seem to have enough drive.

Hi David,
It is my experience that to use Yaesu mics with the K2 you really need a pre
amplifier, either internal or external. I have an internal one built on a small
piece of perforated board, and mounted on the mic jumper block.
It gives me enough gain for my MD-100 desk mic, and MD-31 hand
Some time ago someone posted a Mouser or whoever's catalog number
for a metal shaft replacement tuning pot. I can't find the e-mail in
my messages received file. Can someone give me correct number for this
item? Mine is just about worn out now and getting sloppy.

This may sound odd but I am thinking of operating from a spoils island off
the intercoastal waterway here in South Texas for next Field Day. My

Steve,
If you calibrate the wattmeter in the KAT2 properly, it will produce power
readings just as accurate as the WM-1 - it is a true wattmeter (similar to
the WM-1detector). Since you are limited in the gear you can carry, I would
believe carting the WM-1 along would just create excess bulk

Hi Mark,
I have to echo W3FPR's advice. I had a Viewsonic monitor myself, and I DID
shield the inside, put ferrites on the VGA input cable, put chokes, ferrites
capacitors on the AC input as well, and didn't even manage to reduce the
radiated noise. I suspect it's coming from the CRT itself.

One additional option may be to put Yellow Dog Linux on your Powerbook
3400. Having Linux on the machine may open up some additional options
to you. If you have enough disk space you can set it up for dual-boot
(Mac OS / YDL ).
See ...
I have to second that.
I was using a gateway monitor, but went to the Dell 17.
Virtually no noise.
They are made by Phillips.

I bought the BL2 PC board (E100253) and the switch (E640019) and removed the

Elecraft has all the parts except the crystal. I went to ICM for that.

Past experience with 'other' DSP options and CW if I have a CW signal buried

So just out of curiousity how does the K series work

Hi Chuck,
I was a bit skeptical also about purchasing the K2DSP, It seemed that when
using the MFJ DSP with my TS850 (pre-K2), I was never able to hear more with
the MJF DSP than without it. I ended up selving the MFJ DSP. However, I
never really liked the 270 Hz crystal filter on the TS850 as

denoiser at narrow CW bandwidths, but I am still experimenting with it.
The denoiser is not effective at really narrow bandwidths. It is more
effective with wider bandwidths, in which case it can suppress noise and
let the CW signals pop out of a quieter background.

It provides three features, any one of which can be important

The most obvious one is audio filtering, supplementing the

Hi Chuck
I run my KDSP2 all the time, and vary the
NR setting according to the noise I hear.
Sometimes I get improved results by adding the Attenuator
or the Preamp. It all depends on the type of noise
and its amplitude relative to the desired signal.
You really do have to experiment a bit to
