Hi everyone AskWoody is a reputable web site with good technical advice. Hold off patching until Tuesday if you haven't done it yet, because patches are causing havoc on some machines. Internet Explorer has a vulnerability. There is enhanced phishing protection in Office 365 ATP. RE: Internet Explorer Help
Hi: I had that problem and turned off some things in Internet Explorer under the View Menu. I turned off most all the items under the ToolBar selections Menu. Also, there are the items under the Explorer Bar menu you might want to experiment with turning off. I do have the tools bar locked whatever that does. In any event, I got rid of that particular situation but don't remember exactly what I turned off under the ToolBar menus and the Explorer bar menues. Internet Explorer and Brows Mode Freezing Issue Progress
When using Facebook chat, it's a good idea to delete your conversations every so often. Otherwise, Facebook chat seems to use up a lot of resources for some reason. I guess if you check your e-mail online, you should occasionally do the same for similar reasons. Whether e-mails or conversations via Facebook chat, I do understand that some people, including myself, like to keep record of their messages, conversations, etc. to see their progress over time. But I guess if your system is going to crash, you won't be able to do that forever. it doesn't make any difference how much you upgrade w e. when i upgraded to 9.4 there were 3 factory set files that were out of date. two were firefox and i e. in my case i couldn't turn browse mode on. i would also try clearing the i e cache. sometimes this will cause it to crash. try disableing any add ons. they may be causeing crashes. -Original Message- From: via Talk Sent: Thursday, March 31, 2016 4:33 PM To: Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: Re: Internet Explorer 11 and Brows Mode Computer Freezing Issue I uninstalled WE9.3.1.0 and then installed 9.4. What advantage will an accessible Edge browser be over Internet Explorer?
Hi. The subject says it all. I'm a happy user of IE, but there may be some things that Edge will do that it can't. The only thing Edge will have over IE is it will be more current. The discussion of different browsers reminds me of 20 years ago. Back then, the browser of choice was Netscape. I was happy using that, then IE came along. It took screen readers a while to work with the new browser, but they eventually did. I figure that Edge will be similar. Just some thoughts and a question to ponder. I assume you mean Active X Filtering. I've hardly ever had this turned on. When I did, it did slow down things quite a bit and caused some audio and video files not to play. By default, IE has this turned off. However, IE has CPU rendering on by default, so if yhou reset IE, you should change it to Software Rendering. -Original Message- From: Rick Thomas via Talk Sent: Monday, February 22, 2016 4:16 AM To: 'Window-Eyes Discussion List' Subject: More On Internet Explorer Crashes Hi: I found 2 settings so far that impact lockups and, or, crashes. The software rendering setting I described earlier and now I can further reduce long pauses and lockups by checking or unchecking the block activeX setting under the Tools Menu in Internet Explorer. Crashes are caused when something that IE is trying to load or run crashes or has delays. Some of these are activeX controls. On pages that use these for things like audio / video or advertising blocking the activeX execution will make things run smother and cleaner. On some pages blocking activeX might cause a video not to play, others the videos will still play normally. I am now checking block activeX on sites I want to read or use in any way but if I get a problem with something not playing like a video I Uncheck this setting. There is a tracking setting I have not played with but, from what I have read, is akin to the adBlock software with lists and all that jazz and I may try that out sooner or later unless we get Edge pretty soon. But then there is getting to be allot of settings to try and coordinate whenever you want something on a page to just render properly without any lengthly pauses or crashes me thinks. I can remember to turn on or off activeX for various sites and even cpu versus software rendering I use but adding another setting into the mix is going to get pretty confusing to fix quickly if something doesn't work as advertised on some site. Firefox and Internet Explorer 11 and Windows 8.1 think Cookies Question
Hi: some time ago I downloaded and ran Firefox as my primary browser due to WE and IE 11 crashes but ran into so many problems with flash and WE crashes I switched back to Internet Explorer 11 as my primary browser. Now all the sites I visit don't seem to recognize me - I have to log into them every time I visit them where before I was automatically logged in. I had noticed something about cookies when I switched from IE 11 to FireFox but it seemed normal at the time. I have the privacy settings in IE 11 set to 2, either by default or by FireFox or something since I have never changed it. Does Firefox do anything with cookies and, or, muck with the Windows Cookies folders or location? Anyway, has anyone run across this situation and, or, do you have anything I can look at to try and get my cookies or whatever working again so I don't have to log on to every site over and over? Re: INTERNET EXPLORER AND WINDOWS 10 WITH WE9.2.1
I just called and spoke with A.I. Tech support, and I was told they were quickly working on another update, 9.3, and maybe that might fix some things. Also to check my system for malware and other conflicts. Other than that, use NVDA, which is not as good as Window Eyes, even on a Bad day, and yet, sometimes it works better than 9.1 or 9.2. -- Dave dlh...@centurylink.net ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. I use IE exclusively and can't remember the last time it crashed. I'd recommend going into Tools, Options, Advanced tab, and resetting advanced settings. Then Tools, Manage add-ons, and disable any you don't use. Re: Still experiencing frequent crashes with Internet Explorer 11
yes 9.X is definitely a Problem Child. but I recall version 7 was a bit of a fright as well. Sorry to hear that 9.2 is still having issues. According to some, 9.2 is working fine for them. but, I have seen this before, as not all systems run the same software the same. there were times I would be asked, by my Boss, to test the Companies latest software, and I would find bugs, report them to the Boss. He would then check them on his system using the same build of the software, and there were times, he could find no problems. And yet on my system, I could repeat problems. i recall one time, we had a big big problem, but we could not duplicate the problem on any system in the Company. And yet we had a problem. We finally had a customer that had called in, that lived close to the shop where we worked. i actually talked one of the programmers to go out to the guys house and see what he could find. the programmer drove to the customers house, and sure enough, he was able to figure out why our program had issues. Came back, made a few adjustments in the code. recompile and the big problem went away. All Computers run Windows and the programs made for Windows. Just some run them better than others. -- Dave dlh...@centurylink.net ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. Due to personal finances I have decided to go the office route once it was available as of 9. So I have not had any tech related issues hta I can think of. I am glad tha widnow eyes was the first ot support chrome. Internet Explorer View Source in Windows 10
Hi list: Previously, in Windows 8.1 and earlier, I could hit View Source and a notepad-like page would pop up showing the page source I was viewing. Now, in Windows 10, this brings up another window that WE has a little trouble with. Any way to get the old behavior back, or, am I stuck with this new view? If I am stuck with it, how can I make WE work better with it? Internet Explorer and Amazon
If this has been discussed, my appologies. But, I tried to access Amazon's site including their accessibility site with MSIE11 and WE 9.1. I found it problematic if I hit tab and expectecd to go to a new link, and the cursor keys were almost useless. I don't remember this being the case not too long with Amazon. This leads me to believe that either changes in design usage have made the web harder to use and that we will be having more problems in the future, or that Internet Explorer has become more and more worthless. I would appreciate some input on this from anyone with experience. It might be that I'm just not using WE to it's fullest capabilities. Thanks in advance for the help. ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared.
