Yes I got that. The thing that causes the whole misunderstanding is,
that the Server and the squeezebox touch's display say, when playing a
flac file that is converted to PCM at

Yes. He refers to people owning a squeezebox device. Some of those
people wrote, based on their personal observations, that converting

Diego, I answered your question:

OK, and thanks. I did not know what a TACT is - I could have googled
it up however.
2) I have done the DTS and HDCD tests (and other tests) that prove

good to know.
Thanks for that clarification. I thought, that PCM (that is the signal
to which the flac is converted, as indicated by the server) was
constant bitrate with a given bit

Easy, I am not offending anybody. However, Andy wrote at one point, that
the opinion of one of his customers (who DID actual tests...) was FUD.
I would not write like that about my customers, even though I am a
fairly recognized expert in my professional domain, too...

Right. Nobody forces you to keep answering, if you consider everything
resolved for you. However, can we stop this when others are
discussing, without anybody that offended you, seems to me, is quite an
attitude ;-) . There was still an open question I asked
If you have a DAC thats indicates icomming sample and bitrate.
it's quite easy to see that you indeed get 24/96 .
Also with the right logging turned on the server settings you see in
the server wich transcoding parameters that where choosen for the
transcoding.
it has also been tested to death

Thanks Phil, for your reply!
Based on my proper experience with a touch and a pretty audiophile
chain behind, including an external DAC, I confirm, that converting
FLACs to WAV on the server does indeed sound better than streaming the
FLACs as such to the Touch - as
Thanks for that comments, Mnyb's!

Well, unfortunately mine doesn't.

Can we stop this? There's no debate or discussion needed.
Fact: The server does NOT downsample for the Touch or Transporter for
ANY file =96kHz.
UNLESS YOU HAVE MANUALLY EDITED THE CONVERT.CONF FILE

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it

Would probably be a nice test to do... however, I might not have

OK, thanks for that note, I will read and think it over again and let

Hi everybody! Probably this question will be easy to reply for many of
you... However: I noticed the following.
I play on a Touch and the server is on a XP notebook.
Now, it is generally accepted that converting FLAC-Files on the Server
