Just a comment regarding that hormone supplementation.
About a year ago my hair was getting so thin I was in danger of being bald.
Typical little old lady syndrome I guess but I didn't like it much.
A friend suggested I start taking some Maca Root along with the
Eclipta Alba I was taking.
My hair started to regrow so that the new hair growth was noticeable
after two months.
My hairline hasn't been this full since I was a teenager and my
eyebrows are becoming noticeble again.
This combination of herbs are wonderful.
A few years ago I was under a tremendous stress and this seems to
be what I need to recover from it.
I guess I should mention I'm still healing from a root canal that
went bad and I didn't have the tooth removed so I've had to earn
how to just deal with it all.
The CS as a sinus rinse was the start of my healing adventure...but I
cannot reccommend those two herbs highly enough for the hormone
balencing effect.
Best wishes
Tara

CS>CS... Cataract Questions

2010-07-04 Thread larry tankersley
 Hey folks,
If you will, anyone that's using bright eyes, clear-eyes or what ever for
Cataracts, I'd sure like to hear of your experience.
Also, some time ago there was a thread on DMSO/CS, etc. that had been used for
cataracts. I can't find what I thought I'd saved. I'd appreciate it if some one
would post such again.
Due to the modalities used for dealing with a retinal, macular detachment I now
have 20/70 vision in that eye primarily due to the rapid increase of the
cataract.
A lens replacement is very risky after having the previous operation.
I must do something as I can't see worth a flip, i.e. depth perception etc.
No doubt this is but a small wrinkle in ones life in the all... and, I sure
would like to smooth this one out a bit.
 TIA for any feedback.

 Hey Folks;
Has anyone had experience using CAN-C or Bright-eyes for cataracts? Or other

Re: CS>Silverpuppy/Nebulizer

2010-01-29 Thread larry tankersley
Hey folks... I've had a silver pup for 10 years or so and use it when needed
with a nebulizer... yes particle size is a primary factor.
Just bought a pocket pup for my daughter. [ she relinquished the prior pup in
a divorce?, guess she knew I'd replace it for her.]
I have several friends that have pups; don't get colds etc. ...Bottom line,
CS has been most efficacious for my well being; no more sinus infections,
athletes foot using the jell and on and on.
The polarity switching on the newer pups is where its at, one no longer has
to deal with oxidation, not a big deal but makes a clean product with no muss
... I'm going to up grade. Don't think you can get a better easer to use
generator regardless of price; based on my experience, and research.

CS>Tinnitus and nerve impingment

2009-08-09 Thread larry tankersley
I read a Doc to say that he found many cases of Tinnitus related to nerve
impingement in the neck.
I think that is the source of my Tinn. When I use my hand to press against my
head from the side and resist the force the ringing becomes more pronounced;
also resisting the pressure with my hands on the back of head pushing forward.
A few times in the past, while in bed, for a brief moment the ringing has
stopped?? It's unbelievable what it's like when that has happen, i.e. the sound
of silence is astounding. I don't have a clue what that's all about.
I'm going to use my ultra sonic vibrator and see if I notice any difference in
lessening the ringing.. We shall see...

Periodontal disease arggg. Been dealing with it for 35 years; had the flap

It depends on how deep the pocket is for how long you'll keep the tooth...
only so much gum can be removed.
I delayed tooth loss for years by injecting hydrogen-peroxide or CS into the
pockets using injection devices such as those sold by Oratec, but, have lost
nine teeth, so far, as I got tired of dealing with it.
Only down side for me is, it takes longer to chew... a small wrinkle among the

2009-07-21 Thread larry tankersley
Hey folks; here's a six month follow up on my use of CS gel for athletes foot.
I cured a bad reoccurring case of athletes food using the gel. maybe six
months ago; It took longer that store bought antifungal, maybe 3 or 4 days of
daily application.
I've been using it daily ever since and for the first time in 20+years have
not had a reoccurrence. What's not to like about that !
I've also found it works well on bug bites and the pain, shame and
embarrassment of hemorroids... well it actually hasn't helped much with the
embarrassment part but sure stops the burn and itch. ;-)

Re: CS>Tooth extraction- my biggest Mistake!

Having had ten teeth extracted over a period of years. I'd venture to say your
dentist is at the least incompetent or sadist. I can't believe it took three
hours !!!
My guess is he/she must not have sawed the tooth and cracked it in half to
allow for easy extraction.
In my experience I have never experienced a more incompetent and unscrupulous
group as the dentist I've come across. I'm sorry you've run into one.
My experience has been the hole will heal and you will recover.

Just because someone is versed in a protocol doesn't' mean they can =
execute it well. I found this about my dentist too late as well. I am =
sorry your extraction went so badly. He could have used a more humane =
way of extraction. Facial trauma is damaging to the nerves. It is =
important to settle them down and take the stress off of your immune =
system as soon as possible. Use the treatment you find most effective =
treatments for nerves. I would do what ever treatment for mouth =
cleanliness you choose Iodine, Hydrogen peroxide, MMS, or salt water. =
Most importantly try to remain quiet until the pain settles down. =
Something this traumatic often will create a TMJ condition which can =
last a long time. This is why you need to relieve nerve response as soon =
as possible. I would not try to chew. I would make juice or smoothies. =

CS>CS and hydrogen peroxide

2008-09-22 Thread larry tankersley
 Hey Folks;
The following is from Dr. J.V. Wrights 'Nutrition and Health' 9/06 news
letter, where he spoke very well regarding CS being efficacious in stopping
super-germs, [which in 1993 70,000 hospital patients died with drug-resistant
infections despite being treated with ABX, and is now over 2 million a year.
Here is a snip "According to the EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF BIOCHEMISTRY, silver
[and the other metals in this family] bring about a key reaction in the body's
defense system: the production of Hydrogen Peroxide."
I'd love to see that study, the methodology and. if it was repeatable.
'Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.'
As I hear so often in dialoging with my learned friends at University of Fl.,
" Show me the studies"
I'd also like to see in vivo research that proves, what I see as conjecture
based on in vetro studies of what CS is compounding with; best I can tell there
is little more than extrapolation based on in-vitro/ test tube/dish findings;
which is far from being the elec-chem machine that we are.
In short, I'll ask the same question I ask years ago of Frank Key and other
science minded... WHERE ARE THE IN-VIVO STUDIES the assertions being made are
base on?
When this question was ask several years ago the thread came to an end are
there are no such SCIENTIFIC studies?
Regardless, here's what I know, and really all I care about... The product
I've been making the past several years [with the silver pup] works for what I
used it for, savings me literally thousands of dollars in medical and dental
expense, pain and suffering, as it has for others I know... And once again...
Thanks Mike, the benevolent dictator extraordinaire !!
PS If anyone has a in file copy of the Dr. Wright 09/06 vol.13 issue 8 news
letter I'm sure it would be of value to many if posted. Thanks

CS> Gel Question

2008-08-11 Thread larry tankersley
I'm wondering how to mix 8oz of 10ppm CS with Aloe Vera gel, as someone
suggested, and not end up with soup instead of a gel... and what would you end
up with in the way of silver compounds?
Seems like a swell idea... been there done that several years ago and didn't
find the mix to be efficacious... following the directions for making CS gel
with the CS gel kit for topical use has worked for me... cheap and, easy to
install.

CS>More on CS Gel ...

2008-07-25 Thread larry tankersley
More good results with CS gel... Perhaps some may remember the commercial " Do
you suffer from the pain and embarrassment of hemorroids" ?
Well the CS gel takes care of the burn and itch in a 'New York Minute', YA YA.
Cold sore.. I use a 9v battery with AG electrodes that send the little buggers
right back home [till the next time]
and if I'll use it the very instant I feel the OH NO sensation of the coming
event there is no event.
Got lax this time, had my head in the sand, or up something, for a couple of
days and Herpe got a foot hold.
I zapped it and put CS gel on, next zap was with gel on first and there after.
Gel is very conductive, burns in short order so you don't want to get heavy
handed and end up with a burn blister, did that a while back, it's something
you'll only do once, I'll probable do it at least twice.
Anyways 2 or 3 zaps a day for two days and 'cold sore be gone'
Hope some find this protocol of benefit... I sure have profited from this list
over the past seven or eight years.. sinus infections gone in a day or so,
periodontal infections kept under control, etc
Y... a man would have to be nothing short of a fool not to make and use CS
from a well designed generator, don't you think. ;-)

CS> deluting CS with tap H2O

2008-07-25 Thread larry tankersley
Hey Folks; it's warming up nicely today here in the G-spot, the arm pit of
Florida!
Question... If one were to cut/delute ,say, 16oz of 10 ppm CS with another 16
oz of DW, would you not end up with 32oz of 5 ppm ? No such thing as a dumb
question but that may come close... at times MY common sense betrays me.
Question #2... if you were to cut with tap water would you end up with a
silver compound of some description? Or even using filtered water, would not
the result be the same, i.e. , a silver compound of sort? And, would what ever
you ended up with not be less efficacious as a CS compound?

and the efficacy of the CS produced.] I've cleaned up sinus infections in 48
hours [nasal douche] that in the past I've been on ABX's and sick as a dog for
a week.
Never had any luck with liquid CS used on my athletes foot challenge, but the
Gel cleared it up, though it did take longer than store bought antifungal,
nonetheless it cleared it up. Also works well for topical use on small scrapes
etc. don't need a bandage to keep wet with CS just a dab of gel every so often

Why waste time trying to persuade anybody? Let them all propagandize

if
the mainstream can be convinced that CS will make them blue then the FDA and

My experience in using CS, DMSO, Alo, etc. has been less than satisfactory.
What has worked for me is a 9-Volt battery with silver probes attached; the

For what ever reason I've not had to deal with one for a year or so, very

Re: CS>Microscopes Not allowed to be used

2008-01-13 Thread larry tankersley

No shortage of dark field microscopes for sale on the internet. Perhaps when
THEY take them away from the MDs they sell them to quacks on ebay ! ; )
Due to my curiosity regarding health related claims, I've had some experience
with alternative docs and 'health care providers' using dark fields, i.e.
salesmen.
In one case I was told I had yeast in my blood and was shown a crenated blood
cell [crenated due to the pressure on the cell from the top side] and told it
was a yeast bud. I had a MD friend send blood samples to two different labs ...
both came back NEG. As he'd said, you're wasting your money, if you have yeast
in your blood you would be at deaths door.
I was well aware of this but wanted lab reports before I considered shoving
his scope up his bum. Needless to say he was sorry for the day he pricked my
finger and soon after packed up his scope, herbs, and booked out.
Another time I was told the crenated blood cell was due to enzyme deficient
blood. And I'll be darn if he didn't have just the supplements for sale I
needed.
On another occasion I watched the OPERATOR rip off a piece of paper towel
over top of an uncovered slide; the piece of towel she tore off was for my
finger prick; she then put my blood sample on that slide and said the fibers
were parasite and I was full of them and should come to the clinic next morning
for test to determine type and a treatment program.
They also like to show coagulating blood cells and make claims as to what they
are seeing and what you need to buy from them to correct the problem.
I also spoke to a retired professor of microbiology who had attended such
demonstrations 'Yeast conventions' and his experience had been the same
regarding yeast buds.
I would love to have a dark field scope and am going to look into the
inexpensive conversion.
Gosh... I could tell folks that the crenated cells are due to a fungal
infection, or some BS, and sell them CS.

"On February 26, 1987, approximately 25 armed FDA=20
agents and U.S. Marshals burst through the glass=20
doors of the Ft. Lauderdale offices of the Life=20
Extension Foundation with guns drawn. A second=20
group of FDA agents simultaneously attacked the=20
LEF warehouse, where they detained LEF founder=20
William Faloon at gunpoint. Employees were lined=20
up against the wall and searched. Agents rifled=20
through the personal belonging of the=20

and confiscated many items. Over the next 12=20
hours, they seized thousands of items, including=20

subscribers. Computers and telephones were=20
reportedly, "=85ripped from the wall," and agents=20
seized anything they could find regardless of=20
whether such items were actually named in the=20

percent of the seized items were never named in=20
the warrant. " And 9 other raids are outlined here.

thought I might do a websearch later, but right=20
now I'm really busy helping my aunt with her=20

It's been my experience that obnoxious, rude, overbearing, opinionated folks
most often have an insecurity complex i.e. an underlying lack of self-worth
that is often sublimated by grandiosity and verbose, not to mention other less
than likeable personality traits. Personality disorder are hard to overcome...
Neurosis is easy in comparison.
I was once told by a dear friend, " you have no Idea how your words hurt
people" and my Xwife once said , " Can you just say it's only what you THINK,
before you make your dictatorial assertions of TRUTH? Gosh, wonder why she is
another X. ; )
... topping those, when I was perhaps 50 years old, my dear sweet Father.
during a 'conversation', became beet red and calmly said, "You are the most
over bearing person I have ever known"... that got my attention, later that
day I apologized; and have since then made a concerted effort to temper my
speech and to understand why I need to be the "right man." Glad I 'got it'..
works better for all... mostly for me.

I dealt with this problem successfully for several years with
two molars. As you know you have deep pockets that you can't clean, hence
infection. If you want to keep the tooth, and I wonder why, get a deep pocket
irrigator and every day irrigate with CS or H2O2. It won't heal the pockets but
no infections. Perio-flex is a small irrigator that is about $25 USD. Google
it. I just thought American dentist were unaware until I read your
experience.. good luck. I finally had mine pulled and wish I had years
ago.

Subject: CS>dental: pericoronitis.leaning towards osteomyelitis

I have the misfortune of having an infection in my lower
jaw, around wisdom tooth site.  When pain and pressure became
a little too much  I asked my dentist what it could be.. his
response was ..nothing wrong,  and  the wisdom tooth still
embedded is fine... just some jaw pain.  With that  I went to
see  my  local doctor  who  said straightaway that it
was  osteo arthritis...  he gave me a sheet with exercises for
my jaw and that was end of that visit.
Thought it was a bit weird  sort of pain to be osteo
arthritis..  after a  week  a tiny hole  appeared in
gum and pus and blood..so went back to dentist..  he then  sort
of panicked, not sure what to do, so I pushed for  an x ray. In
general I won't have x-rays  but pain was getting really bad
and I needed  proof something was really wrong for the last 6
months.  Pericoronitis etc  was diagnosis after  x ray.
Just  doubtful  if the non erupted wisdom was  impacted or
not.
I went to see  oral surgeon. He wasn't  too reassuring, telling
me that surgery would be a risky one because the roots of the wisdom
tooth  are pointing backwards and too close to nerve. It is a real
possibility that I end up with  numb right side of jaw/cheek as
result of surgery. .  Apart from that, he  said that according
to the x ray  the wisdom tooth is not  the culprit.  Not
running for the surgery  as a result...  I guess it doesn't
help that doctor/dentist/oral surgeon aren't  giving me  some
definite and  corroborating information/diagnosis.
In the meantime, I started  to up my dose of CS, have pulsed with
sota pulser,  have used V's  gadget.. but...  nothing
seems to improve the situation.   Would any of you  have
any further  ideas what else I could do  to stop this
infection, blood/pus and pain.
Thanks in advance

is now at Wally Mart in Gainesville FL. My son-law called with a
question about his silver puppy generator... [I'm keeping this short] I
tell him it almost has to be the water -Culligans DW- causing it to shut
off in 15 minutes and the grey cloud you see coming off one silver
wire I bring him some wally mart water, that has alway been fine,
and leave.. he post me .. same thing with your Wally H20 I reply it
may be your silver puppy took a dump... [ I had not yet used any of the
DW I got from Wally last week... they had been out for a month or so.]
I take my puppy over this AM and mine won't stay on for 10 sec's. [
it's a up grade from his puppy ] I stop on the way home and get a
jug of DS from Publix, that has also always been clean, and my gen.
works fine. End of story.. wally mart has switched DW supplier here in
the G-spot.. it is now coming from Silver springs Fl and not distilled
well THE END.
PS my son-in-law has been using this sludge he's making for use in
his chickens water, I belive he said before adding what I'd guess is
silver oxide, he would lose 10 to 15 % before harvest. Last two times 0
loss the thought came to my mind, I wonder if there is a health
benefit to eating chickens that have silver collected in the their
tissue.. damn we could sell these suckers as health food !! ... is
there no limit to my brain??... I'll check with the FDA and get their
blessing, guess a few bucks will have to change hands first so don't
place any orders for the next 20 years or so. [ what was to be short got
long sorry, sorry..... at least it's not off topic ] ; )

CS>The Will to Live..

2005-10-28 Thread larry tankersley
I saw Linus P. on a talk show after his wife had died. In answer to a
question regarding where his head was at, ie. fun factor, at this point
in his life, his reply was along the lines of not being a happy camper
any more... he missed his mate ! Don't know how long after that
interview before he died.
Then again, Scott Nearing [sp] Mr. back to earth, got so sick of old
age he starved himself to death... very low fun factor his wife kept
on keeping on for some time longer before she went off the road, for no
known reason, and was killed. Low fun factor???
Then there was G. Bernard Shaw who in his 90's said "I want to die now,
but can't" that's a real bummer. Though I take exception with his
semantics I get it.
On a side note... years ago an interview in Play-Boy mag. with Kubler
Ross [sp] . [she was an MD who worked with the dieing] made the
statement along the lines 'finding a cure for cancer would be a real
problem in the respect that we would have folks stacked up to the
ceiling that had stroked out etc. Interesting point of view. I often
wonder if NCI etc. have this point of view?? It would bring a little
reason to the rime. Lord knows there is no shortage of folks, and a few
less mouths to feed won't hurt that is, unless it's me or mine, boy
that has hurt.
I find it all so very interesting and hope I check out while it's still
fun.... but talk is cheap, so we shall see.

CS> OT> PARASITES

2004-08-22 Thread larry tankersley
PARASITES
One mans experience with two different " wholelistic " Doc's here in
Gainesville. First experience was with a Chinese Med. Doc. , who later
left town for hear say reasons I won't comment on.
I saw him regarding numbness in one hand and agreed to have him
look at my blood with a dark field microscope.I had some knowledge of
this machine and it's use. He found yeast in my blood and sent me home
with herbs. [ I'm keeping this short ]
I called a MD friend who said "If you had yeast in your blood you
wouldn't be able to have called me ". He checked with a specialist who
said the same.
I then had two different blood cultures done for yeast and they
both came back NEG. I then traced down a microbiologist who had stated
in the book ' The Yeast Connection ' that the testing done " was of no
value," as two other Doc's had said in that book.
I found him in Fl. having retired from Chicago University. He stated
that he had been to two gatherings of those selling DF microscopes and
what they were calling yeast was crenated red blood cells caused by the
pressure of the slides on the cell. Once again I'm keeping this short,
as we talked for several minutes about various relative things.

On a side note, there was [is] a sham going around that claims these
same crenated cells are due to lack of enzymes, and sell some very
expensive supplements to get one healthy... but that's another story.

Next experience I had was with a MD who is still in Gville. and I've
observed for 20 plus years... that in my observation, is all about
making money ever how.
He had a lady from NYC come in for a month and make the rounds at
groups such as cancer support , massage, etc. speaking about wholelistic
etc. cures. I spoke with her after a free lecture and let her know how
much value I found in her presentation and set myself up by asking
uninformed questions.. She invited me to a meeting at the MD's
office, which I attended.
During her talk she mentioned several times how many people she
had found with parasites since being in Fl. ,and also how her knowledge
of healing came from the 3 times she had been abducted by space folks
that had shared their knowledge with her. [ Hey, It could happen !!..
what do I know. ]
When it came time for a couple of people to have a free blood test
with the DF micro. I was right there with " do me do me"   I then
watched her rip a paper towel apart over the slide that later had my
blood on it, dirty side up, hand me the small portion of towel to hold
on my finger prick, then place a second slide on top of of the one with
my blood sample and press it down.
Perhaps you can guess what she found. Yep ... you should have seen
how riddled my blood was with PARASITES.. plus yeast [ and coagulated
blood cells, that she said were due to dehydration.] She said I should
get in to the office in the AM to be tested for what kind of parasites I
had and what it would take to get rid of them. I didn't ask how much
this would cost.
Perhaps I should have called her on this in front of the dozen or
so folks that remained after the meeting in hopes of being tested. But I
did not. At that time I didn't think it proper to interfere with the
placebo effect, which is, only my guess, what might be of benefit to
those that made it through her presentation and wanted their blood
checked.
Now after having known two lades die from cancer that did every fricken
thing from zapp'n to slap'n but refused conventional treatment, and
several others, including my daughter, alive and well years after cancer

CS>Fwd: Colloidal silver interview with Jay Kimball

2004-08-11 Thread larry tankersley
Here's something I was unaware of.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The benefits of Silvicidal ES
An Interview with Jay Kimball of Discovery Experimental Silvacidal ES
is an over the counter (OTC) drug registered with the FDA and it is the
only colloidal silver product (or Mild Silver Protein- MSP) that we know
of that is currently registered OTC with the FDA. The most astounding
attribute regarding Silvicidal ES is the FDA approved labeling of DEDI's
product.  DEDI's Silvicidal ES is labeled an all-natural product to
take orally for general infections with the label listing no known side
effects!
In our review of all FDA registered non prescription (OTC) products in
the united states none has ever acquired FDA accepted labeling depicting
to be taken internally for general internal infections. In fact, we
could not find any product via even a prescription in the united states,
or anywhere else in the world, in which the label on the bottle advised
the user to take orally for general internal infections, notwithstanding
listing no side effects!
The FDA is well known worldwide for being the toughest agency in the
world to get a drug approved through. Silvicidal ES's FDA registration
and FDA accepted labeling as an OTC drug available to be purchased
without prescription must truly be what everyone is claiming; the first
real miracle in drug development in decades!
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Anyone know if this is on the up and up?
The entire interview is below, a couple things said I found scarry !

CS>OT...Kind of, [caveat emptor]

2004-03-11 Thread larry tankersley
Dear list.
Don't want to get in a piss'n match about this but when I read a name
mentioned on the list a while back it rang a bell. Yesterday I
remembered where and posted the chap that I thought had mentioned to me
his experience. He replied the following.. "Actually his name is
Vinny Pinto, of RawPaleoDiet & NegativeHydrogenIon & lately
EffectiveMicroorganisms 'fame'. A charming and knowledgable
bullshit-&-ripoff merchant of the highest calibre. Anyone buying his
"Magic Jug" kit will feel like suing after paying several hundred bucks
for the supposedly rare and expensive and dangerous "magic ingredient" -
namely a few small bits of magnesium metal sawn off an ingot (worth
maybe 20 cents or so at most), together with some "helper substance"
(small bottle of Malic acid, available cheaply from any drug store). And
it doesn't work - ORP's in excess of -600 mv are claimed, but using much
more of the "magic ingredient" than supplied by his meagre kit, and
using ideal conditions, maximum ORP reading was around -20 mv
(instrument properly calibrated), a pathetic result." ...
Just one mans experience, and my experience of this man could be wrong
but I've always found him to be level headed, knowledgeable and a person
of integrity So I pass this along with no motive other than Caveat
Emptor to all the fine folks on OUR silver list.

CS>OT.. Health Care Cost Ploy..OT

2003-11-23 Thread larry tankersley
Dear list... nice to be back on the silver list after a month on the
road.
Thought I'd share my recent experience dealing with double inguinal
hernia's that had been devilling me for a couple of years.
While this approach may not be for some it sure fit the bill for
me not having health insurance other than what is left of VA coverage
since congress gutted it,... but that's another story as well as past
experience having taught me to stay away from the VA.
Bottom line for me is about cost and expertise.
In Gainesville the best price for a similar procedure was 7,000 USD.
In Florida best price was 4,600 USD.
My choice was to have the patch job done in London UK for 3,000
USD at a private clinic that does more hernia operations than anywhere
else in the world, with lowest failure rate, local anesthetic, takes less
than an hour and you're out the door a hour later with a life time
guarantee. Still a lot of money compared to my wage scale, but beats the
alternatives.
The evening, after the operation, I must have walked 5 or more
miles with only mild pain which was gone after a couple of days. I kept
the bandages wet with CS for a few days.
So, with less money I hung out in London for two weeks, [ two
weeks by choice but ,they do request that you stay a week ], and came
home with me gut's staying in, and better than 99.% chance that me
gut stays put...
Perhaps my hernia 'trip' will be of value to some other poor
bastard caught in middle class with no health insurance.
That said and, generally speaking, London is expensive ...perhaps
a average 50% more than in U.S still you can live on the cheap, as I
did.
Best deal I came up with was right at Hyde Park ,a choice
location. Six bunk room was about 20USD per day, with communal kitchen /
TV room, and cereal and toast for breakfast.. Plus a Smoking room with
treats from "Amsterdummy" [Amsterdam] being shared with fellow travelers
from around the sphere !! this Hostle has no affiliation with the
British Hernia Center... my choice.

Guess it's time to go to the OT list with the Q-10 thingy.. but I've
done all the math my little brain can handle...
PP sells Q-MELT brand also.. 28 count of 60mg for $25. The one
posted, which I belive said they were the only place you can get it
sells a month supply of 100mg for $45. IF my math is right that comes to
... .014 per mg at PP and .016 at the place posted.. that's close as I
used 28 count for pricing and you may get 30 in what they call a months
supply. that makes it .015 per mg

CS> OT> Q-10 price

2003-07-19 Thread larry tankersley
.. Well I checked my math on the coop Q-10.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"Not so fast Lary, Coenzyme Q-10  -- Supports cardiovascular health
and energy, 60mg, 60 Veg Caps  $14.93 at the
Heath CO-OP, thats over $3.00 cheaper than Puritan's Pride "
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
On the PP three for one sale one bottle of 120 Q-sorb Q-10 at 120 MG
cost $36.31. Divide that by two [ as it's twice the MG of the coop ] and
you have $ 18.15 . The same amount at the coop would be $29.86. At
least that's the way my math works.. have I missed something? Plus PP's
is the fast absorb, more expensive. I assume Coop's is not as it's not
stated ??
Also.. just got Swanson's new catalog today. The sale price on the
Q-gel is up from $29.99 to $39.99 for 60 gels at 100MG. That will add
aprox.$30.00 to the figure I posted... I think it was about $90.00 so
now it will be $120.00 compared to PP"s aprox. $55.00.. and that's
comparing apples to apples as far as one can tell.
I don't care where I buy from as long as it's good quality and the
cheapest price !
If I've miss figured I'll be glad to be corrected if it will save me a
buck. Hey gang it's only money.. but I still like to save it.

CS>OT> Q-10 prices

2003-07-19 Thread larry tankersley
The price comparison I posted was after doing the math to come up with
equal MG amounts per unit.. could my math be off?.
You bet it could be,but I'm not going threw it again as I was
careful.
I've also bought from Swanson many times as I trust their product and
some times their prices are better than PP.
 Regarding the Q-10... If you compare Swanson's Q-Gel 200 MG with PP's
Q-sorb [ both being the fast absorb so it's apples and apples ] you
should find as I do that what would cost $52.75 at PP would cost $89.97
at Swanson for equal amounts.[ PG 38 in their last sale cat. ] But
...Hey, it's only money guy's...

Dear list... I compared the price of equal amounts of Q-10.
 Puritan's Pride = .16... target = .20 costco [sp] =.11. and the
health co-op, came in at .25
Puritian's Pride's is the Q-sorb. I seldom find better prices than PP
and trust their quality based on the parent company -NBTY inc. being
perhaps the biggest supplement mfg's. around and supplies many of the
name brand marketers you will find in health food stores for big bucks.
Poor quality would not be in their best interest, IMO.
I have no stock or connection with them.. just been using there

CS> OT- FDA quiz

2003-07-16 Thread larry tankersley
Dear list... the following is from ' NUTRITION ACTION HEALTHLETTER '
Which of these claims can appear on a food or supplement label without
approval from the FDA..
 [a] improves memory..[b] relieves stress..[c] suppresses appetite..[d]
helps reduce difficulty in falling asleep.. [e] supports the immune
system.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
ANSWERa,b,c, and e, are called "structure / function claims " and
can be placed on a label with or without evidence to back it up.
But,can't be misleading. FDA has never said how much evidence is needed
to to substantiate a claim and not be considered misleading
[d]... is considered a disease claim, and requires approval. If the
wording had been ' For relief of occasional sleeplessness. ' it would
not require approval.
The article goes into more detail.. far more than I want to type
out, perhaps due to my having a structure / function deficit,or perhaps
I'm diseased !
Nonetheless it's a fine line " It's only a matter of time before
structure / function claims start showing up on cookies, chips, and soft
drink aisles."
Or... on the beer aisle,as ' JUST ONE 12-PACK NEEDED FOR RELIEF OF
OCCASIONAL SLEEPLESSNESS !! This would require no FDA approval.
As the snake oil salesman of yesteryear use to BARK OUT... " If you
don't belive me read the label"

I've been cutting my hair for the past three or four years now, with
relative success, using a Wall's electric clipper. The clipper has

Yesterday before I gave myself a 'little trim' I took the cutter
apart to clean and adjust the blades back to factory specks. Having felt
things were adjusted just right I plugged that bad boy in and proceeded
to see how good it would cut. Guess I did a good job as I cut a two inch
wide by four inch long strip right down the side of my head. at skin

When I saw the GLOB of hair hit the floor, and looked in the mirror,

CS>OT> Fluoride removal

2003-03-13 Thread larry tankersley
Here is the best answer I could come up with on fluoride removal, from a
wet scientest friend.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
 Hi Larry,
To answer the fluoride question, my initial thought was that
distillation would do it but I wondered about filtration. Here's what I
found - http://www.waterindustry.org/flouride.htm
Excerpt:
"There are four main types of filters: activated charcoal, in either
faucet units or under-the-sink units; cellulose fiber sediment filters
in under-the-sink filters; reverse osmosis under-the-sink systems; and
distillation, which uses heat to distill water.
Although each type reduces fluoride to some extent, activated charcoal,
reverse osmosis and distillation reduce the most: 81%, 84% and 99%
respectively."
But -
http://www.fluoridedebate.com/question12.html#12
Exerpt:
"The fluoride molecule is smaller than the water molecule, therefore, it
cannot be removed by filtration -only by distillation. Reverse osmosis,
however, will remove 80 to 90% of the fluoride. ("Intake and Metabolism
of Fluoride," G. Whitford, from Adv. Dental Research, 8 (1):5-14, June
1994.)"
One thing to keep in mind regarding the filtration naysayer's comment is
that an activated charcoal filter is not operating solely by pore size
restriction but also by electrochemical attraction. The age of the
filter will be important in that case.

CS>Fwd: OT> FLUORIDE QUESTION

2003-03-04 Thread larry tankersley
... BUT HEALTH RELATED.
Does anyone KNOW if there is a filter or other means to get this stuff
out of tap water? [see below] if you care to. Thanks

larry tankersley; Gainesville,Florida USA

--- Begin Message ---
NEW YORK TOWN STOPS FLUORIDATION OF WATER, Spurred by College Faculty,
Staff and Students
Village trustees voted, on February 18, 2003, to halt fluoridation in
Canton, New York ( http://www.canton.ny.us/ ). One hundred and thirty
faculty and staff members of Canton's St. Lawrence University and 300
students petitioned the village trustees to ban fluoride from its water
supply.
The decision caps months of public discussion and research about whether
residents' best interests were served with fluoridation, the intentional
addition of cavity-preventing fluoride into water supplies. Trustee
Stephen Putnam, who voted against fluoridation, said he spent much of
December and January reading articles about fluoride and was concerned
that fluoride accumulates in the bones, particularly for menopausal
women who drink fluoridated water over many years, reported the
Watertown Daily Times.
Chemistry professor Paul Connett, PhD, who led the campaign to rid
fluoride from Canton's tap water said, "An independent review of the
literature finds that fluoridation is:
· unethical (medication without patient's informed consent)
· unnecessary (kids get too much fluoride from many sources)
· ineffective (at best, fluoridation saves less than one tooth surface
out of 128 in a child's mouth)
· unsafe (fluoride accumulation can make bones brittle and joints
painful)
· inequitable (the poor cannot afford to avoid it, if desired)
· unscientifically defended (proponents cannot defend the practice in
open debate)
· wasteful, literally pouring taxpayer money down the drain."
Hardy Limeback, PhD, DDS, Head of Preventive Dentistry, University of
Toronto, drove four hours by car, at his own expense, to give testimony.
Once an avid fluoridation promoter, Limeback turned fluoridation
opponent when he discovered the:
a) incidence of children's dental fluorosis (fluoride discolored teeth)
has risen sharply,
b) benefits of fluoridation are topical, not systemic (swallowed
fluoride does not prevent tooth decay),
c) chemical most used in fluoridation schemes is not pharmaceutical
grade, but an industrial waste-product, hexafluorosilicic acid, which
the US Environmental Protection Agency admits has never been safety
tested.

CS> ionic/particle Flashback

2003-03-03 Thread larry tankersley
Dear List,
Perhaps I'm having a flashback. Seems I remember this same dialog
turned into a nasty debate at that time, really hateful. The cause of
which, I felt, was due to mixing fact with conjecture by some.
While I enjoyed the exchange at that time I came to the bottom line
that until double blind, placebo controlled studies are done, using pure
particle and pure ionic in vivo, the conjecture will remain. Is this not
true?
Until then I'd like to hear fact presented as such, and extrapolations
presented as just that... perhaps this will keep a meaningful dialog
going. I learn more this way. AND it's all good .I like it

CS> Sinus infection protocol

2002-10-24 Thread larry tankersley
Dear list.
I can get long winded,..see it's already happening, but I'll do my best
on this.
Had runny nose after cleaning moldy camper and sleeping in it. No mask
!
Sprayed up my nose with CS a couple times that day. Next AM woke with
slight sore throat and plugged up head, and 90.2 fever.
First time I've been sick in 20 years...so I got serious. Spent the
day kicked back, held and then swallowed 1oz of gator-aid and cs four
times during the day / evening and with head hanging down filled my
sinuses with straight CS two times ...boy that smarted.
By the next AM,after a mild NIGHT FROM HELL I was blowing bloody green
mucus. I had a full blown sinus infection !! DAMN...
So I really, really got serious. Six or eight times I did the inverted
nasal douche and held and drank eight OZ of CS with gator-aid. sprayed
throat all day and asperated nose all day. lot's of green mucus.
By next day I was draining clear, slight fever was gone and I never had
anything but slight sore throat which would be gone in 10 mins. after CS
spray.
End of story... In the past I've had sinus infections put me down for a
week of hell while doing ABX. All things considered I couldn't be
happier with this short mild case, just wish I had jumped on it
harder,sooner.
Question for the big kids on the LIst,and I know it's only what you
think, not medical advice could I have done better with H2O2 in the
CS? If so how much per OZ. for drinking and for nasal douching...
AND what about DMSO.. same Question
..drinking/nasal douching, how much per OZ. Seems like DMSO might be a
little rough for nasal use,but perhaps just a little per OZ. I want
both guns loaded if there is a next time. If it weren't for the learning
experience I'd just as soon skipped the past few of days. ; )
PS I'm using the NEW OLD BOB from Silver Puppy, current
controlled, and makes 10 to 20 PPM [depending on which lab report you
want to belive] 8OZ in aprox. 50 mins. using un-seeded DW from wally
mart.
Actually, now that I think about it, I used the CS I had made with the
original OLD BOB during the sinus infection.
With the NOB you can override the auto shut off and produce 3 more PPM
for every 10 more mins. cooking.
I cooked a batch, by accident, for 4 hours, Lord only knows how many
PPM it is and of what ,as the wires were never wiped. But it's just
slightly yellow so I guess it's not to bad.

CS> Blurb on CS

2002-10-17 Thread larry tankersley
The following is from a health site I'm on.. seems to me the reason
this site post is to make a buck.. I have no problem with that as long
as what is being hyped works,or at the very least does no harm. Anyway
here is their take on CS... seems balanced to me.
 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
 The good silver
--
COLLOIDAL SILVER
This is by far the most controversial agent in the armamentarium of
'natural' antibacterial agents. That may be because there is no known
use for the silver ion in human biochemistry, which may in fact be the
reason for its benefits. Dr. Jonathan V. Wright's research has found
that bacteria have an enzyme system that is disrupted by the presence of
silver ions, causing the organism to die. The effect is hardly a secret:
water filters today are impregnated with silver to take advantage of the
antibacterial effects. It was also commonly used as about the only hope
against severe infections prior to the advent of antibiotics in the
1940's.
The word 'colloid' is significant, representing very tiny amounts of the
substance, as very tiny particles, suspended in a liquid. This answers a
common argument about colloidal silver possibly causing a known side
effect of silver overuse called argyria, which can cause a graying
coloration of the skin. Amounts needed for antibacterial effect tend to
be far below doses that cause argyria. Dr. Wright suggests adult doses
of "1 tablespoon of colloidal silver at a 40 ppm (parts per million)
concentration at the first signs of any infection and 1-2 teaspoons
three to four times daily until the infection is gone. Then stop!"
We'll probably never see such low-profit ideas reach the level of
accepted conventional medical therapy. However, it might be worth
everyone's while to get more informed about each of them in case the day
actually arrives that the conventional armamentarium runs dry.
Good Health,

Only thing I could suggest is that he take something to cause his eyes

HEY.. In the current nationalistic fervor it could work.
"The will to power" [Nietzsche], exemplifies the human need to keep
ones mind in a constant state of arousal.. some just have a stronger

Sorry, my tongue fell out of my cheek in the last paragraph. No sense
getting serious about the human condition,...

CS>OT>..Third World Medical Protocol...

2002-09-29 Thread larry tankersley
   OR/AND ..first world medical dictate.
 Dear list.
While living on an island in the Bay Islands of Honduras CA a few years
ago I had a minor medical problem which was solved by being sent off
with several vials of medication and an equal number of syringes, by a
lady MD. The instructions were mostly by sign language due to my poor
command of spanish.
I guess she didn't know that in the U.S. we are assumed to be inept to
give ourself a shot in the bumm.. Or perhaps there is another reason
that I should return to the Doc's office six times had I been in the
U.S. of A.
Seems to me there is incongruity, in that we are so well educated and
yet well I'm sure you get the point.
On a side note.. I've had a great Doc. over the years that would give
me anything I wanted to take with me on my travels. I've always given
these drugs to the folks I've met when leaving them behind to deal with
it... I'm yet to have not cried as I escaped, I've wondered if the
sorrow came from guilt of being able to leave it all behind, while
knowing they didn't have the choice of us being born White in the USA
On one occasion I had a full spectrum antibot. with me- that I think-
save my butt while living in Patan [Kathmandu valley, Nepal]... Lord
only knows what I'd contracted, but it was a week from hell.
Didn't know of CS at the time. Gosh, I wonder why? ..being from a
first world country.
Reid.. what are you up to in Nepal? I enjoyed your post a while back
when you were in India. Try and come up with a way to filter the air
pollution !! The Kathmandu valley which has been referred to as "earths
navel" is becoming the asshole due to the use of oil.
I hung out a while with a Major in the Nepal army who felt " pollution
is a sign of progress for Nepal" ... best I could ever tell he was
sincere!
I have often wondered if CS would be effective with leprosy- which is
to say the least- a problem in Nepal. While leprosy is curable with long
term multi.antibio. the infrastructure and follow thru is poor. I use to
have contact with a W.H.O. DR. in Pokara that ran the Leprosy clinic
there. At the time I was unaware of CS,so we never had that dialog.
Keep doing GOOD Ried.. you are an inspiration... as are many on this
fine list of caring folks...
 Namaste

years. And some times K-Mart is just a little cheaper still [on sale]. I
just checked the Q-10 price ... co-op price, .24 per cap... my price .16

CS> Chickens on CS story

2002-07-22 Thread larry tankersley
 Dear listers...
This came down the pike from my son-in-law. He is yet to lose a chicken
since using CS for the past 9 months.
 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"Just for general info: Last week I had one of my hens show up with
"sour crop", a condition that causes them to become listless, and fairly
quickly lose massive amounts of weight ending in death inside a week to
ten days. Typically comes from drinking contaminated water. I isolated
her for one day, let her drink only CS, and she recovered in twenty four
hours, back to her old self. I cleaned and bleached out the waterer, and
refilled it with a diluted solution of CS, something I had slacked off
doing because I haven't seen any sign of this common disorder. I used to
have to go buy terramycin and treat them for several days, and I still
occasionally lost one anyway. I'm thinking of installing an in-line CS
injector in the water inlet, something similar to a hose-end sprayer for
the yard, except I'll install an adjustable orifice where I can increase
or decrease the amount that gets infused.

Hi, Ms. Popp...

Assertive, declarative statements of ones opinion 'I' find rude and
not conduce to meaningful discourse.
With that said I must add that it's only what I THINK,...not a
statement of fact. AND I don't mean to imply that Catherine is a rude
person.
MY EXPERIENCE of good folks is that at times the best of us can be
seen as rude in the way we language ourselves Be it a Bio rhythm
thingy, or what ever, in the way we show up from one day to the next
[hell, one hour to the next] Seems to be part of the human condition !

worth. some grandiosely,some
guilt,boredom,greed,fear,joy,ambition,love,lust,hate, neurosis,or at the
less than best, personality disorders... DUH
What I do THINK I know is that our reality is created linguisticly
and often has little to do with "WHAT IS". Lord knows I spent years
telling people what's true and what's ridiculous... I try not to do that

CS>OT> THE NOCEBO EFFECT

2002-05-25 Thread larry tankersley
of current was used, more than two-thirds of the
students reported headaches.
Medical Distrust
But resistance to in-depth study of the nocebo effect rests on more than
ethical reservations. Belief does not have a strong place in the
anatomy-centered world of modern medicine.
Science is wearing away at the wall between mind and body. With the aid
of high-tech imaging devices, neurologists are getting better at taking
pictures of the brain in action. In one blinded study last year,
researchers found that patients with Parkinson's disease given a placebo
released a brain chemical called dopamine, just as the brain exposed to
an active drug would do.
That flood of brain chemicals, it appears, has everything to do with
what the mind expects. In most cases, like the Parkinson's study, the
outcome is positive -- the placebo effect in action. But for some
patients -- depressed, wary of medication or worried about drug side
effects -- getting a prescription filled is an angst-ridden experience.
And such patients appear even more likely to exhibit those side effects.
Profile Of The Kind Of Patient Likely To Experience The Nocebo Effect
A patient with a history of vague, difficult-to-diagnose complaints who
is sure that whatever therapy is prescribed will do little to battle the
problem, those low expectations are inevitably met. The treatments
usually fail.
Whether you trust your doctor or not probably makes a huge difference in
whether you report side effects, but there's almost no data on that. Far
more esoteric factors may also shape both the placebo and nocebo
response. A Dutch study, for example, found that most people considered
red and orange pills to be stimulating, with blue and green-colored
pills more likely to have a depressant effect.
But the mind is a funny thing, and generic responses to color go just so
far in explaining the placebo or nocebo response. Consider this: In
Italy, blue placebos made excellent sleeping pills for women but had the
opposite effect on men.
The apparent reason? "The Italian national football team's color is
azzurri." "Blue."

CS> Distilled Water

2002-05-24 Thread larry tankersley
Dear List... I get tired of hearing folks repeating what may be nothing
more than 'urban myths' regarding such things as mineral leaching caused
by DW,or drinking water with a meal inhibits your ability to digest
properly,etc.
Below is DR Weils take on DW,but there are no references to studies ,so
as far as I'm concerned it just another opinion if not referenced to
science. QUESTION.; Does anyone know of a site that deals with such
questions and provides the references to the studies that make it more
than 'EDUCATED OPINION'??
Published 12/19/2001)
First of all, let me review for the record what distilled water is —
it's water that has been turned into steam so its impurities are left
behind. The steam is then condensed to make pure water. The process of
distillation kills and removes virtually all bacteria, viruses, heavy
metals, and other organic and inorganic contaminants. Once distilled,
the water is as pure as water can reasonably be.
For reasons I don't understand, any number of myths — some quite
extreme — have grown up over the years about distilled water. A quick
Internet search today will take you to sites that put forth such views
as "distilled water leads to early death." Nonsense. One claim holds
that distillation removes all of water's beneficial minerals. While it's
true that distillation removes minerals as well as various contaminants
from water, we don't know that the human body can readily absorb
minerals from water. We get our minerals from food, not water. By one
manufacturer's estimate, you would have to drink 676 eight-ounce glasses
of tap water in Boston to reach the RDA for calcium.
Your question as to whether distilled water leaches minerals out of the
body reflects another persistent myth. While pure water helps to remove
minerals from the body that cells have eliminated or not used, it does
not "leach" out minerals that have become part of your body's cell
structure. Neither does distilled water cause your teeth to deteriorate,
a false claim made by a filter manufacturer looking to boost sales. As
far as acidity goes, distilled water is close to a neutral pH and has no
effect on the body's acid/base balance.
I hope I've set your mind at ease. Distilled water not only isn't
dangerous, it's the purest form of water. It's also the kind of water I
drink.
Dr. Andrew Weil

CS> DISTILLED WATER.

2002-05-10 Thread larry tankersley
This may be of interestOnce again the question of DW leaching
Minerals is being presented as fact by a very widely read medical Guru
[see Dr. Mercola's [sp] comments. Sure would like to see the studies
backing up point blank statements of FACT!! One of the folks on this
list made the point that the body system is to sophisticated to allow
this to happen...not much chance of "knowing" without some science or
clinical studies,..even then it's hard to KNOW.. epistemology is
interesting ,I think. Anyway.. if you will. see below.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<
Finally, Physical Proof that Distilled Water is Inferior E-mail to a
friend
Dr. Masaru Emoto, a visionary researcher from Japan received
certification from the Open International University as a Doctor of
Alternative Medicine. Subsequently he was introduced to the concept of
micro cluster water in the US and Magnetic Resonance Analysis
technology. The quest thus began to discover the mystery of water. He
undertook extensive research of water around the planet not so much as a
scientific researcher but more from the perspective of an original
thinker. At length he realized that it was in the frozen crystal form
that water showed us its true nature.
Distilled WaterWater from a pure source
Dr Emoto began by studying the crystallization process of water It all
started in 1994 when he took samples of water from various sources,
froze a few droplets, examined them under a dark field microscope and
photographed them. He photographed the crystal formations produced by
water as it passes from liquid into freezing state. It is like taking a
snapshot of the water at that moment in time. He quickly realized that
the crystals that formed from water depended highly on the natural
health of the water. In other words, water from natural springs, healing
water sources etc, formed beautiful and complex crystalline geometries -
like snowflakes.
Water that had been distilled, polluted or passed through consumption
had lost its inner order. This leads to the realization that natural
healthy water carries an 'inner order' defining its nature and
properties.

DR. MERCOLA'S COMMENT:
E-mail to a friend
In April I attended the SkaSys lecture by Dr. Hans Lechner. This amazing
technology allows one to successfully harness consciousness as a
diagnostic and therapeutic tool.
Dr. Lechner shared detailed of his recent meeting with Dr. Emoto and it
became clear that this technology could clearly demonstrate the danger
of distilled water at a clear and easily seen level. Although it is
controversial I am firmly convinced that distilled water is harmful to
your health.
One of the major foundational reasons is that distilled water is highly
acidic. Most of us are far too acidic already and the last thing we need
to be drinking is a fluid that will make us even more acidic. Distilled
water is alleged to be beneficial due to its lack of contaminants. Well,
many of the devices that distill water are made of metal and will
actually add certain toxic metals like nickel back to the water, which
actually worsens health.
Since distilled water is like a vacuum without any minerals, it will
actually leach beneficial minerals from your body to balance it out.
While this maybe beneficial for a short period during some sort of
detoxification regimen, this is usually highly counter productive in the
long run.
Then there is the physics of the water. Water is structured and when it
is distilled the structure becomes profoundly disturbed as you can see
by the pictures above.
It is possible to restructure the water by putting it in a clear glass
container, adding a few minerals and leaving it out in the sunshine for
a day. This will help to restore the normal beneficial structure that
water should have to promote health.
I believe it was the Asians who popularized the saying that one picture
is worth a thousand words, so please enjoy the pictures which will help
you appreciate the difference between natural spring water and distilled
water.

CS>OT>Malignant Melanoma

2002-04-01 Thread larry tankersley
Dear list...10 years ago I went to University of Fla. dermatologist
dept. to have what I recognized to be a possible melanoma..they wanted
to biopsie part of the 4mm spot...no way pal !! and had them take a 9mm
chunk which was the max out patient they could do. Test came back
positive showing one cancer cell around a hair follicle...[ what if the
part they wanted to take didn't have the cell??? I would have been given
a neg. report.]
End of story [so far] I had a centimeter more removed and tested, which
was clean.
So here is what my subsequent research turned up... Science news
6/21/87... melanomas that have metastasis have been held in check by
[they think] the immune system for more than 15 years. ARGG
I wish I could find the reference to the study that showed a link
between melanomas and chlorine, but that's what it said. as I
remember..
BONG, the light went on... I had bought a hot tub in1992 and use to get
the chlorine so strong it would burn my eyesDUH DUDE.. DUH.
As Jason said, and I can relate to,adversity can be a positive thing..
I've become very health conscious, and as a result came to this
list, which has been one of the more positive consequence.
I also came to wonder about the other possible ill effects of chlorine
with, perhaps, a connection to other cancers.

CS> OT>St. Johns Wort

2002-04-01 Thread larry tankersley
Here's one CS fans..

Schempp C. M et al. (2002). Inhibition of tumour cell growth by
hyperforin, a novel anticancer drug from St John's wort that acts by
induction of apoptosis. Oncogene, 21:1242-1250.
Cancer cells thrive because in addition to engaging their
proliferative machinery they also suppress intrinsic cell death
pathways. Signals that in normal cells result in the triggering of
apoptosis fail to do so in cancer cells, often because of the acquired
mutations in apoptotic pathways. Inducing apoptosis in the treatment of
cancer is therefore a promising therapeutic opportunity. Indeed, many
anticancer drugs that have different modes of action have one thing in
common – they kill cancer cells by triggering apoptosis.
Recently, Schempp et al. demonstrated that St John's wort could join the
ranks of anticancer drugs. St John's wort is a popular over-the-counter
mood enhancer venerated by natural medicine enthusiasts. One of the
active ingredients of St John's wort, the phloroglucin-derivative
hyperforin, is a natural antibiotic that inhibits the growth of several
Gram-positive bacteria. Schempp et al. now demonstrate that hyperforin
also acts as a potent anticancer drug both in vitro and in vivo. The
authors first evaluated the antiproliferative potential of hyperforin in
16 different human and rat cancer cell lines. In all but one case,
hyperforin inhibited the growth of cancer cell lines even though many of
these cell lines were resistant to other cytostatic drugs such as
vincristine, paclitaxel and camptothecin. Analysis of the mode of action
of hyperforin revealed that it killed cancer cells by inducing apoptosis
that could be blocked by the caspase inhibitor zVAD.fmk. In fact, the
treatment of cells with hyperforin resulted in the induction of
caspase-3 and caspase-9 but not caspase-8, suggesting that hyperforin
could have an effect on an intrinsic, mitochondria-mediated cell death
pathway. Indeed, the mitochondria of hyperforin-treated cells underwent
rapid loss of membrane potential. Interestingly, this loss of membrane
potential could not be blocked by the pre-incubation of cells with
zVAD.fmk. Instead, the treatment of cells with hyperforin induced a
rapid release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria (the release of
cytochrome c is essential for the initiation of mitochondria-mediated
apoptosis). These results suggest that hyperforin acts by facilitating
the release of cytochrome c (and perhaps other pro-apoptotic molecules)
from mitochondria which in turn activates the apoptosome-associated
caspase-9 and triggers the caspase cascade. Importantly, the activity of
hyperforin was not limited to cultured cancer cells. When rats injected
with rat mammary carcinoma cells were treated with hyperforin, it
inhibited tumor growth to a similar extent as paclitaxel. Significantly,
there was a complete lack of toxicity associated with the hyperforin
treatment.
The discovery of a new anticancer drug is often accompanied by inflated
claims of its therapeutic potential. Hyperforin, however, appears to
fulfill several prerequisites for a good drug candidate: (1) it seems to
have activity against a wide spectrum of cancer cells, (2) it has little
or no toxicity, and (3) it can be easily obtained in large quantities
from St John's wort which is abundant throughout the world. Although it
may be too soon to celebrate, the antitumour activity of hyperforin, and
St John's wort, is quite promising and warrants further investigations.

CS>OT> Noni

2002-03-29 Thread larry tankersley
Good morning all.
Since my post got cut from the digest list, and I have had several off
list request for the URL, where the 3 for 1 sale is..here it is...
They have both the Tahitian Noni juice @ 3, 32oz bottles for $34.95, (
3 month supply ) and the Hawaiian Noni caps @ 3, 100 cap bottles for
$19.95. ( I take 2 per day for inflammation, don't know about all the
other claims, but it sure works for pain) Below is the post that got cut.
Once again I have no financial interest. ///

Well dear listers, like a lot of the things we talk about on this
wonderful list. it's subjective.
I took the $40 a month MLM Noni from the MLM, that uses the name
MORINDA as their trade mark, for 4 months, and I've used the $6.50 a
month freeze dried caps. for more than five years. I take it for
inflammation,as have several folks I know. Perhaps I'm saving the $35 a
month because of the placebo effect, and that's fine with me. I would
think that 2/3's of the others I know wound not have had the same pain
relief if it was a placebo.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof if you will please
send any peer reviewed, replicated, DB studies that show the MLM Noni to
have out preformed the "brand X". Sure, it might screw up my $6.50
placebo, but I'm open to learn... And I must say ...I do have a bit
of trouble with MLM statements, like "NONE COMPARE" None compare to what
Perhaps their talking about the $40 PRICE. ; )

I might add that I have found no difference between the Tahiti and
Hawaiian;seems Morinda Citrifolia is Morinda Citrifolia regardless of
where it comes from. Sure hope they don't run out of those little

don't expect it to be like aspirin. Take it for 3 months and then
stop,if all the aches and pains come back after a few days. it's
working. Personally it's the best $6.50 a month I spend..
PS.. the spring 3 for 1 sale is now on at Healthsmart..

Abstract
BACKGROUND: Legitimate medicinal use of silver-containing products has
dramatically diminished over the last several decades. Recently,
however, some manufacturers have begun to enthusiastically promote oral
colloidal silver proteins as mineral supplements and for prevention and
treatment of many diseases. Indiscriminate use of silver products can
lead to toxicity such as argyria. OBJECTIVE: To assist health care
professionals in a risk versus benefit assessment of over-the-counter
silver-containing products, we herein examine the following issues:
historical uses, chemistry, pharmacology, clinical toxicology, case
reports of adverse events in the literature, and the recent promotion of
over-the-counter silver products. Other sources of silver exposure
(including environmental and dietary) and EPA exposure standards are
discussed. A list of currently available silver products is provided for
easy reference and screening. CONCLUSIONS: We emphasize the lack of
established effectiveness and potential toxicity of these products.

CS> OT> Chelation study

2002-02-07 Thread larry tankersley
 of sample
size and statistical power using standard deviation of 80 and it was
actually over 170 in both groups. The study was therefore underpowered
and unable to show any significant results, positive or negative. The
authors clearly indicate that in their conclusions.
One third of the patients did not even have angina, and the ST changes
on treadmill used as an endpoint are nonspecific, with many false
positive and false negatives in practice. This was not addressed in the
reported results. Almost twice as many patients in the placebo group
received antianginal drugs (beta and calcium blockers, nitrates, etc.)
and angina was one of the endpoints.
Nowhere do the authors state that they have evidence that EDTA was not
effective. They merely state that they found "no evidence to support"
EDTA, confirming that their study is underpowered and unable to show any
significant results, beneficial or not. In other words it is not a
negative study, it is not a positive study, it is junk science.
There is a final statement at the end of the article, "... larger trials
with a broader range of patients will be needed assess the safety and
impact of EDTA...," again confirming what they said in the opening
abstract, the study was inadequate to show any impact, beneficial or
otherwise.
So why did they publish a study when the authors clearly state that it
is unscientific and statistically so underpowered that it cannot
demonstrate anything of meaning? Especially after measuring a wide
variance of readings (high standard deviation) that was more than twice
their assumption when selecting a sample size. Perhaps the many
lucrative full-page color advertisements for cardiovascular drugs and
statins throughout the journal give us a clue.
This is not a definitive analysis and we have not had time to dissect
the published article in detail, but the fact that the authors nowhere
state that this is a negative study and admit that there were not enough
patients studied to form any conclusion is a good beginning.

CS> Cracked sore hands

2002-01-18 Thread larry tankersley
Been meaning to post this.. My son -in-laws hands were in the
worst shape I've ever seen, from years of wrenching on air craft.
Working in solvents, oils etc. and the elements. There were heavily
callused and always cracked and split open.. very painful. He started
wearing rubber gloves a couple years ago 24 hours a day with the creams
and other stuff the Doc's gave him, with no results.
Three months ago I started making him CS and he would pour it in his
gloves and soak his hands in CS in the evenings after a month or so
the solid mass of callus started to break down and peal off. He said
that there was a rotten smell coming from them ??
His hands are now perhaps 98% clear. I've had my hands in bad shape
before so I know what he means when he said
" Dad ,this has given me a whole new lease on life !"
Was it the CS ?? Due to the fact that for 2 years of wearing the rubber
glove which kept his hands soaked in sweat anyway, andwith no
changeI'd guess it was the CS !

Dear list.. I found the following about CFS. Sounds like CS would be
well worth a try. If anyone has suggestions on how much , how often ,
and for how long,I'd appreciate hearing,as the lady I know who has been
diagnosed with CFS is going down the tube and the family is falling
apart. Thanks

NEW HYPOTHESIS PROPOSED FOR CAUSE OF CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Researchers here have proposed a new theory for the
cause of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) -- one that blames the illness
both on a low-level viral infection and on the body's own immune
response to that virus.
If true, it would offer an explanation for why virologists so far
haven't found evidence of a common virus when looking at a population of
CFS patients. The hypothesis was included in a paper published in the
current issue of the American Journal of Medicine.
The new theory, proposed by Ronald Glaser, professor of medical
microbiology and immunology, and Janice Kiecolt-Glaser, professor of
psychology and psychiatry at Ohio State University, is the latest work
in more than two decades of their research on the effects of stress on
the human immune system.
"Our data suggests that stress may be causing the expression of certain
viral proteins and that these proteins may be modulating the body's
immune response, turning it on or off,"
Glaser said.
CFS was first characterized by researchers in the mid-1980s who
described it as a combination of symptoms including low-grade fevers,
body aches, malaise, and depression among other signs. The condition
seems more prevalent among young adult women. Those diagnosed with CFS
often experience stress and depression.
Symptoms routinely linger for six months or more and may continue for
years. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate
that CFS may affect anywhere from four to 10 of every 100,000 people in
the United States.
Other researchers have reported higher-than-normal titers of antibodies
to various latent viruses -- Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, human
herpes virus 6, for example -- in the blood of patients diagnosed as
having CFS. But no one viral infection was present in all patients --
evidence that would be needed to prove a viral cause of the illness.
The Ohio State researchers' new theory poses several mechanisms that
might be linked to CFS.
Once a person is infected, these viruses can remain latent in the body
for long periods of time. Glaser proposes that the viruses could be
partially reactivated, that is, viral proteins could be produced at
levels high enough to cause a low-grade infection but too low to be seen
using current laboratory assays.
Glaser and Kiecolt-Glaser suggest that CFS patients may experience an
ongoing, low-grade viral infection -- more like a smoldering fire rather
than a three-alarm blaze -- which could stimulate parts of the immune
response without raising antibody titers to typically high levels.
That low-grade infection would be enough to increase production of
various cytokines -- chemical mediators for the immune system -- and
begin the immune response.
"A lot of the symptoms that you find in chronic fatigue syndrome are the
same ones induced by cytokines during our normal immune response,"
Glaser said.
He admits that studies of patients have yet to show a pattern of
abnormal cytokine behavior that would substantiate their theory but he
has an explanation for that.
"We haven't discovered all the cytokines involved in immunity. We may
not have found the right one, yet," he said, adding that new cytokines
are steadily being identified.
Stress and depression may be playing a related role as well,
Kiecolt-Glaser said. Earlier research has repeatedly shown that
increased stress and depression can reactivate latent viruses, decrease
the body's immune response, and stimulate the production of certain
cytokines linked to some CFS-like symptoms.
"Part of this is a chicken-and-egg problem," Kiecolt-Glaser said.
"People diagnosed with CFS often are depressed since they're unable to
carry out normal, daily activities. What we don't know is whether the
depression followed the diagnosis of CFS or if CFS contributed to it.
"We do know, however, that this kind of depression can weaken our immune
response."
Glaser said researchers need to reconsider past work on CFS.
"We need to look for immune system changes that are much more subtle and
specific than those we've been using as benchmarks," he said.

Dear list #2
Seems Dr.Weil is in agreement with the big kids, on this list,
regarding DW now if he would check out CS closer perhaps he'd come
on board with a little less of the FDA concisest. NOT. I think I
under stand how his hands are tied ...he walks a fine line... I
remember hearing Tim Leary at UFla. during his early prison release
college lecture tour, ;-0 ,,,promote government agenda of the time; ie.
the space race spending..drug war spending.and on and on. The good
doctor wanted out of the Can and coped.. no problem for me,I've always
done what I want to.
BUT a while back someone posted ; 'they were on a three month wait
list to see Dr. Weil, and called to confirm the apt . after two
months. They were told he no longer did office calls. I hated to hear
that. [not the 'no more office calls' ,but that his office didn't call
to cancel apts.] guess it can get hard to keep up.

Is Distilled Water Dangerous?
"Is drinking distilled water dangerous? I've read that it's harmful
because distilled water easily becomes acidic and supposedly robs the
body of important minerals. True?"
-- Joe Pietron
  (Published 12/19/2001)
First of all, let me review for the record what distilled water is —
it's water that has been turned into steam so its impurities are left
behind. The steam is then condensed to make pure water. The process of
distillation kills and removes virtually all bacteria, viruses, heavy
metals, and other organic and inorganic contaminants. Once distilled,
the water is as pure as water can reasonably be. For reasons I don't
understand, any number of myths — some quite extreme — have grown up
over the years about distilled water. A quick Internet search today will
take you to sites that put forth such views as "distilled water leads to
early death." Nonsense. One claim holds that distillation removes all of
water's beneficial minerals. While it's true that distillation removes
minerals as well as various contaminants from water, we don't know that
the human body can readily absorb minerals from water. We get our
minerals from food, not water. By one manufacturer's estimate, you would
have to drink 676 eight-ounce glasses of tap water in Boston to reach
the RDA for calcium. Your question as to whether distilled water leaches
minerals out of the body reflects another persistent myth. While pure
water helps to remove minerals from the body that cells have eliminated
or not used, it does not "leach" out minerals that have become part of
your body's cell structure. Neither does distilled water cause your
teeth to deteriorate, a false claim made by a filter manufacturer
looking to boost sales. As far as acidity goes, distilled water is close
to a neutral pH and has no effect on the body's acid/base balance.
I hope I've set your mind at ease. Distilled water not only isn't
dangerous, it's the purest form of water. It's also the kind of water I
drink.

disease.Grisham, meanwhile, investigates the role free radicals play in
sustaining inflammatory disease like rheumatoid arthritis, colitis, and
inflammatory bowel disease. Grisham states that while an infection or
autoimmune problem can trigger these disorders, his notion is that free
radicals keep the problem going over long periods of time. Grisham's
work is an example of just how far the society has come. While its first
decade was devoted mainly to reactive oxygen species, scientists now
understand that large amounts of reactive nitrogen, also produced during
metabolism, and a host of other molecules may be destructive as well. In
one line of research, Grisham's lab is studying the genes activated by
oxygen and nitrogen species in hopes of understanding their role in
modulating immune responses. In another set of studies, he is using
animal models to learn if and how reactive oxygen and nitrogen initiate
or sustain inflammatory disease. "What are the mechanisms for damaging
the joint in arthritis?" he asks. "We think that oxidative and
nitrosative stress and a cocktail of damaging free radicals are
involved."
Frei advocates increased dietary intake of antioxidants.Oxygen Society
president-elect Balz B. Frei, director of the Linus Pauling Institute at
Oregon State University, meanwhile, is studying the antioxidant effects
of vitamin E. At the forefront of a national effort to raise the
recommended daily amounts of certain antioxidant micronutrients above
present levels, Frei has produced an impressive body of literature
documenting the health benefits of increasing our intake of the
antioxidant vitamin E. Other members have done likewise for another
antioxidant, vitamin C.
As for the future of the society and its members, Grisham notes that the
goal is to intervene where nature has left off. "There is only so much
we can do with jungle juice biology," he says. "We have to make better,
more potent antioxidants in the lab." When the job has been done,
predicts Grisham, we may not live any longer than we would have,
otherwise, but we will live out our years in a state of better fitness
and health.
Antiaging research will be highlighted at the 2002 annual meeting. The
society is pushing these plans along. It expects some 700 researchers
from around the world at its November 2002 meeting in San Antonio, where
there will be a focus on antiaging research, among other things.
Moreover, in its colossal battle against the "dark side" of oxygen (not
to mention nitrogen), the society is not alone. Executive director
Lindeman points out that his group has allies. At the international
level, the Oxygen Society represents North and South America within the
International Society for Free Radical Research (SFRR International), he
says. SFRR International currently has four regional members societies:
SFRR Europe, SFRR Asia, SFRR Australasia, and the Oxygen Society itself.
And smaller groups feed in. There is an oxygen club of scientists in
Greater Washington, D.C., and another, smaller but like-minded club in
California, just down the road.
