[SlimDevices: Touch] Setting a DNS - no easy way to change the Touch?
Is there really no easy way to set up a specific DNS address for the Touch? I really don't want to have to reset and lose all the other settings. castalla's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15624 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96847 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Triode wrote: You will need to make sure you play files as flac to the player then to make 96k sample rates work. Hi Triode Firstly, thank you for your quick responses, and secondly, thanks a stack for the awesome utility! I think I mentioned in my first thread that I was using FLAC predominantly/only. The hi-res files are also FLAC, purchased and downloaded from Linn. From your previous responses to other queries, I've ensured that in LMS the file-type for FLAC has the PCM option changed to FLAC. It appears that EDO isn't able to see the TacT RCS when I go into the advanced settings on the SBT, selecting the digital out option. I'm using coax, not optical. Do you think that I should perhaps update the firmware from 7.7.2 to 7.8 beta? I don't have any problems playing audio files up to 96 kHz or internet radio stations with low sampling rates; it's only files that are sampled at rates greater than 96 kHz these play slowly. I've been using Logitech's Squeezeboxes/Slimdevices for ages, plugged directly into the S/PDIF input of the RCS 2.2 without any problems, and now, after upgrading with the EDO firmware, the sound has improved so that my listening experience has benefited even more. Thank you, once again. I can happily listen to 44,1 kHz and hi-res files at up to 96 kHz, but would love to hear for myself if the higher resolutions sound even better, so I would really appreciate it if I can get my SBT to output the 192 kHz files and not down-sample them to 96 kHz and slow speed, as it's presently doing. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Setting a DNS - no easy way to change the Touch?
What I do is 1. Enable the DHCP server of the router. 2. Set the DHCP lease to infinity so they never expire - this is the very nearly the same as static as there are no lease renewals 3. Change the DNS address in the router DHCP server to use OpenDNS so the router gives the OpenDNS address to all devices which make a DHCP request. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96847 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

In fact, I'm trying to sort out a couple of issues at the same time - bad move, I know, confounding variables! The main issue is that I have a dns redirect on the router. If the router goes down and restarts, then the dns redirect has to be re-authorised. If this happens when I'm not around then all the radios fail to connect to the Beeb, causing moans and groans from others! So, I want to redirect the radios to a standard dns. The World Service issue, I accept, is probably something else. Don't worry, I accept all responsibility for any messups! Thanks for the advice. This is because even with reserved IP address, SB players can sometimes stumble with DNS access. I don't understand the technical aspects, but something related to decisions made by designers about how the SB players deal with DNS that is not as flexible as some other network devices. Plus one can add other DNS addresses other than the router itself (google public DNS: 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4) garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96736 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] connection reset by local host when switching player on Spotify and WiMP
Today I decided to do some structured testing. I reset all my players and start playing music at them simultaneously. To my surprise it all went well! I played different radio stations, different music from WiMP, and local MP3 files stored on the server in a mix. Even some tunes from my old playlists with Spotify entries played (even If I have no subscription anymore?) Then suddenly one of the players got a #8220;connection reset by local host#8221; After that it would not play any more Internet radio or WiMP. Just local MP3 files. I then increased the #8220;buffer length for Internet radio#8221; at the server, and also the #8220;Wait time for radio station#8221; and reset all the players and started up radio on all. It went good for a long time and I thought that I have solved the problem and stopped all the players but one. After some time I tried to start again but now I got the #8220;connection reset..#8221; error again #61516; But not on the playser that had been playing all the time. Maybe this is a clue? Conclusion so far: The problem is not connected to switching player. When a player have had one error it will NOT get back to normal without a reset You can always play local MP3 files so it must be related to some network thing More testing later: Please share your own testing Fermate's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57506 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96670 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput
Anton wrote: Hi Triode Firstly, thank you for your quick responses, and secondly, thanks a stack for the awesome utility! If the source files are flaces, do you have the flac native setting enabled in settings, file types? Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Setting a DNS - no easy way to change the Touch?
Okay - fixed address now set. I messed up the interfaces edit! So, I had to do the DHCP disable and do a reset enter the info. Will test over the next few hours. castalla's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15624 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96847 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput
Thank you to Triode for pointing me in the right direction. 192k files are playing just fine now with through USB. I just had to play flac files natively and voilá, everything works just fine. Thank you very, very much. now the hunt for a decent USB cable can begin best regards André reverendo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32850 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94512 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
