Amazing...I don't mean to be haughty or insulting

Why the concept of Cisco buying Nortel is so
laughable. They might be able to pull it off
financially right now, but it would be like Hyundai

In the case of your scenario where you seem to be
asking about the difference between 802.11b APs
between sites instead of modems, the APs would
effectively be 11MB/sec Bridges while the modems would
be far more limited in throughput, and therefore a
bottleneck by comparison. Modems however

There are some Juniper courses on Nortel's internal

Note carefully that this was a Layer 2 test! If this
was a layer 3 test the 6509's throughput would be even
lower. Compare this to Nortel's Passport 8600 switch
which will pass 96 million packets/sec in L2 or L3. I
would think that the throughput of the switches in the
core of most companies

pro Nortel or Juniper. Personally I think they are
more keen on startups than established players. But as
I stated, you can learn a lot by reading.

Of course this can be done. Since you state that each

With respect for the fact that this is a cisco list I
would still like to point out that it is precisely
because of the cpu intensive nature of crypto that the
most popular solution is not a router per se but a
dedicated VPN box such as the Nortel Contivity.
