The updated kernel is not an rt-preempt kernel. Does the linuxcnc-sim run
on that?

If you want an in-expensive way to convert Heidenhain 11uA analogue sine wave
current output scale signals to TTl then Google 'IC Haus'.
They do an evaluation board for their chip 'iC-NV' which with the addition of 2
resistors will convert sine to square with interpolation
Google Allegro ACS712 Current Sense IC, this would do what you want.

Unfortunately, my tool path is complicated. Usually it will have
several turns in the path. It is almost like we teach the controller
way points to travel to and thru.
