I recently re-installed everything on this machine, after buying a new
hard disk. I put back everything as it was before.
When I play a track through my Squeezebox, I used to be able to go

This is now working for me:
I happen to have my compilation albums (where there are multiple
artists) grouped under a directory called Various Artists then the
album name, otherwise all albums are grouped under the artist name.
For all compilation albums, each track has the tag Compilation,
I assume you mean that SlimServer doesn't actually renumber the tracks
for you while browsing them, just then they are shown in the correct
order...e.g.
disc no - track no. song title

On the hard drive, they are structured thus:

cygwin is your friend, althought I guess it looks quite complicated to

I second Michael's suggestion regarding SSH, although hamachi is
interesting so I will take a look at that.
My suggestion would be to go the SSH route, although that does have
some overhead for encrypting/decrypting the stream. It is easy to set

much it slows down my system on startup, and when rescanning -
something 6.2.1 never did.
This is running on Windows XP sp2 BTW.
I checked the process list, and looked at the process priority and it
was set to High -
Foobar2000 definately. Plays FLAC very well, and supports gapless
playback.
Not very elegant UI, but functional.
Otherwise, you could use Winamp, but you'll need to install a plugin to
play FLAC files - available from the winamp web site.
