Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Reciveing Podcasts
using an aggregator under SBS only works if you are using SBS. If you are connecting without a computer or other SBS server then this work around doesn't do it. -- mpower9 mpower9's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88074 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

For me there we a number of appealing factors. The inital lure was the idea of listening to a broadcast that originated from another country. There were also times where the content was interesting. For instance, when the Berlin wall was coming down, it was interesting to listen to both the east and west german shortware outlets (Deutsche Welle and Radio Berlin International). The tactile experience with operating the radio was fun too, especially on more sofisticated radios where you could tune various filters to try to optimize the listenability of the signal. It was also fun to corrospond with the stations and send reception reports to get QSL (verification) cards. There's also an element of unpredictability because listening conditions depend a lot on atmospheric and solar conditions. Back then, there was no Internet, so shortwave was the only way of hearing other perspectives on current events. The alternative was international newspapers. You could get a sense of satisfaction from the fact that you could access information from an outlet that many people didn't. It is great to have easy clear access to radio broadcasts via the internet, but yes, it's a rather uninteresting way as compared to using a SW radio. -- maggior Rich - Setup: 2 SB3s, 4 Booms, 1 Duet, 1 Receiver, 1 Touch, iPeng on iPod Touch. Nowadays it is no big deal to listen to the BBC world service or canadian radio, etc. but pre-internet, it was essentially SW or nothing. -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88037 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Yep, Joe Walsh is a big time ham radio guy. From the wiki: "Walsh holds an Extra Class Amateur Radio License. His station callsign is WB6ACU.[10] In 2006 he donated an autographed guitar to the ARRL in Newington, Connecticut for its charity auction. He has also been involved with the group's "Big Project," which brings amateur radio into schools. Walsh has included Morse Code messages in his albums on two occasions: once on the album Barnstorm ("Register and Vote"), and later on Songs for a Dying Planet ("Register and Vote for Me")." +---+ |Filename: File_Wb6acu.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=11936| +---+ -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88037 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I can also add that the player seems more unstable when using Spotify with the high bitrate enabled. -- nicolasso nicolasso's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=47187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85876 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] radio shuts down when turned up to loud volume
Yes! I've been having the exact same problem. We were all dancing in the kitchen (as mentioned, summertime...) and wanted to boost it all the way up. Suddenly the unit started rebooting until we managed to turn the volume down. I don't see this as something implemented to protect the speaker since the sound is actually really good at max volume (for about ten seconds, that is...). Hope this is something they're working on! -- nicolasso nicolasso's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=47187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87849 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Spotify App crashing Radio?
There are numerous bugs related to the Spotify app. 1. The player reboots: this happens at various occasions. Sometimes when skipping songs, sometimes when turning the volume all the way up (which is really frustrating if you want to party :). I really don't know what triggers this, to be honest. 2. The player mutes. Nothing (Spotify, radio etc.) works. Just silence, even though the radio, for example, has buffered and appears to be running. In able to get the sound to work, the unit has to be rebooted. Also, when in this state, the "exit jingle" gets cut while powering off. 3. The Spotify searches are not region specific, unlike in the desktop/phone versions. Many times an album or track appear several times in a search, where most of them are unplayable due to regional restrictions. So. Frustrating. This is also an issue in some playlists if you by any reason have an unplayable track that comes on; the unit stops playing completely and you have to manually select the next song in queue. I don't know if this is something Logitech is aware of, or if I should post this info elsewhere. But the software in the SBR is so. freakin'. full. of. BUGS. and. ERRORS. Sorry :) Anyone else having these problems, BTW? - Niclas -- nicolasso nicolasso's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=47187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85876 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
