Isn't that one way to save the bookmarks other than saving the whole
profile?

The other way is to select "Bookmarks" in the Menu bar, click "Manage
Bookmarks", when the Library dialog opens select Tools > Backup and save
them somewhere.

Then she went to "Browser", clicked On Start Up, found the page with
"Choose File" with the HTML page already listed in the box, and clicked
on "Okay".

Opened Preferences > Browser where there is the "Display on Browser
Startup" setting with "Blank page", "Home page" and other selections
then added the exported HTML file.

Then she clicked on "Home" and got a long page (titled Bookmarks Menu)
full of stuff for Seamonkey (our browser) including the listing for the
Bookmark. Clicking on Manage Bookmarks, she was unable to eliminate all
the stuff other than the entry she wanted (the "real" bookmark). This
was unlike previous experience, in which one could eliminate extraneous
listings.

Maybe she should click on "Home" somewhere else, other than at the top
of a Seamonkey page? Where else can she find Home?

Does the "Clicking the Home button takes you to this group of pages:"
box still contain the <http://www.seamonkey-project.org/start/> link?

If not click "Restore Default" to restore it and you should be back to
the normal SeaMonkey home page.

Is there some reason she can't copy the old profile and use the data in
the new profile?

Assuming that by "home page" you mean an HTML file that was displayed
when you clicked the "Home" button in the bookmarks toolbar just copy
that file to the new computer, open it with SeaMonkey, go to
Edit/Preferences/Browser and click the "Use current page" button. That

There's actually a little more.  I'm not sure how Larry was getting this
before, but as noted here, it appears that the home page has been set to
use a bookmarks.html file. If the old computer died, hopefully, he's got
backups to restore from.

Beyond that, there's two ways of creating a bookmarks.html file. You can
do a one-off create with the Bookmarks Manager (Tools -> Export
bookmarks to HTML), or you can do it automatically. There used to be a
control that you could get through via Edit -> Preferences, and that's
how I know that it exists, but I've forgotten where it is, and on a
quick check, I can't find where that setting is.  However, it's
something that actually controlled through the prefs.js file, and if you
go to about:config, you can set browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML to
True, and that allows an automatic export of your bookmarks every time
you close down Seamonkey.

With that in place, I have multiple browsers and multiple profiles, and
I've found it useful to set each profile to use the exported
bookmarks.html file as a home page, and as a result, no matter what
browser and profile I'm using, I always have a current list of my
bookmarks immediately available. I've also gone one step further, in
that I periodically copy the bookmarks.html file to a shared location on
my LAN, where I can do the same thing with browsers and profiles on
other computers that are connected to the LAN.

Smith

If the bookmarks were backed up as HTML, just dragging and dropping them
onto the browser window should open that file as a page. Then all you
need to do is set the current page as the home page.

No, I never open tabs - but to be 100% sure -->
I go to "Preferences" - "Browser"

then I open each page in a separate window...
then I go to "Preferences" - "Browser" then in the textarea of "Clicking

My SM preferences window says:

"Clicking the Home button takes you to this group of pages:"

Note that it says "pages", not windows.

In SM help for the Home button, it says:

YES, me too.
So, It's impossible that SM open two windows instead of two tabs ?

- When scripts want to open a new window: ("Don't divert custom windows

I think that's correct...
But SM open a new tab for the second url on the "home page" instead of

Works on this computer (linux 2.40) with everything turned off (Flash
WebM H.264). However, I did have to toggle 'media.autoplay.enabled' to
'true' in about:config to get it to actually play properly.

For some reason I'm not able to get SM2.46 to install on WinXP at the
moment, it just seems to try and die - I'll let you know when I do.

Don't know what to tell you... maybe post a screenshot? _All_ of my
SeaMonkey browsers: 2.40 and 2.45 on Windows 10 and linux redirect to
http://my.xfinity.com/?cid=cust
I suspect that could be because Xfinity/Comcast is my internet provider.
The only way that did not get a redirect was via a Tor browser:
https://s10.postimg.io/yrtsp0j8p/xfinitysearch_torbrowser.png

In any event, I was able to reproduce using a _clean test profile_ on
2.40. I cannot reproduce on 2.45 (Windows or linux). Screenshots are at:
 - the files are clearly labeled
as to which version I was using. Note: the primary redirect page was the
same on 2.40 as 2.45, so I did not add the 2.45 screenshot.

My suggestion to Zeb et al would be to file a bug report if one doesn't
already exisit in bugzilla. I'm not sure why it is working for me from
my normal 240 profile (except the web search) - the profile has been
around since the Netscape days, so it's quite likely that I have some
odd config setting that allows it to work. I also use prefbar & have
several custom toggle settings, so maybe something in there is allowing
it to work.

Confirmed. I have the same issue with that page as the OP does --
searches return a basically blank page, not even a "no results"
notice. I have JavaScript enabled in the browser, so that's not it.

Now that it has been reproduced, after clearing caches, making sure
javascript is checked, the problem still exists.

As for using a beta release, that is out of the question. I need stable
releases for my friend. They don't need the additional headache.

That is not what I'm referring to. There are two ways to get to the
Xfinity Search:

The pic you show is from

http://my.xfinity.com/?cid=dotcom_topnav_myxfn

and I haven't been able to get that work at all

What I and others have been using is

http://www.xfinity.com and Search from that URL works fine

Exactly what I see. His description does not match your description at
all. I wonder if he has an older version stored in cache and that is
what is appearing on his screen? Shouldn't "Clearing Cache" take care of

I don't see that at all. To the right of the XFINITY label there is a
blank box without any label that says "search the web". There is nothing
on the right hand side that is a read box labeled "search".

If I enter something in the blank box, it will do a search. But what I
see is nothing like what you describe.

Hello,

NOT reproducible  with official en-US SeaMonkey 2.48a1  (NT 6.1; WOW64;
rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0 Build 20160804000913 (Default
Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit

1. Launch Browser → visit
Do NOT Sign in (or log out if necessary)
2. ˋinto search string input bar in top right area of screen (below
headings "Email - Sign In") Type "sports" → click magnifier
symbol at right end of input barˊ
» As expected first 10 of more than 400 results appear.

My suspect: Javascript is disabled for your Browser - please check!

If that's not the root and your result in step 3 differs from mine, we
will have to dig some deeper.

Unfortunately your problem report is not very useful. Everything would
work some faster if you follow advice:

a) Contribute a problem related step by step instruction containing
every key press and every mouse click how to reproduce your
   problem due to

(similar to report in Bug 1139273
)
b) Upload screenshots with comments if you believe that that
might explain the problem better than a text comment.
Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a OOo or LibreOffice DRAW document and to add comments
that explain what you want to show
c) add information
c1) concerning your Operating System (Version, Distribution, Language)
c2) concerning your SM localization (Version, UI language,
Locale setting)
c3) SM settings that might be related to your problems
May be you should attach a copy of menu
'Help → Trouble shooting information”' as a text document
c4) how you launch SM (Double click on document? console? …)
c5) Whether problem persists in safe mode without add-ons
(menu Help → Restart with add-ons disabled)
c6) Whether problem persists with blank new profile
(Tools → Switch Profile → ...)
c7) everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts
d) An URL for a web page where you observe the problem.

I have no problem using the search bar on XFINITY unless the Javascript
box is unchecked. You might want to make sure that it is checked.
Another test would be to open SM with the profile "Default User" to see
if the search works there. Works for me.

Yes but hidden too deeply.

In your opinion. In mine, it's exactly where it best fits, same as before SM
got it's name, when it was Mozilla Suite, same as before Mozilla Suite
existed, in its predecessor, Netscape 4.

In case you didn't notice, SM by default doesn't even have a home button on
the main navbar. For many people, "home" isn't even relevant, much less
important enough to have a button on the main navbar. Technically, Google is
my "home" page, but since it's my default search engine, and since my search
box is on the top toolbar, I don't need any home "page". The search box
provides what I would otherwise use a home page for.

OTOH, SM actually has two "home" buttons by default, one on the bookmarks
toolbar, and the other the throbber, the latter of which must be configured
via browser.throbber.url in about:config if you don't like its default. Mine
is set to google.com/shopping.

No, I didn't. I never said anything of the kind.

Correct .. I just dis not realize that I forget to remove this sentence:

It's a good idea, I'm just a stickler for being misquoted. Good luck in
promoting it.

Does it not already?

"Edit > Preferences > Browser"

Display on "Browser Startup > Home Page" click the "Use Current Page"
button.

Just a little more granularity where you can also set for New Window and
New Tab.

I think Ray's talking about an option available directly from a browser
window. For example, we already have "Go | Home" and "Bookmarks |
Bookmark This Page" on the menu.

On the Browser pane of the Preferences window, there is a button Use
Current Page, which is enabled whenever the currently displayed Web page
does NOT have the same URI as listed in the "Clicking the Home button

In case it was unclear, the line, "Clicking the Home button takes you to

CSS files: http://m.eimg.net/pub/html/master2.min.css?hash=1008250904
