He is using M2Tech Evo USB to SPDIF converter.
I'm using Touch with my Naim DAC.
Anyway, we also tested 840c in my system and I know how it sounds.
Naim DAC is more

A friend of mine went from 840C to Naim DAC.
He felt that it was a significant upgrade.
Actually, we both upgraded our digital setups to nDACs at the same
time.

Thanks so much for all of your advises and sharing of experiences, e
consensus seems to be that, most of you are doubtful that upgrading the
dac do much especially from investment return angle. However at this
stage i am quite happy with my amp/spk combo and

Just 80%!?!? My DAC or amp is not making any sounds. I hear 100% coming

In a word, no. Diminishing returns kick-in quite early.
80% of what you hear is the speakers. Spend lots on speakers...

I came across a number direct online sellng dacs, brands like
wyred4sound, neko (daverz using), twisted pair (soundcheck using), any
other users can comment on the qualities of these dacs compare to dac
part of 840c or stello cpa500? Especially of course to use with a moded
touch. Cheers.

Garym, thanks for the input, you are exactly right, worst is you spend
the $$$ and there is no improvement is sonic quality.

Daverz, 840c is a pretty nice sounding dac, except that the soundstage
is pretty forward "in my face" as i am listening in a near field setup
in small room (could be other part of the chain but i am happy with the

No, I mean get the transporte
I imagine the Klimax owners will sell their 'spare' Klimax through ebay
or the normal channels. The upgrade isn't out yet, so that's why you
won't have seen any.

A Linn Akurate or Majik seems to me the most logical way to go -
checkout the Linn Forum - they have announced an upgrade to the Klimax
DS which includes putting the old Klimax DS board in a new box, which
some owners are planning to sell on for quite modest (ie less than
Akurate DS) prices.
