[Bug 872093] Re: SD Card not being recognized
Thiago Motta, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc5 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags removed: kernel-needs-upstream-bug-report ** Tags added: latest-bios-a15 needs-upstream-testing ** Summary changed: - SD Card not being recognized + 1217:7120 SD Card not being recognized ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 892906 O2 Micro, Inc. [Bug 872093] Re: SD Card not being recognized
found this workaround in fedora forums, works half by half, e.g. works when sdcard not inserted on boot. You must add those lines to one of the *.conf files in the etc/modprobe.d folder, I believe it would be dist.conf. Do this by typing the following into konsole. (substitute gedit with text editor of choice) Code: sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/dist.conf Then just add those lines: Code: alias mmc_core tifm_core alias mmc_card tifm_sd And save the file. *If this is the wrong .conf file, someone please correct me. This situation doesn't seem to have changed, even though there has been another release of the Kernel, now 3.0.0-15.25, I'm not sure exactly what this change was supposed to cover but built in SD Card readers don't seem to be consided as standard. [Bug 872093] Re: SD Card not being recognized
In my frustration I purchased a USB Card Reader and that permits me to read the SD cards (and others) via a USB port, so the problem must be not seeing or identifying the hardware but I'm not sure how to confirm this. I have tried looking at the kernel.org site but though it seems to be active (the last date quoted seems to be 25 Nov 2011) but I can't see any search facility and the numbers may be latest releases not that used by Ubuntu. This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug report at bugzilla.kernel.org [1]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug. If you are comfortable with opening a bug upstream, It would be great if you can report back the upstream bug number in this bug report. That will allow us to link this bug to the upstream report. [Bug 872093] Re: SD Card not being recognized
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Tags added: regression-release ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872093 Title: SD Card not being recognized To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/872093/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 872093] Re: SD Card not being recognized
Hi, i tested with kernels 3.0.4, 3.0.6 and 3.1rc9 and all of then has this same problem. I had to reinstall the system from my previous posted info because some custom changes i made where causing the system to crash at boot and i didnt had time to troubleshoot, it was quicker for me to reinstal. Again, i ran full-upgrade before installing mainline kernel and making the tests, but i should mention that the system was overall very unstable with this kernel... I belive this is very likelly to be on the mainline kernel because i have the same error in Fedora 16 and OpenSUSE 12.1 that use the same kernel, the previous versions of them also work fine. apport-collect is running and should post the data soon (as i said the mainline kernel is very unstable and slowed a lot my system). Please, let me know if there is any aditional info i can provide. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872093 Title: SD Card not being recognized To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/872093/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
