is near the router downstairs, I've also wired it up instead of using wireless for it. It still says there's a slight drop off at the 5Mbps network test so I need to do some testing on throughput (not that it would ever affect the SB3 at that rate, even with FLAC). -- DoomWolf

Perhaps the SB3 firmware corrupted? Installing a newer release of Squeezecenter (finished 7.3.3 release, build 27044) then would have caused it to push out the latest firmware version 127 which would overwrite the previous corrupted one. -- DoomWolf

don't see why it wouldn't work with a standard USB external drive though. Only thing I can think of is to check if Windows is assigning the USB drive the same drive letter as an existing mapped network share (it does happen sometimes), if you have any mapped network shares that is. -- DoomWolf
