SM 2.46 eMail Loss

2016-12-24 Thread SamuelS

Hello all,

I updated to 2.46 from 2.40 on my Laptop using Win Business Vista 2, I
Am not able to retrieve/see over 18 months of email for only one account.

I have reverted to SM 2.40 and still not able to find the messages...

Is this lost forever?

Try this:
1. Right-click on the folder, and select "Properties".
2. Click on [Repair Folder].

Hello all,

Dumb me, last night tried to re-install SM 2.40 on my W10 machine as
desired c: drive and I receive the same message as above...

Now this is very confounding. I have tried installing as Admin, etc...

So SM is not installing at all on any drive, so far.

I only transferred my SSD's and HD's to the new system. I expected
some re-installation but nothing like this, so far. My focal point is
getting SM installed and getting emails then the rest to follow.

You give us NO DETAILS ... this is my details:
The SeaMonkey profile is for my windows7 pc at:
C:\Users\RZ\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\
where I can see:
- The "profile.ini" file
- The "Crash Reports" directory
- The "Profiles" directory
-- under the "profiles" directory I can see:
  - The "ey8r9gln.default" directory who contains all the profile.

I then just have a new pc With Windows 10 Pro 64 bits.
I just copy C:\Users\RZ\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\*.*
From my C: Drive of my Windows7 pc
AS C:\Users\RAY\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\*.*
To my C: Drive of my new Windows10 pc

RZ is my pc-username of my Windows7 pc
and RAY is my pc-username of my Windows10 pc

THEN I install SM on my Windows10 pc
And all goes well

SM was and is installed on W7 and on W10 at default locations.

Hello all,

I found it to be more time efficient to create new profiles.

I could not even get MozBackup to work on the new system, S, instead
of fighting it, I just kissed it all good bye and started from scratch...

Thank you all for your input and thoughts on this.

Warmest regards,

Totally not enough nor clear information.

Does drive E: exist?

What do you mean by re-install on drive E:? Reinstall what? The
program? The profile? How?

Deatil what you have done and maybe we can help.

Your issue is, at this point, that you're not telling us enough to
know what the hell you're talking about.

Okay Ed, thank you

My issue is that I Am unable to install SM 2.4 on my W10 machine on
drive e: in my box.

I have dl'd the program, execute the installation, select custom
install, select drive e:, installed, then get the message noted above
about SM not being able to open.

I have previously achieved this, but cannot figure out what incorrect
turn I have made this time.

There is a folder set up on drive e: for SM, maybe I need to delete it
altogether and start again? Or maybe it is possible that I thought the
program was loaded on a different drive when reality that was not true
only the profiles?

Thank you all again and I hope this is clearer...

RETR command did not succeed. Yahoo

2015-03-06 Thread SamuelS

Hello all,

Can anyone shed light on RETR command when trying to dl email messages
to SM from yahoo?

The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail
server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded: inactivity timeout.

I Am running SM 2.32.1 in W 8.1, I have separate folders on my D drive
for each folder. Crazy, but the only way I could figure out that SM
would permit me to use that drive.. I had to re-install w 8.1 and start
from scratch in terms of reloading programs etc...

At any rate, SM freezes when dl mail and will not dl mail beyond message
2756 without returning the above message and a time out too...

I have also increased the time out to 300 seconds. What Am I not doing
correctly for this to work, again? The other Yahoo accounts dl fine.

I have tried g'ling the error message to find a solution and have come
up empty, for the most part and have tried implementing suggestions
found to no avail.

Any suggestions or guides for this?

Dave

What password problem are you describing? I seem to see several
different versions as I read this topic over recent weeks. In one, SM
won't save new logins or passwords at all. In another, when they are
saved in Password Manger SM won't autofill either one where needed. In
another, SM will fill the userid but not the p/w. In another, SM will
fill both if on the same page, but not the p/w if on a second page.

I've been sticking with 2.26.1 until this sorts out (a biggie for me),
but I'm coming to realize that I don't even really know if the problem
affects me. Yes, I know about the problem extension to save passwords.

Thank you for any insights or advice you might give me.

Does SeaMonkey enter the UserID and password automatically?

It was the first time I used SeaMonkey to access my Verizon account and

If you typed it in maybe you made a typo?

One possibility, the most likely one, I'd think.

Another is a bad username. On my verizon.net account, the username is my

Okay, now my challenge is, I have moved the SM profile from disk C to
disk D, my issue is after pointing the new profile in SM Profile
Manager, I receive the following message:

SeaMonkey cannot use the profileDefault user1. It may be in use,
unavailable or damaged. Please choose another profile or create a new one.

What is the issue I have created here in trying to change the profile
location? I have been able to change two (2) others without issues.

Locate the file profles.ini for SeaMonkey. In my configuration (and in
general), it is at
C:\Users\zyx\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\profiles.ini, where
zyx is my Windows account name.

The file should contain a pointer to the folder where your profile is
located. That would be the item Path. I suggest you specify a complete
path, starting with D:\, in which case the item IsRelative should be 0
(zero).

When I did this, I then had to modify prefs.js in a plain-text editor
while SeaMonkey was terminated. For preference variables having values
that were paths to various folders and files, I had to change some of
them to reflect the new location of the profile. For example, my home
page is the export of bookmarks from places.sqlite (automatically done
every time I terminate SeaMonkey). The exported file resides in my
profile, so I had to change that from a C:\ path to the new D:\ path.

Okay, David, just to be clear before I go off and start changing things
in the prefs log file, for example, I can do a a right click on the
file, then click on 'Edit'. from there I can go to 'Edit' then to
'Replace' where the values inserted are C: and D: respectively, this
would make, in essence, the correct changes to the path I need in order
to use the new profile?

That doesn't sound right. What makes you think it's taking up so much
space? How small is your HD?

receive a message SeaMonkey cannot use the profile Default1 It may

This is the 3rd profile and still not able to access...

Make sure SeaMonkey is closed when you copy the files over.

How about assigning a monetary value to requested fixes and let us as

You are right, the profile menu is not sorted, new are just added on.
But, you are working much too hard to order them. Just delete them but
don't delete the files, then recreate them using the same

While you are at it you can move them to somewhere safe, like a data
