Rogues pics

2004-10-01 Thread Thorvald Neumann
Hejsan!

Hmmmh, I do not see any rogue-pics in my mail header pane.

I have the pics (/rogues) and the rogues.msl in my TB-folder. The
X-Rogue is also defined in TB. Sender photo is enabled.

Any ideas?

"Follow up" is Ritlabs way of renaming the RFC References header field to make
it more confusing. There seems to be no good reason for this. :-)

You can see this renaming by selecting Preferences->Message Headers and scroll
down the list to see "Follow up" under Display As next to "References" under RFC
Name. Notice also the bizarre renaming of the perfectly good RFC Name "Sender"
to "X-Sender".

"It ain't so". I just mean the message header area that lies between a
message list and the body text. The RFC headers are known as "Kludges"
in TB terminology to make the distinction clear.

The header pane is the area in which pictures would show.

Thought I might point at at this juncture that all of these

flooding you with information on how to do this, yes we have been able
to see *you* for a long while now.

People! Can we stop flooding the list with answers about an aspect
Lynn already clearly has right (can't you all see her image? doesn't
that give you the clue that the advice you're giving is redundant?)
and concentrate on the *other* end of the deal?

For you to see other peoples' images you have to:

1) Download the rogues.zip file.
2) Unzip it to the TB program files folder as follows:
   a) The images live in images/rogues
   b) The rogues.msl file lives in images
3) Enable header view (View .. Message header .. Show)
4) Enable "Sender photo" in the header pane pop-up menu
5) Either: Presss Ctrl-Alt-Shift-T or restart TB to reload the
   smilies.

And that's it. Anybody else have any gotchas about this side of
getting rogues visible?

Can you and find where this picture is located on your hard drive?
Find it by opening the file rogues.msl in a plain-text editor and look
which file :Hawthorne: is associated with.

A wild (and probably unreasonable) guess is that the other pictures

I last downloaded yesterday, and I see Lynn. Complete with hat. There

Alexander Kunz has put up a mirror, manually edited with his and
Lynn's images and .msl files, at:

http://www.neurowerx.de/images.zip

Unfortunately, there were two more announced in a Rogemoticon e-mail
notification just minutes ago. :(

And the enlarging Smiley zip file behavior continues, with every
upload at the Roguemoticon page.

By the time I got to the Smiley Admin page, the pcwsmileys.zip was
standing at 3 MB.

Refreshed it. Temporarily it is at 527 Kb.
Stay tuned.

Lynn, open a message by clicking on it, as if you were going to read
it in the full pane. Mine, for example.

In the drop-down menus, click on View.

In View, select Message Headers.

Look down your long list of choices. Be sure X-Rogues is checked.

Your screen shot with Jürgen Haug's message in focus in the Preview
Pane does not show the line (in my set-up it appears right below the
"Follow up:" line) for "X-Rogue:". If you check "X-Rogues" in "View
Folder/View/Message Headers" a line will appear and if it is my
message that is in focus it will say:

X-Rogue: :mary:

And on the far right will be my picture.

Those handles will not be in rogues.msl.

In The Bat!\Images you should have a folder pcwimages and a file
pcwsmileys.msl.

If you have downloaded the latest from

http://www.PCWize.com/thebat/PCWSmileys.php

And unzipped the pcwsmileys.zip into The Bat!/Images, that folder and
that file will be in The Bat!/Images as well as the folder rogues and
the file rogues.msl.

If this is not working for you, please ask again. It may be that in
Options/Preferences/Viewer-Editor you have not checked the box for
"Use Smiley Options." Or perhaps you have not chosen Rich Text View.

In Plain Text View or in HTML without Rich Text View, Smileys will not
be visible.

Thanks for your interest in :batbeer: . There's a :batcoffee: also,

Its a reference (actually, the header that contains this "follow up"
information is called "references" and not follow-up) to previous messages
in the conversation - like saying "this message (that you are writing) is a
follow-up to these other messages (as given in the references header)".

The entries in this field are so called "Message IDs". Those are unique
identifiers for each message created on the client-side, ie. by TheBat!

TheBat! can use this conversation to view a conversation in threads (press
ALT-1 to see it if you do not already do so *g*).

No, you should be able to see your face in the headers using Plain

Rich Text View is necessary in order to see the Smileys images.

All that is correct for the "References" header but does anybody
know what the "Follow-up" header is? The closest I can find
anything about is the Usenet header "Followup-to" which specifies
to which newsgroup replies should be posted.

Finally figured it out. You have to put the rogues.msl and rogues
directory in the "Images" director in the Bat! folder. Here's my set
up now...

C:\Program Files\The Bat!\Images\Rogues with the rogues.msl in the
Images Directory...

Hope this helps...

Thanks Mica,

Finally figured it out right before you sent your message. But I am

Hello,

AT the root of tb\images, I have a lot_ of .gif files : they look like emoticons. And
there is a pdsf.msl, and default.msl, and rogues.msl and order.txt (what are .msl
files ?)

Then, I've a folder named "Default" ( tb\images\default), with a lot of .gif files.
The same that in tb\images

Then, I've a folder named "Rogues" ( tb\images\rogues) with a lot .gif and .jpg, look
like names and photos.

Hello Lynn,

On Sat, 2 Oct 2004 you wrote in

Maybe this message that I have parked will help :

Okay, how do you insert the X-Rogue: header?
You can do that with this macro:
  %SetHeader("X-Rogue",":your_handle:")%-
in your templates for this and other tb-lists.
However, only the macro won't do the trick.
TB'll say: 'Hey, that's no RFC822 header', so you'll have to define
  it as such:
Options -> Preferences -> Messages -> Message headers -> 'Add'
Now you'll get a pop-up to define the header
Display as: X-Rogue (or whatever, it isn't very important)
RFC header: X-Rogue
Uncheck: 'This field is an address list' (because it isn't)
Check: 'Allow this field to be edited in the message editor'
Uncheck: 'Display this field in the scrollable part of the header pane'
Now you're done and every TB-user can see your lovable face when
  (s)he's installed the roguemoticons.

And now I end this message with the plead to everyone to add their
face to the roguemoticon gallery and add an X-Rogue: header.

This is a copy of a message sent to tbudl.

to view them, right-click the header area in a message, and look at
  the sender photo option

Hi Marck,

I have the rogue setup to notify me when ever the rogue.zip is
modified and got 2 notifications this morning. But when I tried to
download the rogue.zip file, I get a "Black Widow" pic and the page
says "Go Away". I tried going to the Rogue Home page and download the
file that way but got the same Black Widow.

Is the person that takes care of this modifying the file and it is not
available? or am I having a bad day :)

Has anyone been able to download the rogue.zip lately say this morning
after 14:00 GMT?

Thanks for the help all...

This is getting really weird. I had everyone's Rogue's pic working
fine, even Paul's. After everyone started talking about the Smiley's I
downloaded those and installed them.

The Smiley's weren't working for me so I wrote Mary off list, just to
make sure to not bother the list with this question. Mary replied and
I had the Rich Text Viewer turned off and after turning that on, I can
now see the Smiley's.

But now my problem is I can see just about everyone's Rogue Pic,
except Paul's. What does Paul have different that I can not see his
Pic.

And Thanks Alex, I got your's and Lynn's pic and the rogue.msl file
and see both of your pics. (Now we are going to have to get Sean Rima
and David Dickerson's Pic as I just got a notice that they had been
added.)

OK .. I went to see if the site was up, and it looks like
