You get most of Builder by installing Builder. The "Express" edition
is free these days. There are a handful of things you don't get in the
paid version. Most notable, to me, would be remote debugging, but if
you are primarily doing local development and debugging, it isn't a
big deal.

Actually the most recent upgrade to OSX went very smoothly, no real
conflicts or massive problems. Except for one issue, CF stopped
working. It turned out to be 2 things, Apple removing the web sharing

a virtual machine is your friend if you cannot break the ties to Windows.
Builder has a CF-Studio like (emphasis on like btw) RDS and sql editor
that does much the same as the Studio db tab (mostly, shoulda, coulda
etc). And you can always throw in a SQL plugin if not using Builder.

There are a bunch of quick text changes you can make to some of the eclipse
files to make it run better too.
Lots of good tips on
iStat also provides info on what is taking up ram hd space, network
throughput, tones of other stuff. I find it very useful for what it
does cover.
But you do know that both Apache and MySQL are already installed on the Mac?
I use a VM mostly for working with SQL Server when that is required.

that I need windows for. And I do have an old laptop that I need to reimage, I

I run both (two separate instances) on my Mac Pro, but I haven't
noticed any stability differences. As for speed it depends, I've
really optimized Eclipse. But given the cost of CFBuilder, go with
CFEclipse, combine it with the Aptana community studio and you have
about 95% of builder.

Within the past month or so, Eclipse has been slowly eating more and
more cpu when it runs. Currently I'm watching it use somewhere
between 70 ~ 90% cpu while just sitting there. I've used process
explorer to try to identify what it's doing, but all I've been able to

I think you can just copy over the workspace directory. Of course,
that will also copy over your project definition files too.
