When entering a simple melody (eight notes or quarter notes) it takes several seconds to redraw the screen, and it tries to redraw the whole screen every time I enter a note. This occurs even when all the successive measures are empty. I don't understand why it should redraw the previous measures
I tried Klaas DeJong's suggestions regarding changing the font sizes using the options menu. However, it still does not work.
It acts like it wants to use the font size I selected, but then when I hit the "enter" or Tab keys, it uses that teensy-weensy font size that is unreadable. And I cannot
When preparing a lead sheet, the musicians say the chord font size is way too small. However, upon examining the chord menu, it says "Change chord SUFFIX size."
This seems rather absurd. Why not change the size of the WHOLE chord? Why would someone want a large suffix when the root designator
Like some of you, I use Finale to help with arranging as well. I have gotten to the point where the cheesy sound from GM is no longer accceptable for auditioning my score.

Hi Folks;
I've got a problem that is making me tear my hair out. Good thing I have lots

Anyway, I want to enter chords that are not anchored to a note or rest.
Normally one does this by adding another layer and anchoring the chords to
that. For example I might have a double whole no

I tried that,
I found out that when you anchor the chords to a note in a given staff, it
uses the SAME INSTRUMENT for the accompaniment. So the only way to accompany
a flute passage with piano chords (for example) is to have a separate staff
with piano, and anchor the chords to that. Kind of clumsy, but that'

I would like to avoid deleteing the chords whenever possible, since I at some
point would like to put them back into the score. And of course, I don't want
to have go through that process every time I make any changes.
As far as muting the accompaniment, will that cause the output MIDI file to
Hi Folks;
While navigating the waters of Finale Bay, I ran into a rocky shoal or two.
I have input the melody onto a PIANO staff and used the Chord tool to input
some chords on the score. It supplied the chordal accompaniment, but I don't
want the chords to be on the MIDI file that I want to p
You're right, the Speedy Entry method is much better. I was trying originally to use the Simple Entry method, but that has a LOT of snags in it.
They claim that they improved it, but it's (IMHO) just as awkward as the original method. What they need is a way to input recurrent patterns of rhythms,

My understanding is I am supposed to use "Staff attributes" to convert part of a staff from regular to slash notation, or vice versa. I must first select the measures I want to convert, at then select the notation choice. At least that's my understanding.

I just ran across something really peculiar. Dare I call it a "bug ?"

Is there something special he has to do, or I have to do to get mine to read

I prepared a score for my client, and put the result on a MIDI file so I
