What kind of speeds are you trying to achieve using Blender? Because I
agree totally, the idea is fantastic. Although you could also do NLE in
Blender3D itself, it is good to stick with your own editor.

yes, you indeed need the mpeg2e
Funny thing is, the same version works on my Suse 10.3 amd 64... (two
Opterons).
The file /usr/bin/mpeg2enc does exist on my system, and is provided by
mjpegtools-1.9.0rc2-60.pm.0

Well... maybe your installation is more complete than mine...
Apparently, the problem is architecture dependent.
I have SUSE 10.3 on a p4 laptop too, and there cinelerra runs well.
But on amd64, my point is that one file appears to be missing completely.
