Mike, have you bought any front end parts for your 67 yet? If not,are you
planning a spindle change? The only tall spindle I would consider would be
the forged alum AFX units from ATS. These are the cat's meow but are very
pricey at around $800 w/steering arms and they also require C5/C6 Corvette
br
Jim. I'm just installing a factory GM setup for
now.

What type
of spindle are you going to use? There are kits out there now that allow you to
use the stock spindle. Check with In Line Tube they had a nice set up at the
super Chevy show at MIR.

Absolutely. You can borrow a compressor from an auto store, the compressed springs have too much stored energy to do without. It can be done without but its much more dangerous.
There are several web sites available with complete details & pictures. A few are listed in the WORKSHOP sec
I would definitely
try to borrow or rent a spring compressor setup. They can become deadly projectiles

Yes, Larry. Be super careful. Compress it down "some"!
to the point where it's loose. Loosen the Castle nut
on the upper Ball Joint. Bang on the spindle and it
will fall off the taper. Finish the loosening and
remove the spring. Immediately un-tension the spring.

Yes and no, depends on the year and
options involved. For example, 1967 shows 25 different front springs for
Chevelles, 5 of those for 138xx (SS) cars; one each for hardtop and
convertible, different spring (but same for both) if either have A/C, and a
different spring yet for both if F40
The front will sit high with the SB in it and BB
springs. It will align though.

My experience has been that the only physical difference is that some come with oval
bushings and some with round bushings on the lowers. Not sure exactly why, could have
been big vs. small block. I've interchanged parts for those years without problems.
My 2 cents.

That's not entirely accurate. When I did the 12" rotor swap, the donor car
I used was an '87 Pontiac station wagon and the rotors had a 5" bolt
