I've received several inquiries about the software used - as I indicated,
it's called SpectraPlus. Unfortunately it's not freebie software.

Bill, I think the 2.9Khz bandwidth measurements for that filter were taken
at r.f. - for whatever reason, that bandwidth is not translating into a.f.
- I've seen a.f. measurements done on about 5 samples of the 2.7Khz filter
and they all run several hundred hertz
This is perhaps a long shot, but anybody out there want to trade their
narrow 1.8Khz K3 filter for a 2.8Khz filter?
Please reply off list.

I am about to bite the bullet and order a K3. However I am not sure whether
to buy the kit or the K3 ready built.
I did successfully build a K2 some years ago and guess that the K3 build is
very much simpler.
Any comments on potential building pitfalls would be appreciated.

Go into config menu and change AGC SLP to 15 and see if that helps
this issue. (p 50 of manual)

I've had the same thought. I assume that eventually we'll have some software
support with a nice GUI to set/save EQ settings on a PC. But perhaps
recruiting M1-M4 buttons to somehow save/restore 4 RX EQ and 4 TX EQ
settings would be really nice.

Speaking of the K3's computer interface - I've noticed that no K3
responses are generated for the following K3 front panel buttons: RIT,
XIT, AGC OFF, DUAL PB, NB, NR and NTCH. Also, the response for XFIL is
always FW. I am using the most recent firmware.
a COM/OLE programming interface to send the rig most CAT commands.
We need a solution like N8LP and HB9DRV have been talking about lately.

If you built the kit, you might not have mounted the front panel properly and
fully seated the mic connector. Go to
http://www.zerobeat.net/mediawiki/index.php/K3_Kit_Building and read the
tips under Front Panel and DSP. Check what is described about seating the
mic connector.

Doesn't the monitor control adjust the spot volume?
