John, the 37+ has a baby stay in front of the mast that a metal shackle or a knot sometimes gets caught on. Soft shackles work great. Your 1/2 inch sheet is good for about 10,000#. 1/4 inch dyneema core made into a soft shackle about 12,000# Give or take plenty strong enough. You do need loops i

Thanks Len, Unfortunately I just purchased two new headsail lines ( 11mm VPC) I thought they would come nicely cut trimmed, sealed, taped, something but they were literally hacked off frayed and I had to waste 6” cut and seal myself lesson learned I really wish I went with one long piece as now

I am using the Tylaska #8 J-Locks with a core dependent eye splice. The sheets gets loaded over 4000 pounds but I have not had an issue. The lock will open under load and we have done sail changes in high winds without having to tack or de-power. They may have more appeal for racing where a bowl
