EJM Failed in Micro Editor version.

EJM This only started with latest release .5

The biggest problem I have is that the userDic.tlx dictionary is only
accessed if American English is used. If British English is used, any words
added do not go into the userDic.tlx but go into the main sscebr.tlx
dictionary, and these additions sometimes get lost when a new TB version is
installed. I know this because I copied everything from UserDic into sscebr
when using 4.0.18.3 and used this arrangement successfully. The copied words
have disappeared in 4.18.5.

Hello Dwight,

I tried to change dictionaries from CSAPI to SSCE and to hunspell, but
 neither will stick.

Where did you do that? In Spell Checker/Options? If so, that is NOT to
select the engine to use, it is just a dialog to set the options for
the different engines installed.

You don't select engines but languages. The engine(s) used depend(s) on
the language you select. If you select a language that is only available
for one of the engines, that is the one that will be used.

Hello Peter,

To my knowledge, there is no country called Holland.

M http://traveltoholland.org/holland-map/ :)

 Yeah, I know.

Can one get a passport being an inhabitant of Holland ?

Now a bit more seriously :) We know that the country is the Nederlands
but, whether you like it or not, the fact is that in many languages
(including English and Spanish) Holland is used many times to refer to
the whole country.

See for example this:

,---[ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netherlands_%28terminology%29#Holland ]
|
| In languages other than Dutch, including English, Holland is often
| used as a common but technically incorrect synonym for the Netherlands
| as a whole. Strictly speaking, it refers only to the central-western
| part of the country, which consists of two of the country's twelve
| provinces: North Holland and South Holland. This confusion between a
| part and its whole (pars pro toto) also exists with the names of other
| countries, such as Russia for the (former) Soviet Union or England for
| the United Kingdom (see also British Isles terminology).

Yes this was definitely the problem. It is working as expected now.
Although I now have no French option that I had before, so doing this

CSAPI was already broken, at least here. Up to 4.0.0.12 in the language

in this version.

Giving that SCE doesn't have greek dictionary my only option is either to
rollback to previous version or wait hunspell to work correctly.

You may be on the right track. In my case, when TB is started by Windows

Thanks, the TB install program didn't fill the start

suggestions when I right click on a spell error..

Please note that I deleted the older SSCE dll file - as

The new spell checker functionality is not implemented in the
Windows Editor/HTML, so this may be the reason many people cannot use
it. The new MicroEd must be working now, so those who switched to WE
can try to switch back and start using the new functionality.

I use micro ed, and the spellchecker is def. not working. Maybe it
due to the problem, that I'm not able to select a language either.
Please have a look at the attached picture.

I have no spell checker here. teh mistaks i mak don't dray any notice
at all. running micro ed (always have)

Now, let me change that a little. You may recall that I had a problem
because my whole spell checker pull down was grayed out. It is not
grayed out. I had no wavy lines, then I looked, saw that I could
again choose a language. I chose one, and then suddenly every word
was marked mispelled.

I was able to turn off spell checking, then the wavy lines went away.
But if I run f4, it suggests changes for each word until I stop.,

though I think that hunspell.dll expects the zip file.

And not only this, though I get underline in errors I got no suggestion from

Ok this is out of control. They shipped an alpha RAR with 4 files and
NO folders/directories. I think most of us put the 4 files in The
Bat's program folder.

Can SOMEONE tell us what files SHOULD have gone into the Speller
folder?

Marek - I checked the registry but there are several folders under

point into the speller folder under the bat's p[rogram folder

4 files? I have thebat.exe, hunspell.dll (Huspell engine) and ssce5532.dll
(SSCE engine). What fourth file do You have?

BTW dictionaries for SSCE engine are installed with every Professional
edition installer, as I think, developers expects, You have them installed
or You can download them separately from website for Home edition.

these are language IDs, there should be links to SSCE dictionaries in

Hello Jernej,

when I close and re-open the Options dialog.

It is not that it reverts to CSAPI because you are not really selecting
any engine _to_use_it_, that is done with the Language(s). The Options
menu entry is just to select/change options for one or more engines but,
as I said, not to select the engine used for spell checking.

Such things happen regularly.
This happened to Dutch and it was decided by the Nederlandse
Taaalunie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Language_Union The new
spellings are valid for The Netherlands, Flanders and Suriname.

Such things aren't as rare as you think, ever wondered why TB's
intpack included an old and a new German spelling?

Nevertheless a new spelling is reason enough for a new dictionary
file in TB. (And therefore this is on topic.)

Apparently, Roelof already has answered your question.
Being from Flanders, this applies to us. Last time it changed before 2005
was 1995. Personally, I prefer the pre-1995 spelling.

I found the list on: http://www.opentaal.org/ (in Dutch) or

Only in Dutch, download pages:

No, I don't think it would be dome automagically. To tell you the
truth I don't even remember the procedure to follow so TB can access
 them.

When running Office 2000 and below, TB! discovers the CSAPI dictionaries
automatically. So, Mary, what you see below the line is Office's CSAPI

straightened that out.

If I were going to write another book, I believe I'd still use Word,
