I can't disagree with anything you've said.
I think that I was mostly reacting with surprise because I know you are a bike
rider and
advocate, and you seemed to be throwing in the towel to bike riding on the
boardwalk in
general.

Bikes are all right early in the morning, when no one is there. But
during the day? The board walk is meant for walkers first, bikes second.
That's how it is anywhere. It's not called a board WALK for nothing!

I don't. I just make the correct statement that in theory MM does not
decide what laws are enforced. And Jack, recall that you
Larry Fishman parks in no parking zones and doesn't get tickets.
How do you explain that?
And, if you did as much bike riding on the streets as I do, you'd realize what

I wish we had more bike paths and lanes in AP/NJ/America.

MM has no say in what laws are enforced.

In Florida they have bike lanes on the boardwalk.
I'd like to have a clearly marked bike and roller blade lane here.
Bloomberg recently declared bike lanes "green lanes" or something like
that. Anyway, he painted them green rather than just having them
defined by white stripes and pictures of

I agree about the strong and consistant enforcement.
That's why it works in places like AC and Wildwood.
It's really just limited, morning hours. Maybe even push the noon limit back
to 11 am. I'd be totally for that, and that's what I do now anyway.

You keep saying that it is just a few people who do not ride responsibly.
This is not so. Over half of the bikes on the boardwalk are constantly
speeding and a disaster is just waiting to happen.

When I was on the boardwalk last night, I took notice of the AC unite on
the 5th ave pavilion. Assuming we are talking about the same one, it is by no
means in any location where there were seats present before! The unit sits on
top of the large "block" on the roof, just west of t
As much as I love riding on the boardwalk, I think they should simply enforce
the hours
for cycling that are posted.
During the week, there is plenty of room for both pedestrians and responsible
cyclists
prior to noon, which is the cut-off time.

I talked with the PD over the weekend about bicycles on the boardwalk.
They told me that they are adopting a wait and see attitude to see how
bicyclists behave.
As it stands, you are allowed to ride your bike on the boardwalk up until noon
everyday
