Stus-List Boom vanging...

Here's another post to get some experience-based advising. I am looking to purchase a rigid boom vang to replace the topping lift (damn thang) which is always in the way of everything. I will also replace the blocks/line I have as manual vang. Tangs are built-in on the boom and mast base. I

I would second the Garhauer experience. They can recommend size and build flange fit to your mast and great to work with. Try catching them at a boat show or during a show for best price. John Russo Arpeggio C 1984 Norwalk, CT From: CnC-List [mailto:cnc-list-boun...@cnc-list.com] On

If all you want to do is get rid of the topping lift, you might consider just adding a Boomkicker, which only keeps the boom from falling down. Then you could keep your manual vang, would cost quite a bit less. I'm happy with that arrangement, though I always put my main halyard on the end

Chuck, I installed a Garhauer RV20-1SL several years ago now. I have an Offshore rig so the mast and boom already had the needed brackets for mounting. You will want to ask for the strong springs (yellow) when you order it. There are three. Great van for main trimming. I lead it back to the

Gee, Chuck I guess there are a few folks on the list that like Garhauer vangs. :). I put one on Touche' in 1999. Still looks good and works great. Highly recommend one. I've installed a few Garhauer vangs on other boats and have always had good experiences with their support. I installed a

Good timing on this topic, I just finished installing my new Garhauer RV-20-1SL vang. Thinking about writing a blog post on it (svviolethour.com) since I've been so happy with it so far (though haven't yet used it sailing! Just installed 3 days ago). It's the best deal in boating I've found so

I have a Boomkicker, but if I were to do it again, I would install Garhauer rigid vang. The cost is not that much different, but it seems to me that the Garhauer vang is a bit more solid. Btw. The Boomkicker is pretty strong. I would not seat on the boom, but you can lean on it without a

Contact Garhauer by telephone. If you email them, you will be instructed to call them on the phone anyway. :-) http://garhauermarine.com They can ship you different rated springs to better match your boat. It's not a major deal to do this. Every boat is different and sometimes a brand new
