If you haven't got the regular menu then you're not connected to the
slimserver. The signal strength is displayed regardless of whether
you're connected to anything.
I assume you went through the "setup networking" steps - at the end of
that you should get a "Connecting to Slimserver..." message

load (5.0 when connected).

2.4GHz phones are a common cause of wifi problems, ditch it. I have a
5.8 and it works just fine (using it with Vonage too, not that that

Native format for the Slug is Ext3, a standard linux filesystem.
Mirroring drives on the Slug shouldn't be an issue. I'm fairly certain
the Linksys firmware supports it but not sure about the Slug firmwares.

Yes it's a cordless a 2.4. We use one of those cordless phones which you
can add other phones to. Only way to have phone in the entire house with
vonage. Any solution you think?
p.s. it seems that sometimes it doesn't crashes just looses connection
and once I get off the phone it reconnects.

Is your phone a cordless? If so, that sounds like it could be the
problem. Wireless routers broadcast in the same frequency as some
cordless phone models2.4 Ghz I think (could be wrong though). A
conflict would cause one of the connections to fail.

Squeezebox 2 plantinum (wireless). After tweaking my router for about
an hour I finally got it connected and working. You can imagine how
happy I was. Anyways I was listening and tweaking when I get a phone
call and one I pick it up

I have a general bug with handling extended responses containing only
one result (which is what you get if there's only one player
connected). I have 3 players, hence I don't see the bug. I'm working on

I have an SB1 with server 6.2.1, an Alien BBC 1.00 - Mplayer should be
the latest one, as far as I know, having the 20051113 zip file
version.
Alien is, however,giving me a problem when BBC is concerned.
Virgin Radio works well.
BBC, on the otherhand, start hicupping every three to four seconds

Softsqueeze is not the way to go for this, esp. since the 770 doesn't
have java support. But there's a better option...
I've been planning on writing up a wiki-ish HOWTO somewhere (where?
slimdevices? internettablettalk?) on how to stream to the 770, but in
lieu of that here's the basics.

Softsqueeze is a java program, but you can use the internet radio
player on 770 to get stream audio from slimserver.

desktop, and then will carry the slug and it's hard drive around with
me as a portable system.

on certain songs there will be a very harsh amount of distortion making
it impossible to listen to those songs. The problem seems to only happen
