tempo.

typed in my starting tempo. Checked the box preserve after selection (perhaps
nog necessarity).

And it worked.

After that I could make all tempo changes i wanted.

Just one question.

To set the time base to samples: is it possible to do that for all traks at
once?

The ruler events in Pro Tools are not accessible, however, whatever tempo
events you apply will overwrite any existing events. Thus, you can define
whatever tempos you wish, whether it's starting from the beginning of the song
or any part. Keep in mind that, depending on how complex it is, it's sometimes
better to start from scratch if you happen to know what the tempos need to be.
Also, to keep the MIDI data from moving, set your MIDI track's time base to be
samples rather than ticks. That way, everything stays in place while you're
adjusting tempo.

Now i want to delete a number of the tempo changes but can't find how to do
this.

problem dropbox is full

I got a message that my dropbox is full.

I saw that the ptaccess map uses more then 4 gb.

The following maps use more then 1 gb:

When I delete this maps will other people still see them?

Or is there an other solution accept upgrading my dropbox for a lot of
money? .

strange problem with faderport 8

Hi,

 

A week ago i received the fp8. It works fine but i have a strange problem.

I loaded a few sessions without any problem. But there is one session that
gives the following erroor:

Pro tools is unable to communicate with HUI. Power-cycle HUI and check its
connections. I searched the internet and found an answer that you have to
check run midi at the background in Midi studio (audio-midi app).

But this app is not very accessible. Also with help from someone with
working eyes we could not find this.

I tried other thins such as other usb hub and ports but this session still
gave this error.

System: protools 2018-12, flotools 2018-7 and Sierra.

With protools 2019-5 and flotols 2019-5 i have the same problem. Also with
Mojave.

Any ideas what this is and how i can slove this?

About the language: as I allready wrote I encountered more problems when using 
the dutch version of macos. The problem is that when you buy a mac it’s most of

There are several things that I need to point out.

1. The Flo Tools Read Me clearly states early on that only English operating 
systems are currently supported by Flo Tools. We can't do anything about that 
limitation at this time.

 

2. You're listening to an older demo that is not applicable right now. The MIDI 
Event List doesn't need to be opened anymore for Flo Tools to access MIDI 
information for editing.

 

3. You shouldn't necessarily change the keyboard shortcuts in Flo Tools unless 
you have a very good reason. The shortcuts you were reading as "Option Shift" 
were actually displaying "Option Shift ]" which, if your punctuation is not 
reading out every character, would miss the "]" or Right Bracket, Left Bracket, 
etc.

 

4. Your MIDI and/or instrument tracks need to be in Notes view in order to edit 
MIDI from the Mix or Edit windows. It's no longer necessary to use Control as a 
modifier.

It would be very helpful if it works.

So i took a look in the flo tools scripts.

First of all i don’t know much about keyboard maestro scripting so perhaps i 
did things that i can better not do .

In the macro group scroll area i choose flo tools midi events list macro groups.

In the macros scroll area i navigate to Next column Option Shift macro.

What i didn’t understand was this Option Shift. I thougt that i should see 
control arror right.

But perhaps ist due to may missing knoledge

But i edit the macro a changed the trigger from Option Shift in control arrow 
right.

And now it works.

Also the previous column macro shows that Option Shift trigger.

I change this too and now it works as aspected.

Of caurse it is nice for me that it is working now but i want understand how 
this works and why the trigger original is Option Shift. I like to lern from 
the things i do. 

Second part of your’demo where you close the event list and use the tab key an 
control arrow keys to navigate still don’t work for me.

Velvet is installed in the application map. In dutch this map is called 
Programma’s.

So if people on the list that are not native english speakers as i and use a 
non englesh macos perhaps installing the englesh macos may help.

That brings me to the event list problem.

Control arrow left and right stil didn’t work.

And as you showed in your demo of flotools 2 (you can find it in the dropbox) 
It would be very helpful if it works.

So i took a look in the flo tools scripts.

First of all i don’t know much about keyboard maestro scripting so perhaps i 
did things that i can better not do .

In the macro group scroll area i choose flo tools midi events list macro groups.

In the macros scroll area i navigate to Next column Option Shift macro.

What i didn’t understand was this Option Shift. I thougt that i should see 
control arror right.

But perhaps ist due to may missing knoledge

But i edit the macro a changed the trigger from Option Shift in control arrow 
right.

And now it works.

Also the previous column macro shows that Option Shift trigger.

I change this too and now it works as aspected.

Of caurse it is nice for me that it is working now but i want understand how 
this works and why the trigger original is Option Shift. I like to lern from 
the things i do. 

Second part of your’demo where you close the event list and use the tab key an 
control arrow keys to navigate still don’t work for me.

Before pt I worked with hsc and jsonar on windows 7 but deleted all sonar
stuff.

I'v search on the internet and can find hsc and sonar 6 and beyond sets but
jsonar is gone.

I hope somebody can point me in the right direction.

Hi Slau and others,

 

It’s allready a few months ago that  i wrote about my flo tools/midi event list 
problem.

One of the things that can cause the problem was my dutch macos.

I decided to reset my mac and install englesh macos.

To work with flo tools you have to check a few things in the edit toolbar 
options menu such as transport.

With the dutch version voiceover did not say if something is checked or not.

With the english version of macos vo tells me the state of the checkboxes.

Komplete Kontrol: not all parameters are mapped

I also post this message in de KK list but perhaps someone here can help me:

 

When I want to edit a preset of a synth (e.g. Ultrta Analog from AAS or Mini
V from Arturia) I can't tweak all parameters. Also choosing different
presets shows different parameters.

I'm using pro tools and when I load these synth not using KK I can change
all I want. But this is a very time consuming task and you can not make a
patch/preset for a KK user using another daw.

Is it possible to map all parameters of a synt in KK and why isn't this
standard?

Hi tom. I’ve not used it that way. 

I probably do all this the wrong way, but it seems to work for me. I generally 
use destructive editing when I Pitch correct vocals. 

So I copy my vocal track to a new playlist on the track. So i’ve always got the 
original to go back to. Then I go through the audio sweet and select waves 
tune. I then go in to plug in view and adjust anything I want. Then hit render. 

I never select the whole track when doing this, Just the bits I want to re 
pitch. 

 

I’ve found waves tune quite good. But i don’t think i have access to 
everything. I can’t get it to do everything I want it to do. But maybe I just 
haven’t played around with it enough. So I  use a combination of auto tune and 
waves tune. I also use waves sound shifter, as sometimes i need to move notes 
to make them pitch correctly. There is probably a better way of doing this, But 
it’s my work flow at the moment, .

problem effects don't show up in komplete control browser

Am I missing something?

on this list. That would simply get to the factory presets without any ability 
to edit the patches. Through Komplete Kontrol, however, one can access 
parameters through the S series controller keyboard. It's a great library, 
although I think the LA Custom Grand is inferior but the rest of the products 
are fantastic.

I am a very basic keyboard player. I have an audio track, and i’ve inserted an 
instrument track, and i’ve got my keyboard working fine, But i need to 
transpose my keyboard up a tone, so i can play along with the track, is there a 
way of doing this. 

I seem to have found lots of ways of transposing prerecorded things, but how do 
you do it going in to p t.

Hi Poppa and Matt,
I think I found tee solution.
Simply said: Voiceover says that the track is selected but it seems it was not.
I selected another track. Unselect it again and select the original track.
Hitting delete then worked as aspected.

I've worked with cakewalk sonar for years and then you think that migrating

my own sounds in Ultra analog from Applied acoustics.
In the older days on winxp when using directixer this was also possible within 
sonar. But now you can only do this in sonar using synth rack view. And thas is 
very, very lot of work.

Sorry to ask such a basic question Tom, but you are making sure that the track 
you want to edit is selected? Let me ask you this, maybe create a new track 
with audio on it, go to a section of the track, press the down arrow and then 
press Shift, option, Delete at once and then the delete key and see if it 
clears the section from the place you pressed the down arrow to the end of the 
song.

problem deleting selection

Hi,

I'm migrating from Sonar to Pro tools and that results in a lot of dumb
questions.

I.ve already learned a lot from podcasts from Kevin and pt with speech.

But there's still a problem with deleting a selection.

I'm selecting a peace of audio using the up and down arrow keys.

When pressing the spacebar I hear the selection. But when I press the
backspace nothing happens accept when hitting the spacebar I hear the audio
from start point of selection to the end of the track.

What am I missing?

you need an ilok 2.

Then you have to make an acount at the ilok website.

At the avid website you can now download the 30-day trial.

You have to enter you ilok-id to get it.

When you go to the ilok website you will find your license there.

The license manager is not accessible with voiceover.

Hi, What is the process for signing up and getting started with a pro tools
trial as I have some friends who wish to do this but I was not sure how they
would go about it as I bought my pro tools 10 boxed copy which came with an
ilok with the proper license then upgraded to pro tools 11 and was able to
just transfer the bundle 10 and 11 license with Avid support and things are

from sonar 8.5 to pt.

One of the things I learned from the podcast of Kevin Reeves is to quickly
solo, arm tracks from within the tracklist by selecting a track with
vo-spacebar and press ctrl-s etc.

But it doesn't work. I always select or arm the same track.

Is this feature no longer available in pt11 or am I missing something.

In the options menu, make sure that Link track and edit selection is
checked. That will fix it.

Why this isn't on by default, I will never know.
