Andy, My suggestion is rather basic (I've learned that sometimes the most obvious is often missed, don't ask how I know).  Take the time to open the case and tighten every bolt, nut, screw and reseat the connectors (wiggle everything).  Then retest.  Over time, some radios self-loosen bolts
