Are you streaming WAV or FLAC (i.e. is Slimserver or the Squeezebox
doing the transcoding)?
I've got an outstanding bug where 24/48 FLACs play fine when transcoded
by my SB2, but white noise when done by the server. I prefer to have
decoding done server-side as IMO it sounds marginally better.
Audio Hijack is a nice program, but it doesn't really do what you want.
the same people have a program called Nicecast that takes sound and
broadcasts it, and the Squeezebox can then pick up this sound.
Trouble is that the it takes enough time for Nicecast to process the

Generally it works quite well, and the interface to sync/unsync is good.
However, sync has a number of issues which prevent it from being as
1st-class as the rest of the system - so, thanks very much for working
to improve it!
A few comments about things that could be better:
1) gapless + sync
OK - great.
I am having a slight problem in that socketwrapper.exe occasionally
closes due to an error on the PC. Nothing seems much to consequentially
fail as a result but it happens quite regularly.
I am not using a firewall other than the Netgear router hardware
firewall.
I am using AVG

Socketwrapper will start and stop with each track. What is the error
message you get or how do you know there is a problem ?
There is another version of socketwrapper but it only has more messages
and error handling for debugging. It may be useful to install it and a
debugging version of 6.5.2
Is there an official way to load custom m3u files in SlimServer? In my

After returning from a holiday when everything was turned off - SB3,
router, SlimServer, modem - the 'now playing' goes blank with seconds
of use of the menus. I've tried resetting the screensaver option and a
power recycle but no joy .

act as a competing access point (ie competing with your original one).
Think of it like your neighbour's AP - there's no way for it to know
that it's supposed to be boosting the signal of the first AP. Thus, the

to bukharin: When i setup the DWL-G700AP, i used installation software
that had me setup 'which' network it was supposed to extend. It knows
its an AP for my primary network (see the boost in signal from ~40% to
98%). I can even get it to

Off state, idle state and playing state all have different brightness
levels that can be adjusted independently.

Bascially windows throws a Socketwrapper.exe has encountered a problem
and needs to close error.
The windows firewall is off, yes, and the only firewall is on the
router itself at the front of the system.

Sumner. Clear, rescan. Still only the one album (of five) shows up
when searching on Sting. Guess it is time to try 6.5.2 even tho that
doesn't fix (from above).

Dunno if it's been fixed, but a while back at least it would crash the
player if you went too fast with it - maybe 256x or so. As I recall I
had to power cycle the player and restart the server before everything
was happy again. Hmm looks like I never wrote up a bug for that..

Taking a break from work, I tried Softsqueeze, connecting to the

It worked! But only after setting the streaming rate to limit of

That's correct, this is wired to the server, so
I think your only choice is to set the screensaver time to something a
lot lower than 30 seconds and live with it. There's nothing magic
about 30 seconds... I've always used 5 seconds to get pretty much the
same behavior - Now Playing almost immediately. You can't set it too

Well, the SB3 was up to it's old firmware update nonsense again. I had
been logged, for several days, onto Squeezenetwork. Last evening, I
logged back onto Slimserver. Even though I turned off automatic
updates in Slimserver 6.5.1, I was prompted (again) for the dreaded
software update.

extracted the contents to a desktop file. However, there doesn't
appear to be an installer, or an appropriate .exe file to run Slim
Server. Do I simply copy this to my existing 6.5.1 and overwrite where

My biggest regret is that I never took electric shop in high school. I
instead took woodshop (I made a towel holder), metal shop (where
another kid put a blowtorch on my butt) and print shop (handsetting of
metal type one letter at a time - Microsoft Word wasn't invented yet).
