you've secured your wireless network by allowing only trusted MAC
addresses, and the MAC address changes, you would get a failure to

I have started to run SlimRemote on my HTPC, works well but the pc text
output on a 720 x 576 CRT screen is very bad and pretty well
unreadable. Will be a lot better on a 1080p 102cm LCD when I can afford
one.
I use a Shintaro wireless keyboard to control the HTPC.

More info - its not the MusicInfoScr, it has something to do with what
you are displaying on the second screen. With the second screen off,
or showing the analog VU, or spectrum analyser - RSS works fine. With
the second display showing extended text (or text + specctrum analyser)

Hi, I got my Squeezebox a few days ago, and I must say I love it.
However, I found one thing a bit strange: When I connect to
Squeezenetwork, there was an option for displaying a 24h clock. I live
in Norway, and here that's the standard use. Now, the thing is, I can't

read-only mode the day after i created it. And Pandora can really make
my little Squeezy freeze. It seems very busy when connected to Pandora.
It's doesn't scroll the display very nice (jerky) and it's very

Interesting. I am indeed running text + spectrum analyzer on the right
screen.
I confirmed ceejay's diagnosis by changing the right screen to always
be the analog vu meters, and turning the Transporter off and on, and
RSS function is restored.

Confirmed this is definately a bug and I know why it is doing it. You
may also find the memory consumption of slimserver grows in ticker mode
at present which could lead to other problems.

I'm getting this too. On a couple of occasions when Pandora has done
maintenance, they'll go into a "read only" mode. However, in the past
they have announced this on their blog...and it doesn't sound like
they're doing maintenance now. Really frustrating.

So what do you think if the Great March DAC? I'm trying to decide
between a couple of the Pacific Valve models myself. I spoke to one of

I have a bit of a problemo. I was running slimserver 6.3 happily and
everything was fine. In a fit of madness, I upgraded to 6.5.0. Now my
iTunes playlists are visible, but they contain no songs.
Here are the details of my config (quotes are included in pathnames for

I've just got a Derek Shek d2 dac, non-os. Cost just £184 all-in, and

What's happened is that it's failed to find your DHCP server.
The address you assign to it manually must be on your local LAN and
must be unique. Most LANs by default use the 192.168.1.XXX subnet.
Try 192.168.1.10 - that should be outside any DHCP addresses and
outside most static IPs as well,

whether any transcoding is going on.
AFAIK there is no way to determine from the player whether or not
transcoding is taking place -- you basically have to look at the file type,
and the rules file, and figure it out. I

Have you tried working with a sub-set of your music library? You might
try setting up a test folder with some tracks from the "beginning" of
your library and then with some tracks from the end and pointing
slimserver at that. If scanner.exe doesn't choke on those, well, at
least you'll know its

My software firewall on the machine I'm running SlimServer on is
blocking an attempt to connect to UDP Port 3865, apparently when
SlimServer starts up. I've search in this forum, and seen references
to this port, but in the documentation and Wiki, there is nothing at
all about it.

Another thing I was just noticing, since I have both a SqueezeBox and a
Roku SoundBridge 1001 on my network, is that my software firewall is
reporting that SlimServer is regularly attempting connections with the
Roku.
I don't know if this is being triggered by the Roku sending some kind

Does linux or Mac have a media center option?
You'd think that an X windows based solution would be much more
flexible. You could then display controlling apps on remote X window
managers such as a linux pda or phone.
