For instance on one machine user 'X' uses XCFE usage barely registers

When booting from the cdrom to upgrade the system hung half way through the
boot sequence. So I rebooted into 7.1 and did the upgrade from there, all

Did you buy the cd you were using? Or did you burn it yourself? If you
burned it, did you check your md5's before? Did they match? I had the
problem with cd's that won't boot, numerous times. Most times, its because
of a bad download.

This has been stated before on each list but it bares repetting again.
Because of changes in the file structure to bring it into compliance with
the new standards and because of KDE 2.0 the reccomended mode of
installation for 7.2 is as a New Install not an Upgrade.

You hit the nail on the head. Typed update-menus -v as user and, bingo,
all the menus were redone AUTOMATICALLY. I click on K and all the menus
were there, every last one of them.

That's the problem, don't upgrade, install "fresh"...
I.E. Reformat and install.
7.1 leaves too many things behind which will kill 7.2.

Finally took the step to leave 3.3.x for 4.0.x. Some questions:
1. Got HW accelaration almost working (4.1.0, Banshee). Quake3 starts
accelerated, but exits due to errors with 4.0.1, i.e. with MDK 7.2 and
libgL. Should I go for Glide, or GL?
2. Another alternative is to upgrade to cooker X4 (4.0.

while in KDE, press Ctrl-Esc and u'lll see KSysGuard program running.. check
the CPU usage and see which process is the culprit.. kill it!

if these are compromised from a root kit you should install the rpm's

I had a similar motherboard and hte sound worked perfectly on LM 7.1 out of
the box! I don't know of sound quality compared to others coz I use it mainly
for playing CDs to my head-phones.. but ac97 did work out of the box on VIA
chipset in LM 7.1 is the bottom line :)

Seems to return some files that have been created long ago. The actual files do
seem to change with time. Example:
[root@main postfix]# date
Fri Dec 1 22:55:43 EST 2000
[root@main postfix]# find /etc/*
winFtp simply uses ftp... so all u need to do is start ftp server on u're box.
If you are not paranoid about security, then simply start the inet service.
Use the command
service inet start to start it..
u can check /etc/inetd.conf for the services u have started when u started
inet..

I installed the latest version of UT last week. Works fine in software mode,
but a little slow.
Accelerated is another matter. Speed seems okay, but it looks terrible.
Really messed up transparencies and the like.
I had to comment out some the features in
check the man pages for procmail. there are example recipes in there on
how exactly to do just that.
