[TMIC] Swine flu vaccine

2009-09-01 Thread Regina Rummel
Good morning everybody,
There was a lot of discussion in our group regarding vaccines a couple of years
ago.  It had been suggested that among other things, TM could be caused by the
flu, a virus, whatever.  Some of us were convinced of that and refused to take
the vaccine.  I haven't had one in four years.  Others felt having checked with
their doctors that we should have it and continued to get it.
Question:  What's going to happen now with the flu vaccine?
Will some of us still be ambivalent?

Personally I take a flu shot every year and a pneumonia shot every 3
years. I have been doing this every year I have had TM which in 3 weeks
will be 12 years. I think it is a personal decision for each of us to
make. I can tell you that both my regular Internist as well as Dr. Kerr
have never had a problem with me getting the vaccinations. Lastly I
cannot recall coming down with the flu ever since taking the vacine and
I have never (other than a sore arm) had any side effects whatsoever.

Janice, don't feel horrible. Your question was valid. I had to (The Devil
made me do it) put a little spin on the answer. I'm sorry if I embarrassed you.

Bowel Movement discussions are important as I believe we all have problems, and
questions, from time to time. There are books (Long books) written on the
subject. the major problems encountered relate to fecal dehydration, motility
and peristalsis. Dehydration turns turds into rocks- not good. motility is
enhanced by using bulking agents and mineral oil. And peristalsis is activated
by rectal suppositories or prunes, or other OTC products like that chocolate
stuff we used to mix in the chocolate icing to give that special person a
special treat.

So we need to drink at least a quart of water a day. Eat lots of Bulk (Veges
and meds like lactulose), and prunes or the equivalent .

I hope that helps, and it is true that hypnosis does help (Close your eyes and
imagine the long train emerging from the dark tunnel)

Oh no, no, no Janicethere was absolutely nothing
wrong with your question. We DO talk about everything
on this list and any concern is a valid one.
I got silly with Frank because I've known him for about
12 yearsand know his sense of humor.

I read what he wrote about the prunes and wish they
would work that way for me. I can eat half a bag of
dried prunes and they won't work for me.but
if I warm 6 oz. of prune juice in the microwave it works
in about 3 or so hours.
I haven't tried stewed prunes...maybe that's the difference.

As for digital removal ...when I was first paralyzed the last
thing I thought about was the fact that I wasn't having a bowel
movement. I was dealing with hospitals, chiropractors, doctors,
and so onand wondering why I was paralyzed in the first place.
Finally it dawned on me..9 days later.I spent 2-1/2 hours in
the bathroom taking care of the problem myself so I wouldn't have
to have a doctor do it for me.
Trust meI know how you feel.

not expensive.

  *Hi Lynne, *

*Stewed prunes sometimes work for me also. Whenever I am hospitalised, I
usually have them twice a day. Since I'm now mobile and out and about
though, I don't use them quite as often as I tend to have accidents. If I
can be sure that I will not have to go out, and that no one will be stopping
over, then I use them. It doesn't eliminate the need for digi-stim totally,
but makes the process much easier. *

Re: [TMIC] Swine flu vaccine

2009-09-01 Thread CANDIS KALLEY

Lynn, you are so right on the Vit. D.   I also take doses of Vit. D and
calcium.  I take unusually high doses of Vit. D daily and weekly because I only
have 1/2 of the min. Vit. D in my blood test.  But, since taking the high doses
of Vit. D, my Lupus and Sjogren's hasn't acted up and the added bonus has
been only 1 or 2 colds in the 3 years.  I use to have at least 1 cold every 2
or 3 months - which Dr. said was allergies but now I wonder.  I never once had
the doctors request blood test for vit. levels.

It is VERY important to also have bone scans done - both women and men.  In 3
years with TM, I went from a low normal bone mass reading to a severe bone loss
reading especially of the spine.  Now I'm taking daily shots of Forteo to
hopefully build the bones back up.  During the whole time I was taking Boniva
but still experienced the bone mass loss.

Most of my problems stem from an ileostomy (complete removal of large intestine
and rectum) and I don't absorb alot of the vit. and minerals from foods nor
vitamins so I have to take high doses internally.  Most vitamins are made to
take internally and not by injection, I do  wish there were more.

I do have bladder issues but because of the ileostomy, no BM problems.  I also
don't have weight problems and eat just about anything in any quantities that I
like.  I can also lose 3 to 5 lbs. within a couple of days.  However, I have to
watch for diarrhea and becoming dehydrated.  So in some ways the ileostomy is a
blessing but in the vast majority it isn't.  Oh well, you win some and lose
some!

I feel the need to have a bowel movement each time I stand up.

 Verry Interesting !!

I usually get that feeling when I sit down.

Are you regular?  What meds are you using for your intestines and bowels
 now?

How old are you?  Do you enjoy italian food?

Excuse Me, I know better, but get asking questions and have trouble
 stopping

 whether I'm sitting or standing.

Maybe you should see your local medical doctor, and have a rectal exam and
 stool

 examination for blood.

Stewed prunes or souffle are the way to go. Dry prunes are ok but not as
effective.

My memory is going... I can't seem to remember to bring the recipe into the
computer.

The reason people get the flu in the winter is not
because of the cold weatherit's because they don't

The Government paid for a study of why the flu and other viruses are more
prevalent in the winter. There was only a slight correlation with people

Frank, you did not embarass me. It is just that you would think a 62-year
old woman would put 2 + 2 together quicker, but
every time I saw the word, I just couldn't figure out what it was. I blame
things like that on my meds. Also, thanks for the
explanation below - it does help.Problem is, my body doesn't operate
that way, so don't understand all the jibe.

Janice, don't feel horrible. Your question was valid. I had to (The
Devil made me do it) put a little spin on the answer. I'm sorry if I
embarrassed you.

Bowel Movement discussions are important as I believe we all have
problems, and questions, from time to time. There are books (Long books)
written on the subject. the major problems encountered relate to fecal
dehydration, motility and peristalsis. Dehydration turns turds into rocks-
not good. motility is enhanced by using bulking agents and mineral oil.
And peristalsis is activated by rectal suppositories or prunes, or other
OTC products like that chocolate stuff we used to mix in the chocolate
icing to give that special person a special treat.

So we need to drink at least a quart of water a day. Eat lots of Bulk
(Veges and meds like lactulose), and prunes or the equivalent .

I hope that helps, and it is true that hypnosis does help (Close your eyes
and imagine the long train emerging from the dark tunnel)

  Good morning everybody,
There was a lot of discussion in our group regarding vaccines a couple of
years ago. It had been suggested that among other things, TM could be caused
by the flu, a virus, whatever. Some of us were convinced of that and refused
to take the vaccine. I haven't had one in four years. Others felt having
checked with their doctors that we should have it and continued to get it.
Question: What's going to happen now with the flu vaccine?
Will some of us still be ambivalent?

...But TM and MS are not because of an immunodeficiency..the problem is that
the immune system is TOO strong and attacking itself.

I rarely get sick and even after 5 months of full-time cathing, I've yet to get
a UTI-though I use the clean method, not sterile.
