I've removed the warnings completely when importing using New
Publications From Clipboard. It is just supposed to be trying to
immediately read the pasteboard. If it fails it should just rely on
the default behavior and go to the import sheet, rather than go
through the warnings and error e

I respectfully disagree. If BibDesk gives me an option to "Edit Data"
and pops up a window that allows me to "edit" the data, it's

Yes, that's confusing too.

I don't think that's the problem. Try this:
1) copy this to clipboard

You should choose Cancel. If you choose Keep Going, it ignores the
error and tries to import directly anyway, even if it fails.

I'm trying to import a BibTeX entry from the clipboard. The entry has
some fields with undefined strings (I don't care about those fields).
When I use "New Publications from Clipboard...", two windows pop up:
an "Errors" table, and a dialog "Error Reading String". If I answer
the dialog wit
I don't use BibLatex, so YRMV, but for 'edited book chapters' in
books where there are different authors for each chapter (ie the book
is a collection of articles) I've always used 'incollection' and just
'book' without authors but with editors for the container item.
Perhaps try that befo
I wish I could help with this more---I didn't create or develop that
template, just remembered where it was.
Christiaan's advice in another response on this thread should be of
some use, and in fact, is sure to be the last word or nearly so on
the matter.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Sorry, my mistake. Try to download it again.

Adam,
Thanks for the response.
When I use that template and try to export three records (two journal
articles and a technical report), I get this:
(() et al., et al., 2006 et al., 2006() et al., () et al., et al.,
2003)

You can easily add and remove bibtex types in the prefs under "Default".

I asked here because BibDesk does not have a 'collection' type, which
seems the only way to refer to an edited book (example below) with
biblatex.
Thanks for the precision though!
