being recommended at the time. Apparently there has been a change in
thinking away from silver. I can't say I've had any negative effects with
it, though.

If you do not have an **adjustable** current limited supply, do what I do on
the bench.
I have a 35 amp limited supply on the bench, and my 13.8 volt buss has jacks
that are direct, through a 10 ohm 10 watt resistor, and through a second 10
ohm in series with that.
I can get a really good
through the gear, and not depending on devices that let 700 volts in or out
to protect solid state devices. It's the poor lead routing and ground
bonding that really kills our gear. Especially when the power mains ground
and the shack ground have any significant impedance between them.

While this is true I still feel that any KEY_IN source be it PTT or VOX
or the paddles it should interrupt the memory keyer.
Makes total sense to me. Any call for another transmission source, VOX, PTT,
external key line input, or paddles, should halt automatic transmissions.
in N's. Mostly due to someone picking the wrong antenna at
full poweror lightning. Most of the N's left in my system are being
replaced as they fail.

My concern for any Switching supply is the RFI noice that the radio will
pick up
from the power supply. Looking at the SEC 1235m, I was reading that it has
a
build in RFI filter. Plus I like the AD5X mod to slow down the fan. And
the
Alinco DM-340 MVT has a knob to change the freq. of
as the gain is reduced.
I think you want something that cannot be done.
Besides, S meter are pretty much meaningless anyway. I only use mine to tell
me when I need to use an attenuator pad or a preamp.

I would have no use for a 750 Hz filter. 99% of the time I use SSB bandwidth
on emty CW bands, or less than 500 Hz BW.
I have my filters set so the 500 Hz roofing kicks in at 600 Hz BW, my 250
roofing in at 350.
This is in an attempt to soften the big 50 Hz selectivity steps when using
narrow
analog system when signal levels are near noise levels,
especially when the noise floor is a bit rough.

agree that it wouldn't work with a resonant antenna.
On my Beverage antennas (which are low gain) the accumulation of AM BC
signals, SW BC signals, and so on at night is enough to light the filament
of a 12 volt
. My oldest D104 has been with me since the 70's when I used it
with a Drake line. Still ticking just fine and still excellent audio after
all these years, and with the little cheap FET mod works great with either
low or very high impedance loads 40 years later!

The Johnson T-R switch came in two iterations, as I recall. The first
one suffered from suck-out, as did the second, but less so.
Signal suckout occurs because the tank circuit in the transmitter presents a
low impedance when the tube end of the tank is misterminated during key-up
(resting

That's what I had to do Pete. The bail is far too tall for me also.
After trying to whittle wood and bend metal, I finally cut some dense closed
cell foam on my band saw and made a nice little riser for the front.

Actually that sounds reasonable. The item may not cost a whole lot
to manufacture, but by the time you add in the overhead cost of
having it on hand, paying someone to take the order, go get it from
stock, package and label
. It prevents hot switching antenna
relays by locking out any changes while transmitting.
Band decoder and antenna controller with amplifier lockout all in one box.

decoder for use
