Hi Steve,
It sounds like your tank is constructed similar to the 35 mk-1.
I was going to remove my tank, move some house
bank battery into the locker for better weight
distribution and add a bladder tank, as Dennis
has done. It's just that I never have time to get
it done so I cruise and
I'll keep that in mind but in the 22 years that we have had Corsair we
have completely rewired her, repowered with a Universal M-25XPB engine
(132 hours), Roller Furling, new cushions, refrigeration, wheel pilot,
ST60 instrumentation, second battery bank.
If they can fix her, we'll keep her.
Ditto.
Plus the system needs more maintenance than a conventional traveler.

Not exactly like your situation but here's a partial view of the flexible
water tank on Touche'.

I don’t think I can replace the tank, as it is the base of the settee, though I

that screws on, presumably
I "upgraded" the traveler on my '73 C 25 Mk1 a few years back. The car
didn't move freely, and neither did the pin stops. I agree, you need the
ability to quickly drop the traveler.
The C 25 Mk 1 has a curved track mounted on top of the transom, at an angle
so the tension on the car is

Hi Gary,
Many thanks for the detailed description on how to remove the old holding tank.
I have been staring at the head for a long time trying to figure out how to
dismantle it with out destroying everything.
Cheers,

When I purchased my 35 MKii a few years ago the head smelled really bad. No
amount of deodorizer helped. I removed the toilet, drained the tank and
used a bucket for awhile. Helped somewhat.
I tried to get it out through the hole it was mounted in but over the years
the bag was too stiff.

I am not enamored with the 115 windward sheeting arrangement. The main sheet

winches. The car is mounted low in front of the pedestal and has a

I suppose the advantages/disadvantages are in the eye of the beholder. My boat
weighs about 20,000 pounds. The short-term weight of a person standing in the
companionway adjusting the main after tacking isn’t that big of a deal.

I have an '85 33, and it's a pretty straightforward thing. I repaired mine
and cut it in half horizontally so it is easier to stow.
Shoved it through the table saw with the blade set at an angle so that rain
runs out, not in.
Pretty sure it is a symmetrical trapezoid.

The real advantage to the windward sheeting traveler system is that someone

On the 34 (like my current 42), the traveler and main sheet are located at the

is, the driver can’t handle it without leaving the wheel). If a crew member

I have raced on a boat with Harken windward-sheeting traveler. It was PITA in

Hi Gary
The loads on the main sheet and traveler on the 115 are normally pretty high.
When it was windy and gusty we would often have one person on traveler and
another on the sheet. I believe Koobalibra did have a windward sheeting car
but am not certain as it has been nearly two years

I just installed the same swivel cam cleats last month. Seems to work well.
Our traveler is on the bridge deck very much like the traveler on the 33-2. As
you said the swivel lets you work the traveler from aft or on coaming.

I agree about it being overrated, unless you have a real tender boat where
the crew has to be on the rail at all times. I put one on my 30-1 and it was

didn’t you find it convenient that you could always pull the car up, without
releasing the other control line? You save one hand in the process.

I also went with plexi (two pieces). A little heavier than wood, but no

however, plexi does not need to be maintained.
