Re: CSDoggie-help please!
Dear Yvonne, German Shepards are notorious for hip dysplasia problems. Years ago we came across an ancillary protocol which worked splendidly for us (in fact it saved our 15 yro Shepard from having to be put down). We instigated the use of alfalfa (in tablet form), at a quantity of 1200 mg per day ---for three days---then reduced the dosage to 800 mg thereafter. Within 4 days he could get up unassisted and almost pain-free. Within 10 days he was completely pain-free and continued to be so for the remainder of his life. He lived on to the age of 18 years.passing on from more natural causes of advanced ageunrelated to his dysplasia. The alfalfa protocol was required as a continuing protocol for the remainder of his life. Whenever it was discontinued for five continuous days, his dysplasia symptoms would start to reappear. We have, since, used this protocol to assist in many cases of articulating joint problems in dogs (my wife and I still have 10all throwaways by considerate humans---7 of which are advanced in age [ 12 or older]..none of which exhibit arthritis. We give them alfalfa (three standard tablets daily for small dogs and eight tablets for large ones), together with glucosamine sulphate capsules/tablets @ 50 mg per 15 lbs body-weight.. If one has many dogsor is economy minded.the use of powdered alfalfa (obtainable from any feed store) at the rate of 1 teaspoon dailymixed into their moisturized-food, has proven to be a most valuable health support. Regarding the lower intestinal tract bacterial affliction..you might consider the following modification: Using a small bulb-type syringe, give the dog an enema solution containing 80% CS (10 to 20 ppm) and 20% DMSO. Lower DMSO concentration to 15% if dog exhibits noticeable stress from tissue irritation. Repeat this protocol three times daily at 4 hour intervals. The odds for bacterial control---using this protocol---are quite high and any side effects quite benign. I wish you the very best good fortune in preserving and extending the healthy and happy life of your beloved pet. Sincerely, Brooks Bradley. Disclaimer. Please remember, we are not veterinarians and DO NOT practice veterinary medicine. These are simply some of the EXPERIMENTAL protocols we have evaluated over the past years. - Original Message - From: Yvonne and Mickey - BIO-SIL bio...@worldonline.co.za To: silver-list@eskimo.com Sent: Friday, June 29, 2001 7:18 AM Subject: CSDoggie-help please! After about a month on the glucosamine she regained full range of motion with no pain. Have you tried olive leaf extract for the doggie with fistula? They'll tell you that mineral deficiencies lead to a weakened immune system and cancer. All of this is nonsense. Colloidal silver supplements are also heavily advertised as powerful antimicrobials and immune system stimulants, capable of curing up to 650 different diseases. Re: CSA question of ticks and lyme
The very small tick may or may not be a deer tick. Adult deer ticks are about an 8th inch. The tick 'nymph' or what we call a 'seed tick' is very small. It's the same tick in a different stage of it's life cycle. Lymes is pretty rare especially if you get that tick off within 3 hours. Usually one gets flu like symptoms and the spreading rash or bullseye, but not always. Also be aware of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever which can kill ya pretty quick. I always check for ticks several times after walking in the woods. There's something that we locals call tic paranoia, lasting hours to days, where every little tickle promotes nudity and inspection. [more fun in mixed company :-)] If a dog gets a tick in its ear, the dog can be paralyzed till it's pulled out. If the tick is allowed to drop off, you'll have Sagans [billions and billions] of ticks around...starting with seed ticks. I don't know if dogs get or carry Lymes disease but it's a good idea to de-tick them every day. As a former forestry worker, I've had ticks on me that were so thick that the blue on my jeans was not visible and they had to be scraped off with a knife before they dug in. WAY FREAKY!!! Fun with ticks... They can run around on the bottom of a jar full of methonol for a long time. Lots of fun to touch with a butane pocket torch. Sometimes they'll imitate a ballistic missile! Ready, aim, FIRE pop! Place ticks on the burner of a kerosene lamp and watch them do laps! Pull off their legs on one side and watch them walk in circles. Guinea hens and chickens love ticks...for supper. Hey, what's that little spot??? Oh a Freckle whew! After we got back we found a tick on the dog. Later that day while shopping a tick fell off me. After we got home Nancy found two ticks on her. The next day I found another one on me. Today, three days later and three showers later, after I got home, I found two more on me. Except for the first one they all had a hold of me and were digging in. The clothes I was wearing were not even with me in Sacramento. The questions are: Where were those ticks for three days? Do all ticks carry lyme? If they do and one gets it what are the symptoms to watch for? My daughter was concerned as there apparently are ticks around her place this year. I told her I would try and get some info. for her as I know some of you have had to deal with lyme. Thank you Joanne I am posting this to both lists Joanne: I'm sure there are others much more knowledgeable than I, and I may be dead wrong as well, but here goes anyway. Those ticks could have transferred themselves to other clothing, or your pets and back to your body during those three days, or been on your body the whole time. There's no way to know. If you can see the tick easily, i.e., its an eighth to a quarter of an inch in size, it is NOT a deer tick which is extremely small and very difficult to see. It's the deer tick which carries Lyme disease and even among deer ticks, only about 3% actually carry the Lyme bacteria. Furthermore, even IF you HAD a Lyme infected deer tick on your body, there is no certainty, by any means, that it will infect you. However, one way to PROMOTE infection from any tick, since all ticks carry infectious bacteria, is to attempt to remove it with a tweezers, or other means that induces it to regurgitate bacterial containing fluids into your bloodstream. I would be VERY cautious about removing a tick. If fact, have an expert do it. As far as your pets are concerned, my vet once told me it's far safer to allow them to fall off rather then attempt to pull them off yourself. If you are infected with Lyme bacteria, a bulls-eye shaped redness MAY appear around the bite. Check with your doctor to get further help. Yep. That includes coronary artery disease. Plaques on the arterial wall are now thought to be places where your body is trying to cover over damage caused by bacteria. Add into this mix the heliobacter that cause ulcers, and you are starting to see a trend develop. Go to www.notmilk.com and read about homogenised milk - milk forced through fine gauze at 40,000 pounds pressure. This causes the hormone IGF-1 [Insulin Like Growth Factor No. 1 which is identical in cows and humans] to splinter into dangerous shards that are so fine they can pass through the walls of blood vessels leaving a hole where blood could leak out. Remember 1 drop of blood contains 5,000,000 -give or take one or two - red blood corpuscles, and it needs only a minute hole to sneak out. A message goes to the brain - we have a leak! The brain promptly sends a message to the live - make some cholesterol and go to such and such and plaster the inside of the wall of the blood vessel... So we drink milk and consume dairy products and wail - I can't get my blood cholesterol down! My doctor says my liver won't stop making it! Why is there so much heart problems around - the blood can't get through! Why is every cancer growing so fast? It's being pushed along by the hormone too. CSVitamin D
IT is becoming increasingly obvious that Vit D deficiency is widespread throughout the western populations (probably due to the large amount of time spent indoors and the avoidance of direct sun-light and prevalence of coating the skin with sunscreen). It has been found that supplementation with Vit D (up to 10,000 IU per day) can be valuable in treating MS and Chrone's disease, and may prevent and reverse other auto-immune diseases (psoriasis, arthritis etc.) Vitamin D supplements should be accompanied by calcium and magnesium. I thought some may be interested in the latest thinking among main stream researchers: Dietary and Nutritional Influences on Skeletal Health A Review of Current Knowledge and Future Perspectives Susan A. New, PhD The role of dietary intake and nutritional status on skeletal health, in the earlier and later years of the life cycle, remains to be fully quantified. As a modifiable lifestyle factor, influencing both peak bone mass development in the younger population and the rate of bone loss in older age groups, it is an area of considerable public health concern.[1] A number of key papers were presented at the 22nd Annual General Meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research held in Toronto, Canada (September 22-26, 2000), on nutrition and bone health. Evidence of Vitamin D Insufficiency Among Population Groups: Consequences for Bone Health Vitamin D is derived from 2 sources, namely endogenous (skin) and exogenous (diet), with the major source being the exposure of skin to the ultraviolet B-rays contained in sunlight.[2] The action of sunlight on the skin converts 7-dehydrocholesterol to previtamin D, which is then metabolized to vitamin D by a temperature-dependent isomerization. The vitamin D is transported, via the general circulation, to the liver, where the enzyme 25-hydroxylase converts it to 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-[OH]D). Further conversion to 1,25 (OH)2D3 occurs in the kidney. 25-OHD is the main circulating vitamin D metabolite and is the best indicator of clinical status, whereas 1,25 OH2D3 is the active form of the vitamin, which is involved in calcium homeostasis.[3] The amount and strength of ultraviolet light is known to vary with both latitude and season; thus, differences have been reported to be lower in the winter and to vary with different geographic areas worldwide. However, the variation, globally, of vitamin D status and the clinical diagnosis of vitamin D deficiency remains unclarified because of the large interlaboratory differences in assays for serum 25-(OH)D. Of considerable interest in the area of vitamin D research were the findings of a global study of vitamin D status and parathyroid function in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis presented by Lips and colleagues,[4] on behalf of the MORE [Multiple Outcomes of Raloxifene Evaluation] Study Group. Data were collected from the international MORE trial, a large prospective clinical intervention trial. Baseline data on serum 25-(OH)D and serum parathyroid hormone (PTH), obtained from 7564 postmenopausal women, were analyzed. These women were from 25 countries spanning 5 continents. Serum 25-(OH)D was found to be lower than 25nmol/L (the lower level of the normal range) in 4.1% of all women in the MORE study (with 8.3% of women coming from Southern Europe). Bone mineral density (BMD) was found to be 4% lower in women with serum 25(OH)D below 25nmol/L. The results also suggested that women with low vitamin D levels ( 25 nmol/L) had 30% higher serum PTH values and higher levels of alkaline phosphatase (a marker of bone formation). Vitamin D status is affected by the aging process, and there is now evidence in the literature to show that vitamin D levels: (1) fall with age,[5] (2) have a seasonal variation (being lowest in the fall/winter),[6] and (3); are inversely related to PTH[7] (which is also known to have a seasonal variation).[8] Menopausal bone loss has been shown to be partially regulated by dietary intake of vitamin D.[9] The elderly population is of considerable concern with respect to the nutritional status of vitamin D, and there is now good data to suggest that this is a group who is at considerable risk of vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency.[10] Despite several key published studies which show convincingly that vitamin D supplementation (with calcium) reduces fracture rates in institutionalized[11] and free-living elderly populations[12] and improves calcium absorption, lowers PTH levels, and reduces wintertime bone loss in postmenopausal women,[13] there is still a considerable lack of awareness of this public health nutrition message. In an interesting paper presented by Grados and colleagues,[14] supplementation with 500 mg of calcium and 400 IU of vitamin D3, twice a day for 12 months in a group of 95 elderly women with vitamin D insufficiency (mean age, 74.2 years +/- 6.4 years) resulted in (1) significant increases in BMD at the femoral neck, femoral

Hi there! I'm not sure if this is a repeat but I never saw it appear on the list so think original message may have gotten lost in cyberspace! If anyone can help I'd be most grateful: 1. My German Sheppies nearly 10 years old - brother has very stiff joints and doesn't move with the ease and grace he used to possess 2. His sister has an apparently common to GSDs problem - which is anal fistulae (bacteria which literally burrow through the intestines and right out the back under tail). Vets we've consulted and whose treatments have not worked, say there is no cure and kindest move is to euthanase. Well, this is not an option to me right now as she seems fairly happy otherwise. The part under her tail looks 'raw' and is quite malodourous. I am of course giving CS internally and spraying directly. Thank you kindly! Re: CSA question of ticks and lyme
Thank you for the tick-lyme info. I will forward it to my daughter. I think they will probably walk someplace else...Ken your story about all the ticks on you was gross...yuck..I can't imagine being covered with that many ticks... Re: CSDoggie-help please!
You might also try MSM in capsule form. (Methol Sulfanol Methane) organic sulfur can be bought at almost any health food store. I think I spelled it right.
