All good now - I didn't fully get the fact that Jivelite sent output via HDMI as well as to any screen - obvious really, so went done that route, configured Flirc on PC for most common controls, now just going to try getting my Harmony Hub to get it right - Two wonderful products killed by Logitech! Thanks - I did try those, I found after originally posted, but got stuck on $ sudo /usr/local/sbin/inputlircd -n "flirc.tv flirc" -m 0 -g -r 500 Today I'm getting Command not found, but I was getting something else yesterday - I'll keep playing, not much else to do today apart from take decorations down. With JiveLite install I am guessing I don't need any of the IR parts as FLIRC is viewed as a USB keyboard (Which I didn't realize until the earlier reply). Off Topic - the reason why I am looking at this is my SB2 has semi-died - see https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?117314-SB2-Display-died-after-power-loss and we had the SB2 with a 'fuzzy clock" which is now missed by the family - if I went with a small display on the Pi is there an equivalent display option for when nothing is playing? Get got an ir receiver for my piCoreplayer. Works great 1) According to an earlier post, holding down the ffwd should seek through the currently playing song. What it does do is to cycle through all songs in the playlist. How can I get seek working? 2) How hard would it be to map the sleep key to now playing? Would like to be able to cycle through the now playing screens. I have both the full sized squeezebox remote and the mini squeezebox remote. The mini squeezebox remote does not have a key for now playing, that is why I would like to map the sleep key to now playing. bengaldave's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4605 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110640 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I've only been using Jivelite and piCorePlayer for about a week, but I've successfully managed to connect and setup remote control using a TSOP38238. Is it possible to modify the keytable file to support more than one type of remote control so that I can use the original Squeezebox remote and a Yamaha receiver programmable remote? Unfortunately the Yamaha remote doesn't have the commands for the Squeezebox remote built-in and it isn't a learning remote. mfraser's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22793 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110640 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Howto create a linux kernel IR remote keytable for Jivelite on piCorePlayer 5
Hi there again - thanks for the tips Ralphy, but i'm not sure i fully understood them ?! Anyway, having messed around far too much with LIRC - trying to somehow disable the receive function, whilst exploiting transmit (didn't work in the end, i could either have only Rx with IR-tools, or only Tx with LIRC) - and then i discovered ir-ctl ! So, ir-ctl is part of the ir-tools package and will allow me to transmit, whilst receive continues to work as is! ir-ctl -f gives me this: Receive features /dev/lirc0: - Device cannot receive Send features /dev/lirc0: - Device can send raw IR - IR scancode encoder - Set carrier - Set duty cycle So this makes sense i guess as receive is already busy via jivelite. and indeed, the following will send a key code and make the IR LED flash: sudo ir-ctl -S rc6_0:0xA45B However, this wont turn my NAD amp on !! - whereas the licrc equivalent: irsend SEND_ONCE NAD_SR6 KEY_POWER does indeed work. Below is the first part of the LIRC config file i am using for my amp - and i assumed if i could guess the correct protocol (which is the function of the first part of the lirc.conf file right ?!) then all i need to send would be the key code and possibly the pre_data 0xE13E beforehand (which i think identifies the make and model). But i cant find / guess whcih IR protocol the NAD is using and also i cant get any to work with the 4 hex numbers 0xE13EA45B So, the two questions I have are: Am i barking up the right tree or completely not ? / and does anyone have a clue which IR protocol NAD use ?? I don't know - but with those limited functions that do not rely on real navigation then I suppose it could work. Are you trying to control a player that is not on this device? If yes - then that could be a problem if Jivelite has switched to a different player. Can you reconnect a screen to watch what is happening? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Howto create a linux kernel IR remote keytable for Jivelite on piCorePlayer 5
I'm really disappointed with how the remote part works with jivelive enabled... I don't know what's going on since i'm running my pibox headless but the remote doesnt work. I have jivelite enabled, it's supposedly running, my harmony remote was programmed to work with flirc. And about a month ago when I set it up and still had pi connected to my tv to see whats going on it was working. Now I found a pair of speakers, connected them and the remote doesnt work. It's not plug&play friendly enough for my wife that needs the remote to work to switch it on/off and cycle between saved stations. Am I doing something wrong, should I switch to LIRC? ralphy wrote an excellent guide in post '#44' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110640-Howto-create-a-linux-kernel-IR-remote-keytable-for-Jivelite-on-piCorePlayer-5&p=983675&viewfull=1#post983675). It's also a bit more complicated than just enabling jivelite. But is it more foolproof and plug&play friendly once set up? I also have an IR jive module that I use that's based on the squeezeplay_fab4 ir driver from the touch, but uses lircd to get the IR events. IR Navigation is identical to that of the hardware players, in that the key hold actions work, which the current implementation does not support. However, what we currently have in pcp is more flexible in terms of what actions can be executed. So there's that tradeoff. The ir module currently supports the slimdevices remotes by default and you can map actions for other remotes using lircrc and/or key symbols. I haven't released it yet, but if you don't have any luck getting lircd-uinput to work, it's another option that can be explored. Hi, i have an IR remote (squeezebox original) all working well with Jivelite. However, i want to set up an IR transmit function so i can send 'power on' to the amp to take it out of standby. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Howto create a linux kernel IR remote keytable for Jivelite on piCorePlayer 5
Okay, please tell me how you got it working, NoobNR7. I have really tried. I have 15 open tabs. Started going through the procedure that ralphy wrote on page 5. I also have a FLIRC and I just want to control the player to stop, start, maybe have a few favorite stations on buttons 1-9. Just like you I've tried enabling IR, then disable IR and enabling Jivelite. All sorts of tweaks and nothing! I'm so frustrated. I have now completely deleted and reinstalled pCp and want to start from scratch. So pCp with LMS is installed. I have 9 stations in my favourites in LMS. I have a harmony remote that I want to use with the pCp. But first I would like to control the player with a remote from my previous radio device. It has all the buttons I need and when pCp works with it I'll add a new device in Harmony and have it learn the IR codes from this older remote. I've mapped all the buttons I need in FLIRC on windows. I plug in my FLIRC and nothing happens. If I press the buttons in notepad on Windows I get the correct responses. So why doesn't pCp respond? This is the keymap I used: > To program the FLIRC IR USB receiver, here are the steps to follow: > > Go to your computer and go to > Download the version of FLIRC programing software depending on your > OS > Launch the software > Plug the FLIRC into a USB port of your computer (wait for the > computer to install the drivers if necessary) > In the FLIRC software, click on FILE and CLEAR Configuration > CLick on the Controllers Tab and select Full Keyboard > Take your JusBoom IR Remote and start programming as follow: (pls > make sure to respect capital format) > > > > Remote Key To Press --- Virtual Full Keyboard Key to press > Power Button --- Q > Home --- [ > MUTE --- C > UP --- Up Arrow > Left --- Left Arrow > OK --- l (this is a small L) > Right --- Right Arrow > Down --- Down Arrow > Menu --- A > Back --- Esc > Vol Down --- - (this is minus sign) > Vol Up --- + (this is plus sign) > > Next step is to click on FILE in your FLIRC software and SAVE > configuration in order to save the program file (wherever you want) if > one day you want to reprogram the remote > Close the FLIRC software and open the NotePad on your computer > Click into the notepad in order to see the cursor flashing > Take your JustBoom remote, aim at the IR USB receiver > Start testing the remote by pressing Mute or volume + or - button > It should write in the notepad the command (ie: C or +) > Check that you entered correctly all the commands > Remove the USB receiver from the computer and insert it into the PCP > player > You should be all set Please Jeff, help another lost user. I bought the flirc some time ago. Hoping it would make my pcp life easier... I did not got it to work a while ago... The past weekend was my second attempt. I programmed the flirc with some keys on my Windows PC. If I use the flirc dongle on my Windows system I can see the keys I have programmed when I use notepad. On my picoreplayer nothing happens? If I understand you correct? I do not need to activate lirc? I do not have to activate jivelite and/or jivelite ir settings? Jivelite was the keytable way? Just put in the correct keys when I am programming the flirc usb receiver? Ah ok... I just connected my Logitech wireless keyboard. It works like that? Oh... well my Logitech keyboard works of course... I used when I installed pcp for first time... I am going to try some things... Will be back to let you know. You just put my thoughts on a different track. Remove inputlircd from user commands and add it to /opt/bootlocal.sh before the pcp_startup.sh line. Code: tc@rpi37-wls:~$ cat /opt/bootlocal.sh #!/bin/sh # put other system startup commands here GREEN="$(echo -e '\033[1;32m')" echo echo "${GREEN}Running bootlocal.sh..." /USR/LOCAL/SBIN/INPUTLIRCD -N \"FLIRC.TV FLIRC\" -M 0 -G -R 500 -T /HOME/TC/INPUTLIRCD.KEYMAP > /VAR/LOG/PCP_INPUTLIRCD.LOG 2>&1 #pCPstart-- /usr/local/etc/init.d/pcp_startup.sh 2>&1 | tee -a /var/log/pcp_boot.log #pCPstop-- That will launch inputlircd before squeezelite is started and save any output from inputlircd to /var/log/pcp_inputlircd.log Ralphy *1*-Touch, *5*-Classics, *3*-Booms, *1*-UE Radio 'Squeezebox client builds' (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/) 'donations' (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=LL5P6365KQEXN&lc=CA&item_name=Squeezebox%20client%20builds¤cy_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donate_SM%2egif%3aNonHosted) always appreciated. ralphy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3484 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110640 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

This requires a change to squeezelite to enable repeat for those keys. Update squeezelite to 1.9.7-1270 from the picoreplayer webgui main tab. You can push the "Favorites" button, then enter the number of a favorite (something between 1 and 99), and then hit "Play" and squeezelte will start playing the favorite. Another option is to create a /home/tc/.lircrc file to map the KEY_1 to KEY_6 to presets. Code: begin button = KEY_1 repeat = 1 prog = squeezelite config = preset_1 end begin button = KEY_2 repeat = 1 prog = squeezelite config = preset_2 end begin button = KEY_3 repeat = 1 prog = squeezelite config = preset_3 end begin button = KEY_4 repeat = 1 prog = squeezelite config = preset_4 end begin button = KEY_5 repeat = 1 prog = squeezelite config = preset_5 end begin button = KEY_6 repeat = 1 prog = squeezelite config = preset_6 end Pressing 1..6 will play the preset and holding the key will set the currently playing track/stream to the preset. So I managed to get it to work with my old Squeezebox remote, through FLIRC into PCP6.1 in the way that you have described. Now, the basic keys work ok (power, play, pause, shuffle, repeat). However, as far as I can tell, KEY_NEXT and KEY_FORWARD have exactly the same actions: they move to the next track in the currently playing playlist. Same goes for KEY_BACK and KEY_REWIND: they skip the beginning of the current track, and then to the previous one. I was thinking that FORWARD/REWIND would skip within the track and NEXT/BACK would skip to the next/previous track. Is this something I can configure somewhere? Also, how can I configure the numeric buttons to launch particular favourites? Right now KEY_1 etc do nothing apart from registering in Squeezelite. Thanks! Many thanks for these great detailed instructions, Ralphy. I have no physical access to my pCP in the next couple of weeks. I will try this once I am back home and report back. Many thanks again!! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Howto create a linux kernel IR remote keytable for Jivelite on piCorePlayer 5
First you must disable IR remote control in the web tweaks tab and reboot before proceeding. Next, install pcp-lircd from the extensions webgui. Reboot if needed. Next, ensure squeezelite is stopped. Code: sudo /usr/local/etc/init.d/squeezelite stop Plug in your FLIRC and find the name. Code: $ cat /proc/bus/input/devices I: Bus=0003 Vendor=20a0 Product=0001 Version=0101 N: Name="flirc.tv flirc" P: Phys=usb-2098.usb-1.3/input0 S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/soc/2098.usb/usb1/1-1/1-1.3/1-1.3:1.0/0003:20A0:0001.0001/input/input0 U: Uniq= H: Handlers=sysrq kbd event0 B: PROP=0 B: EV=10001f B: KEY=3007f 0 0 0 0 483 17aff32d bf56 0 0 1 130c13 b17c000 267bfa d941dfed e09effdf 1cf fffe B: REL=40 B: ABS=1 0 B: MSC=10 Start inputlircd from the command line while testing. I've found the following options work best. $ sudo /usr/local/sbin/inputlircd -n "flirc.tv flirc" -m 0 -g -r 300 -c Run irw and press each key. Note with keycode that is generated for which key. Code: $ irw 29 0 KEY_C /dev/input/event0 19 0 KEY_P /dev/input/event0{/code] For example my slimdevices remote PAUSE key sends KEY_C and PLAY sends KEY_P. The codes from your flirc will likely be different as I'm using an old flirc config which I created for use with jivelite on my wandboard, since I don't want to reprogram my flirc. Stop irw by pressing control-C Create a file mapping of the keycode from your remote to a corresponding keycode squeezelite operation. For example: Code: $ cat /home/tc/inputlircd.keymap KEY_C = KEY_PAUSE KEY_P = KEY_PLAY The list of squeezelite IR keycodes can be found 'here' (https://github.com/ralph-irving/squeezelite/blob/master/ir.c#L103) Restart inputlircd from the command line adding the mapping file to test. sudo /usr/local/sbin/inputlircd -n "flirc.tv flirc" -m 0 -g -r 300 -f -c -t /home/tc/inputlircd.keymap Start squeeelite with the -i option and -d ir=debug to test if the keys work. You can ignore the error reading the ir config. It's not needed for inputlircd Note that you need at least squeezelite version 1.9.7-1237 for this to work. Code: $ squeezelite -d ir=debug -i [11:28:55.788622] load_lirc:242 loaded liblirc_client.so.0 [11:28:55.791797] ir_init:261 error reading config: ~/.lircrc [11:28:57.951369] ir_thread:199 ir lirc: KEY_PLAY [0] -> 768910ef [11:29:05.246239] ir_thread:199 ir lirc: KEY_PAUSE [0] -> 768920df Once you're happy with the key map file, backup your pcp config and confirm the mapping file is in the backup. Code: $ tar -tvf mydata.tgz | grep input -rw-r--r-- ralphy/users35 2020-08-01 11:20:21 home/tc/inputlircd.keymap Now in the webgui. Put /usr/local/sbin/inputlircd -n "flirc.tv flirc" -m 0 -g -r 300 -c -t /home/tc/inputlircd.keymap in one of the user commands and also add -i to squeezelite various options field on the squeezelite tab. Backup your config once more and reboot. Picoreplayer only supports the flirc usb dongle with jivelite by default. However, it is possible to control squeezelite with a usb device that mimics a keyboard, like the flirc dongle using inputlircd if you manually install the pcp-lirc extension. That being said, it's not an simple setup. If you enabled lirc through tweaks, pcp will launch lircd at startup which conflicts with inputlircd. So you must disable IR remote control in the web tweaks tab and reboot before proceeding. Next, install pcp-lircd from the extensions webgui and put /usr/local/sbin/inputlircd in one of the user commands. Next add -i to squeezelite various options field on the squeezelite tab. You will likely need to create a mapping file (-t) and you might need to add -m 0 and -r 300 in addition to the input device your usb device is sending key events on. See the 'inputlircd manpage' (https://manpages.debian.org/jessie/inputlirc/inputlircd.8.en.html) for option details. I did try it with another remote with more buttons but it just did not work, it appeared as 'necx' protocol, whatever that is! If you are loading manually, your file must be called /usr/local/etc/keytables/jivelite The upload script will automatically rename whatever you upload to the above name. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Howto create a linux kernel IR remote keytable for Jivelite on piCorePlayer 5
Your device is using /dev/lirc1 according to the details from ir-keytable. But you can't use it with jivelite. Jivelite will read from /dev/input/event1 but you'll need to create a keytable file. It appears you haven't followed the steps outlined in post #1 as not all the IR protocols have been loaded and that's likely why -t doesn't print any scancodes. mce_kbd appears in the supported protocols but not in the enabled list. sudo ir-keytable -p all -c sudo ir-keytable -t etc. Ralphy *1*-Touch, *5*-Classics, *3*-Booms, *1*-UE Radio 'Squeezebox client builds' (https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsclients/files/) 'donations' (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=LL5P6365KQEXN&lc=CA&item_name=Squeezebox%20client%20builds¤cy_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donate_SM%2egif%3aNonHosted) always appreciated. ralphy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3484 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110640 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Hi ralphy Ok, yes, the kernel support seems to be there. sudo ir-keytable gives Code: Found /sys/class/rc/rc1/ (/dev/input/event1) with: Name: Media Center Ed. eHome Infrared Remote Transceiver (0471:0815) Driver: mceusb, table: rc-rc6-mce LIRC device: /dev/lirc1 Supported kernel protocols: lirc rc-5 rc-5-sz jvc sony nec sanyo mce_kbd rc-6 sharp xmp imon Enabled kernel protocols: lirc rc-6 bus: 3, vendor/product: 0471:0815, version: 0x Repeat delay = 500 ms, repeat period = 125 ms which is a good start. However, sudo ir-keytable doesn't give any response - I assume because it's listening on GPIO 25. How do we tell it to listen on /dev/lirc1 instead? psketch's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56555 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110640 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

The pcp 4.19.40 kernel includes the rc media driver for your dongle. Code: modinfo mceusb.ko | grep 815 alias: usb:v0471p0815d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip*in* Try removing lirc and reboot. Confirm jivelite is installed then install IR-tools for jivelite and reboot. Run sudo ir-keytable to see if the device is found. If yes, then try the steps outlined in post #1. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Howto create a linux kernel IR remote keytable for Jivelite on piCorePlayer 5
Hi Guys I wondered if there was going to be any way to still support USB dongles with jivelite? I understand of course things move on, but I see that with the 5.x setup, I can get my dongle to work if I install lircd support for squeezelite - i.e. before installing jivelite. Once I've done this, I can see the /dev/lirc devices present, so it seems it's possible to get lircd on the new kernel. However, once I install jivelite, i don't see these devices at all. dmesg is Code: tc@GymPlayer:~$ dmesg [0.00] Booting Linux on physical CPU 0x0 [0.00] Linux version 4.19.40-pcpCore (pCP@SoundStation) (gcc version 7.3.1 20180425 (crosstool-NG 1.23.0.418-d590)) #1 Sat May 11 13:40:46 EDT 2019 [0.00] CPU: ARMv6-compatible processor [410fb767] revision 7 (ARMv7), cr=00c5387d [0.00] CPU: PIPT / VIPT nonaliasing data cache, VIPT nonaliasing instruction cache [0.00] OF: fdt: Machine model: Raspberry Pi Model B Rev 1 [0.00] Memory policy: Data cache writeback [0.00] cma: Reserved 8 MiB at 0x0e00 [0.00] On node 0 totalpages: 61440 [0.00] Normal zone: 540 pages used for memmap [0.00] Normal zone: 0 pages reserved [0.00] Normal zone: 61440 pages, LIFO batch:15 [0.00] random: get_random_bytes called from start_kernel+0x90/0x4a0 with crng_init=0 [0.00] pcpu-alloc: s0 r0 d32768 u32768 alloc=1*32768 [0.00] pcpu-alloc: [0] 0 ... As Greg mentioned, we provide support for the slimdevices remote as the default when the IR tools are installed. We also provide keytables for the JustBoom IR and Sony RMT-D11[67]A remotes. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Howto create a linux kernel IR remote keytable for Jivelite on piCorePlayer 5
hi Paul Webster, They should work with the default IR install. Through squeezelite or jivelite depending on configuration. I tested this many times on the pCP5.0.0 beta and rc. I haven't tested on the official pCP5.0.0 release yet. regards Greg Greg Erskine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7403 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110640 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Does 5.0 contain out-of-the-box support for using official Squeezebox IR remote (in my case with simple TSOP on GPIO) - or will people have to go through the keytable set-up steps? [SlimDevices: Unix] Howto create a linux kernel IR remote keytable for Jivelite on piCorePlayer 5
piCorePlayer 5.0 is not GA but we expect it's release soon. * The 4.19 linux kernel has removed the original LIRC uinput drivers that piCorePlayer has used since 3.x for navigating Jivelite with an IR remote control. The feature is still supported but you need to migrate your lircd.conf files to an IR keytables configuration. If you are using the FLIRC usb dongle, it works the same as in previous piCorePlayer releases. IR keytables requires an IR receiver connected to a GPIO of your raspberry pi. I'm using these '38 kHz TSOP4838 DIP-3 IR Receiver Modules' (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00VJNCMBM/). Check out 'this video' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-f25PeqduU) for info on creating a solderless harness to connect an IR receiver directly to the rpi. So let's get started. Switch to Beta mode at the bottom of the Main page of the piCorePlayer 5 webgui. Install Jivelite from the webgui Tweaks Tab->Jivelite Setup, reboot and configure jivelite. Navigate to the IR Page from the webgui Tweaks Tab->IR Remote Control section. 27517 Click Install IR tools for use with jivelite and reboot. Set the GPIO number in Set LIRC GPIO in number (IR receiver) if you are not using the default 25, save and reboot. Connect to your piCorePlayer using ssh or putty and login as the tc user. Clear the default kernel keytable and load all IR protocol drivers. Code: sudo ir-keytable -p all -c Code: Old keytable cleared Protocols changed to lirc rc-5 rc-5-sz jvc sony nec sanyo mce_kbd rc-6 sharp xmp imon Note the list of IR Protocols loaded. Check that your remote is recognized To test this, we are going to run ir-keytable and press some buttons on our remote control. Code: sudo ir-keytable -t Code: Testing events. Please, press CTRL-C to abort. 5740.570027: lirc protocol(sony12): scancode = 0xe001b 5740.570043: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0xe001b 5740.570043: event type EV_SYN(0x00). 5740.620027: lirc protocol(sony12): scancode = 0xe001b 5740.620047: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0xe001b 5740.620047: event type EV_SYN(0x00). 5740.680024: lirc protocol(sony12): scancode = 0xe001b 5740.680044: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0xe001b 5740.680044: event type EV_SYN(0x00). If you do not see any output as you press your remote buttons, your remote may not be supported or you have the wrong GPIO configured for the IR receiver. >From the Testing events we can determine that my remote uses the sony protocol If you have an lircd.conf for your remote from piCorePlayer 3 or 4, make a copy of it and load it into your favorite text editor. Delete everything except the key symbols and you should have a file similiar to this. Code: KEY_MINUS 0xD8E # Tape B Fast Rewind KEY_EQUAL 0x38E # Tape B Fast Forward KEY_UP 0xCC1 # Tape A Fast Rewind KEY_DOWN 0x2C1 # Tape A Fast Forward KEY_RIGHT 0xC41 # Tape A Forward KEY_LEFT 0x6C1 # Tape A Record KEY_ENTER 0x1C1 # Tape A Stop KEY_ESC 0x9C1 # Tape A Pause The format of the keytable file is rather simple: It's a plain text file, the first line contains a header with a descriptive name (you can choose that rather arbitrarily, but better avoid special characters, spaces and such) and the remote protocol to use (the type: - which is very important). After that each line contains a mapping of remote scancode to Linux keycode. If you made a comment with the remote key that corresponds to the scan code, creating the keytable file is quite simple. Press each key on the remote and put the scancode BEFORE the key symbol in the file we just created. The scancode in the earlier test was for the Tape B Fast Rewind key on my Sony RM-S70 remote. Once complete remove all text following the key symbol name. Next we need to add the header line to identify the remote the file is for and the protocol; used by the kernel keytable loader. The completed keytable file. Code: table: rms70, type: sony 0xe001b KEY_MINUS 0xe001c KEY_EQUAL 0x100033 KEY_UP 0x100034 KEY_DOWN 0x100032 KEY_RIGHT 0x100036 KEY_LEFT 0x100038 KEY_ENTER 0x100039 KEY_ESC If you are creating a keytable file for a new remote, you can refer to my 'Jivelite action to key symbol spreadsheet' (https://github.com/ralph-irving/tcz-lirc/blob/master/jivekeys.csv) to help identify the jive action to key symbol mapping needed. Save your new keytable file, I use the remote model for the name, but you it can be called whatever you like. Now we need to upload the file using the piCorePlayer webgui Upload custom jivelite keytables to pCP on the IR page. Click Browse and choose your new keytable file, select it and click upload. If successful you should be able to
