After a fresh 8.2 install - I downloaded the KDE3 (optimized) RPMS from
www.pclinuxonline.com (texstar) for 8.2
Then I did the following (outside X in a console screen cntl-alt-F1)

Since 8.2 (and the 8.2 betas) I cannot go to system directories like winnt,
programs.
Win2k (and Win98) are on FAT32 partitions and are correctly recognized by
fdsik.
I can switch to all normal (i.e. non system) directories and see the contents
and I can copy to and from those directories.
I've been exchanging emails with Martin, the creator of Eroaster, most of the
morning and he has now completely fixed the autodetect problem eroast had
with mandrake 8.2 and the current cooker.
The new tarballs/packages should be uploaded within the next hour. I've

I found a way to make it all
This address is made from someone called TEXSTAR
He makes specially packaged RPMS which are better optimized for
Mandrake. If you check his KDE3 RPMS - they are smaller because they
are compiled without the debug code and they run leaner.
These are NOT the official KDE packages from KDE, but

You can do it with a little hacking.
As root, go to /etc/X11, edit the prefdm file, look near the end where
it execs the preferred dm and add this line right before it.

I generally run everything at the highest resolution possible, to get more
stuff on the screen at once. The other day I was collecting some
screenshots for Phil in MacOS, and backed down the resolution on the iMac
to 800x600, and left it that way when I shut down.
As far as I know, it only works that way if they are on seperate
partitions. I haven't used OSX myself. Have you tried the method of
holding down Option at boot and see if OS9 and OSX and Linux are
offered?
