SOY, FISH OIL MAY HELP PREVENT HEART ATTACK Taking daily supplements of fish or soy oil may improve cardiac function and protect against heart attacks in the short-term. The study results, published in the journal Chest, point to soy oil increasing heart rate variability, a measure of cardiac autonomic function. "Our findings contradict the current belief in the medical community that increasing the intake of omega-3 fatty acids produces only long-term cardiac benefits," says lead study author, Dr. Fernando Holguin of the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. "In fact, our study group showed improvements in heart function in as little as two weeks."

Hi Everyone,
I also have not commented on
the fish oil discussion until now, but thought that I'd throw in that a
great book to look at is called Prescription forNutritional Healing by
James Balch.
Under the section for MS calls
for Flaxseed oil containing GLA (Gamma-Linolenic Acid)
I take Barlean's Lignan Omega
Twin which contains Omega 3's Omega 6's Omega 9's and Gamma-Linolenic
Acid. I just mix up a tablespoon in a shot of chocolate milk, or some
yogurt and I'm done for the day. No more pills etc. It does
really seem to help since I can tell if I miss a day or two.
Hope this helps!

brand is "GNC" and has omega-3 fatty acids, EPA (?) and DHA (?). They are
1000mg. and say to take one or two with each meal. There are 90 soft gel
capsules and cost $6.99.

Anyone with a comment?

 Fish oil questions
 1. Did someone tell us that fish oil made him dizzy so he had to take it
at night? (Or was that flax seed oil?)
 2. Do you take more than 1000mg at one time or space these out during the
day?
 3. Is fish oil supposed to be good for the brain function? That would
make it good brain food! I thin that was why I started on the 1000mg in the
first place.
 4. If I couldn't before, will I finally be able to swim? It would help
during boating!
 5. How do you squeeze oil out of the fish?

Alton, I'm a
terrible researcher as far as scientific facts are
concerned.

I had to throw
away my scales because I was becoming obsessed with the weight gain and it was
causing even more depression. You know how the cycle goes I'm
sure.

I just know by
the way my clothes fit, that I can no longer guard my belt in the same way you
do, my movement is now much more free. This is something I notice a lot
because I am so very vertically challenged.

The greatest
proof I believe is that my friends say "you've lost heaps of
weight"

I just know it's
working. Can't hurt to try I reckon.

My most exciting
news though is that the pair of Kookaburras who have been dining at the Clark
Takeaway for some time now, have just bought in their two babies to meet
us. I'm a very proud grandma, just don't know if I have grandsons or
granddaughters.

Hi Gilly,
I wish thatI had known about the fish oil whenever I
started trying to lose my prednisone weight. Instead, I've ended up
becoming a walking produce market---I eat so many vegetables and fresh fruit
now. All of the fruits and veggies have made me feel so much better
thuogh, that it's worth it. I think I'll stick with it.

Hugs,
Grace

Hello fish oil here I come!
Thanks Gilly for that piece of information. I've been taking 1 tablet daily
and will start taking more.
Patti - age 56, weight is my secret.

I have been using Fish Oil Tablets now for about 3 months, I started to help
with lowering my cholesterol but then I heard on a TV programme where some
researchers here in Adelaide, had been doing human trials using it as a
 weight loss tool.

They suggest 6 x 1000mg tablets per day.

Well, I have done my own tm fat girl trial and I am so happy to tell you IT
 WORKS

I have not changed my diet, exercise, not anything.

The other great benefit that I have noticed is that my skin is now so soft.
I have always had very dry skin and of course it became more so ATM. It's
now better than it's ever been which is not so shabby for a 59 year old I
 reckon.

I do believe also that it must improve the skin's elasticity because I'm not
suffering from the drooping flesh which is so often a very unpleasant
 residual of huge weight loss.

I have wanted to share this for some time but thought I should stifle my
impulsive temperament for a little while to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

 Hope it's helpful to someone.

 hugs

I MENTIONED THIS BEFORE, BUT I JUST GOTTA SHARE. I HAVE
BEEN TAKING LIPITOR AND ZETIA FOR MY FAT BLOOD. AFTER MY STENTS IN MY LEGS
DUE TO BLOCKAGE WHILE I WAS TAKING THE Rx's, MY PRO TOLD ME TO START TAKING FISH
OIL, 1000 PER DAY. TEST SHOWED IMPROVEMENT FROM THE MID 300's TO THE MID
200's. HE INCREASED THE FISH OIL TO 2000, 1000 TWICE A DAY
[AM-PM].

TESTS LAST WEEK NOW SHOW THE TRI's AND TOTAL CLOLES TO BE IN
THE LOW 100's.

DANG

JUST FYI FOR THOSE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I'M NOW GONNA SEE
IF I CAN GET OFFA DA LIPITOR AND GIT RID OF THE ASSOCIATED MUSCLE
PAI.
