Something I've noticed today is that, when switching between the RCA
COAX input and Slimserver stream, there is a brief (less than half a
second) burst of noise. I think it might be caused by whatever's coming
in on the RCA COAX input to be played at full volume, regardless of the
TP's volume

Or televisions, for that matter? Why is it a good thing not to be
solely dependant on a remote control? Two obvious reasons come to
mind.

I haven't seen any volume knobs on DVD players, most power amp don't
have any volume controls and my TacT S2150 amp's volume is controlled
by a remote. I've also got a Genesis

It's never really powered off, only idle. All components remain
powered at all times.
I'd have to agree with HighDugeon about M-audio products being built to
last. My Delta-66 (24/96 digital recording system, Breakout Box+PCI
Soundcard) is the oldest piece of Computer hardware I own. It was
bought in the late '90s and is in its 4th or 5th PC--Working Perfectly.

Hi,
I am posting this here as i am trying to use the best audiophile
version of Slimserver and its firmware.
Following some posts i downloaded Slimserver 6.2.1. I downloaded also
the V15 firmware and was able to get them working on my PC.
Problems arrived when installing Slimserver on my MAC.

very latest firmware.

I was originally running both my Transporter and SB3 wireless. The TP
is 4-feet away from my AP (Apple AirPort) and has 100% signal. I had
setup its AUDIO prefs as NO LIMIT. The SB3 had a signal strength of
about 70%, but would continually stutter and skip until I set it to a

I'm just curious about experiences people have had with various
switching or digital amps. I ask this both in relation to using such
amps in direct connection to a Transporter, SB3, or SB3+DAC and in
relation to general thoughts.
As many people know, TAS published a round table on switching

I've found that -20db seems to work well most solid state amps. The
Nuforces, with their high input impedance, worked better at -10db.
-30db is fine, too, but then a goodly portion of the volume control is
silence. At least over here.
