Hi, I am trying to figure out a few commands in the 2912. I tried searching
on cisco.com but I come up with the basic commands. I could not find a
description of the commands I am looking for. For eg. transmit interface
command on the 2912. Can someone please explain what that command does or if

I am currently using a Cisco 2621 router for my company firewall. Serial 0's
interface (CSU/DSU) is connected to the phone company. Ethernet 0 is
connected to my LAN. I currently use CBAC / ACL's to control access from
Inside/Outside and vica versa.

You should let the PIX handle the NATing. Just put the 2600 and the PIX in
outside interface in the same switch

I've created a webpage so that you can get a better idea of my

I am having trouble configuring it so that IP traffic gets separated
from IPX/EIGRP traffic. It seems that things must either go through the
GRE tunnel or through the IPSEC

Navin,
I've never had a problem with Hyperterminal until very recently. New laptop
with Windows ME on. Unfortunately I copied over all my usual stuff and
configured everything before realising how bad Windows ME can be. This is
just one of the problems I've had.
I've found that
I use the Octal cable on a 2511 straight into the console port of the router
or plug a rolled cable between 2511RJ and router console. The 2511RJ is good
because you don't need the Octal cable, but it only has a single serial
port. The 2511 has 2 seril ports...

I would like to set my 2511 so it would be possible to switch from each of
my routers console port on my lab. Is there a sample configuration setup for
this. Being new at this I'm a little lost. I would greatly appreciate any
help. I guess I would telnet somehow to the TTY line ?
Thanks,
Steven,
I'm assuming you're using a 2511RJ series. If that's the case, then
you're lucky. Just plug a straight-through cat5 cable from the 16 async
ports on the 2511 to your routers or switches console port. Then on your
2511, setup a loopback interface, giving it an ip like 1.1.1.1/32. So
Hi,
Not splitting hairs, especially as your answer was so helpful, just curious.
I thought it was a rolled cable between 2511RJ and console ports.
Thought I'd check anyway, just to confuse things.
Cheers,

Gareth,
You would use a rollover cable on a 2511 that uses octal cables. On
2511rj, it's just a straight through cat5.

Aziz, Light! (Sorry, it's from "The Fifth Element" and I couldn't help it)
First, the easy one:
If you don't want RouterB to be able to dial to RouterA, simply do not define
interesting traffic (am I missing something?)
Second (the linear thinker in me) (Assuming Q.931 Q.921 are cool)
