Just a quick follow up. As I mentioned before using the Mandrake scannerdrake / XSane / xscanimage my Agfa SnapScan 1212U doesn't work at all. The same device not found message is produced regardless of whether the scanner is attached or not ! Today I uninstalled all the Mandrake SANE stuff
