This site has quite a range of music including reggae, ragga and
dancehall - it's all worth checking out - it's just a shame that they
don't update it 'weekly' anymore:

Ah but Greg, I am impossible to blackmail!
The Bloc weekend was a great weekend - Aux 88 were 'representing' from
Detroit and put on a fine show, despite being confused about where they
were - Hemsby in Norfolk is NOT in London, Keith n Tommy!
It was a strange sight to see 2 Detroit legends

i'm not a terribly huge fan of dubstep in general, but kode9's sign
of the dub is pretty awesome and freaky.
Hi folks,
Just listening to Gilles on BBC1. Caught a great piano-heavy remix of
Strings Of Life on his show. I guess it's a white label. Christian Plummer
remix? Any thoughts kids?

I don't know if this has been mentioned on here yet (and apologies if it
has), but Liz Copeland's 12 year reign as the queen of over night Detroit
radio is coming to an end.
I'd like to thank Liz and Clark for six excellent years of monthly
electronic music showcases, and Liz for 12 years of
So what's up with this? Are they moving? Did she get canceled? What
will Liz do now?

Another inquiring mind here - ditto on Rob's laudations.

I can second any of the Scientists cartoon cover releases esp Wins the

Also
Dub Factor - Black Uhuru
Starship Africa - Creation Rebel
For the roots dub
Any dub albums on Pressure Sounds, Blood and Fire are usually high
quality and nicely packaged with plenty of meaninfull sleeve notes.
Hehe LKJ shops in my local - he's a very nattily dressed and polite
fellow. And a fantastic poet. Highly recommended.
As well as the below, I would say an absolute must is the compilation of
Lee Perry productions called Arkology - all the farmyard noises you'll
ever need and some of the sweetest
I'm spamming this around because Yasushi Miura is perhaps the most
prolific, creative unsigned creator of electronic music I know of.
And I'm posting to 313 because I can hear a strong Detroit influence
to his music even though he's mutated the influence into something
completely different.

Yeah, I caught it too.
I am not sure how I feel about it. At first I thought the piano sounded great
(and it does), and
really picked up on the intricacies of the melody and chord changes and had to
respect the sheer
class and balls of the original. The meandering bass in this cover is spot-on
The powers that be at WDET, in their finite wisdom, have decided to
move to an all news- all talk format...not unlike the other two NPR
stations within listening range of the Detroit area.
Liz isn't the only air shift to be canceled, they kind of cleaned
house. It's just another sad, sad
Sorry to hear about WDET. Iowa Public Radio has undergone a similar
unfortunate trend. Up until the end of 2006, all the Iowa NPR
stations were locally programmed. But now, because of a decision by
the state Board of Regents -- largely as a cost-cutting move --
decisions about local

It'd be interesting to see who is on that management board - I've
considered NPR to be just another of the big boys of radio.
Their news isn't much different than what you see/hear on CNN. They do
have some good public interest stories and Terry Gross but that's about
it anymore.

No offense to BBC, which is
great in it's own way, but in public radio terms, BBC World Service is
the programming equivalent of a dial tone.
