Re: [USRP-users] When ssh'ing Getting prompt for Password Issue

Hi Konstantin,

Yes, I suspect there may be an issue with a configuration or change to the SSH
configs on your current image. Starting with a fresh release-4 image should
resolve the issue.

 Hi Konstantin,

 You may want to try putting your VM into a Bridge Network mode. There may
 be an issue with the NAT routing. If operating in Bridged mode, ensure
 your Host, VM and E3xx all have different IP addresses.

Nate, Thanks for all the info..

I just want to refresh your memory that I was able to connect via serial
port... Only root was needed and no password was needed... so that worked
fine.. because this is how I altered the IP address of the E310.

So with that stated, should I just jump t refreshing the SD card - step 2?

OK.. I did it your way and I am connecting via ping your way now too

Bu again, when I do the ssh command, it is asking for a password.

So, I am getting the samething as I was before...

Does ssh have to be setup on the E310???

Is there a way to check/reset the password on the E310?

Thanks

Hi Konstantin,

2017-08-03 Thread Matheou, Konstantin J. (GRC-LCI0)[ZIN TECHNOLOGIES INC] via USRP-users
Now, I tried to use Windows Putty to login...

I get to a screen that tells me to place login - which when I place root... it
then takes me to the prompt

root@192.168.10.2's password:

When I place enter a few times it tells me access denied.

The E310 unit is new, so I am assuming there is no previous password.

Any other ideas???

Thanks

Yes I did.. It basically asks 3 times for the password.. After the 3rd time,
the terminal goes back to prompt $...

I am thinking right now... Do I have to install ssh on the E310?

Hello Konstantin:

A quick and easy way to get a Linux system up-and-running would be to use
the Live SDR Environment.

Download the ISO image, write it to a USB 3.0 flash drive, boot from it,
and then try SSH'ing into the E310.

Paolo,
Thats a fundamental H/W limitation of the current FPGA design. Long story
short, it would have been inefficient to support an MTU slightly larger than a
2^N size. It’s also a pretty conservative number in terms of a an MTU that
works for 99% of Hosts and network gear.

2017-08-03 Thread Marcus Müller via USRP-users
Dear Konstantin,

can you please rather copy and paste the text from the console than
making screenshots? makes it easier to read, and research :)

Anyway, in that debug output, there's nothing indicating that the
problem is actually the USRP, and not e.g. a connection breakup by the
virtualizer. Can you try with a native client, e.g. Putty?

I must admit that your usage of a virtual machine, together with the
limited Linux experience, might be adding a lot of variables to this
system that might make things unnecessary hard to work with for you.

Best regards,

Marcus

Hi,

Here are the top cycle-eaters. I knew that the frequency xlating fir filter
was quite hungry, but I'm unsure of how to decide on a transition
bandwidth. I have changed it from 1kHz to 3kHz (that is taps =
firdes.low_pass(1,614400,2.5*9600,3000)) and the flowgraph seems to be
running without problem now. I'll run it overnight and see what happens.

If you could offer some advice on the transition bandwidth I'd be very
grateful, but thanks for this perf tip - very useful!

Cheers,

[USRP-users] B210, MIMO Problem

2017-08-03 Thread Masoud Naderpour via USRP-users
Dear Ettus Technical Support Team,
So far I have been successful getting the UHD C++ APIs to run the USRP B210
both on Linux(Eclipse) and Windows (Microsoft Visual Studio) in their SISO
mode. I have tried further to run the USRP on its both channels.
Unfortunately I have not been successful although trying a lot. In my codes
I try to run the both channel by the following uhd stream.

size_t channel[2] = { 0,1 };;
uhd_stream_args_t stream_args = {
cpu_format = "fc32",
otw_format = "sc16",
args = "",
channellist = channel,
n_channel = 1
};
But when I run the code, only one of the channels captures the signal. When
I run the benchmark_rate example I can run both channel receiving and
sending simultaneously. I have reviewed the source code of the
benchmark_rate code. I have found that in this code have been written
somehow differently maybe by C++ APIs not native C API. I tried to mimic
the code. I ran the example code on your website (click here
https://kb.ettus.com/Getting_Started_with_UHD_and_C%2B%2B)  but the
compiler shows a run time exception on the following line of the code:

 uhd::usrp::multi_usrp::sptr usrp=uhd::usrp::multi_usrp::make(device_args);

The error is an Access Violation at a specified address of memory.
Furthermore, I tried the srsLTE opensource program, the latest version
in which it supports the transmit diversity scheme(./pdsch_ue -f
186000 -A 2, in the Linux terminal). But when I configure the code
to capture on both channels it only captures on one of them. I would
be thankful if you get me out of this trouble.
Thanks,
Masoud

[USRP-users] X310: is it possible to overcame 8000 frame size for ethernet?

2017-08-03 Thread Paolo Palana via USRP-users
Hello to all the mailing list.

I'm playing around with my X310, as far as I can understand the maximum
ethernet frame size supported by this device is 8000.
(in fact in x300_impl.hpp there is this constant static const size_t
X300_10GE_DATA_FRAME_MAX_SIZE = 8000;).

Because I'm curious I made an attempt and modified this value to 9710
(the maximum MTU size for my linux box) and I put some cout inside the
function
determine_max_frame_size (in x300_impl.cpp). This function seems to
negotiate the MTU between the X310 and the host.

What I observerd is that if I keep X300_10GE_DATA_FRAME_MAX_SIZE=8000
determine_max_frame_size negotiate the rigth MTU

recv_test_frame_size = 6004 recv_size = 6004
recv_test_frame_size = 7004 recv_size = 7004
recv_test_frame_size = 7504 recv_size = 7504
recv_test_frame_size = 7752 recv_size = 7752
recv_test_frame_size = 7876 recv_size = 7876
recv_test_frame_size = 7940 recv_size = 7940
recv_test_frame_size = 7972 recv_size = 7972
recv_test_frame_size = 7988 recv_size = 7988
recv_test_frame_size = 7996 recv_size = 7996
recv_test_frame_size = 8000 recv_size = 8000

while if I set X300_10GE_DATA_FRAME_MAX_SIZE=9710 when
determine_max_frame_size try to send more than 8912 bytes, happens like
a brick on the X310,
no more ethernet traffic is possible (even ICMP). This sounds really
like somewhere there is a buffer of 8192 bytes in length.

I made also an attempt to modify the MTU parameter on the noc_shell and
axi_wrapper modules without results.

Now I perfectly understand that I want to use the device, let me say,
out of specification, but I want to ask if there is way to have a MTU
larger than 8000.

Thank you in advance for your attention.

Best

Re: [USRP-users] C++ --> GRC(Socket PDU ---> QT Frequency GUI)

2017-08-03 Thread Marcus Müller via USRP-users
Hi Jack,

that is really peculiar, as 400k is really not a rate I'd assume you'd
be getting into trouble. I'd agree with your interpretation of the
netstat observations – but really, why on earth would the kernel be so
short on ressources that it has to drop packets?

This calls for an investigation of the run-time behaviour of your flow
graph – something is eating up your ressources. Would you mind
installing "perf" (under Fedora/Redhat/centos: dnf install perf,
debian/Ubuntu/mint...: apt-get install linux-tools), then

sudo sysctl kernel.perf_event_paranoid=-1
perf record -ag python /path/to/your/flow/graph
[let run for a minute or so, then stop operation]
perf report

That should give you a text UI that allows you to see at which points in
operation the CPU was whenever perf looked.
If you want to share that, an easy way would be writing the call tree to
a file, e.g. "perf report --stdio > report.txt" and sharing that report.txt.

Thanks!
Marcus

Hm, yeah, I know it's not trivial, but I'm pretty sure this isn't the
way to go. What kind of flow graph was giving you so much trouble?

Re: [USRP-users] Using both TX/RX and RX2 ports on the same daughter board to receive signal simultaneously

2017-08-03 Thread Nate Temple via USRP-users
Hi Yue,

There is only one RX path, and it is only possible to RX via TX/RX or RX2 at
any given time with the CBX/UBX/SBX/WBX daughterboards. The only exception is
the TwinRX, which has two RX channels (and no TX), that run at 100e6 each.

Regards,
Nate Temple
